Glad to see other folks hand seeding Ag rice! I am trying to bring awareness to it in Central NC, wish more people would plant. We leave our beaver ponds full of water until June, drop the water quick and then seed it. Keeps the spring/summer weeds from coming in and you get great seed-soil contact. Can you keep water on this longer to control the weeds?

It varies based on how they pump fields. But it will dry up in June and seems to get to full pool again in July & August. Works out really good for rice planting.

Gotcha, so you like that vegetative cover for planting? Kind of like a no till where it serves as a moisture trapping layer it would seem @@TripleRwoods Search "rice" on my channel if you are interested, hand full of planting and update videos'. Good stuff, take care!

As soon as I get to the point where I don’t have to get it dry to cut trees/brush/etc I plan to do this as well.

Pretty sure that’s baiting. Not supposed to disturb food plots and you put it right where the decoys go.

The decoys tend to go past it. I think the idea behind not disturbing it is no taking a 4 wheeler out and doing donuts to lay it all down. Etc etc.
