    I’d greatly enjoy specifically hearing Craig and Stevie critically analyze the United center midfielder who is in the 6th percentile (as in bad, not good) for passes attempted per 90 minutes as a center midfielder, 12th percent for progressive passes, 19th percent for interceptions, and 43rd percent for pass completion. And I’d greatly enjoy hearing them explain how United are ever expected to dictate and control matches with a center midfielder with those terrible numbers. In case anyone doesn’t know who I’m referring to, it’s Scott McTominay. United have a center midfielder who actively hides from the ball, always passes backwards or sideways, has escaped criticism for years because of his “effort”, and abdicates his real responsibilities as a center midfielder in an effort to poach goals. It’s time for these ESPN FC pundits to stop just scapegoating Bruno and specifically address the very real Scott McTominay issue United have in their midfield. But you’ll never hear anything about McTominay other than praise because he’s English and Scottish. He is a massive liability for United. And anyone who says “but he scores goals” does not understand the real all around role of a center midfielder.

    • @zalemdreams
      @zalemdreams Před 13 dny +3

      I think it's rather because they have no expectations for him. It's obvious he's not good enough to play for United - the only difference is he wasn't a recent signing i.e. a failure in recruitment from this regime.

      @Photosoflife Před 13 dny

      @zalemdreams
      It primarily boils down to Craig, Don, and Stevie being former Scottish internationals. They are protecting one of their own. And McTominay was born and raised in England and is half English. So the English media have his back as well. The harsh reality is it doesn’t matter which country he represents, the fact he’s an academy player, or that Ten Hag didn’t sign him. He’s a United player who should be evaluated on his performances on the field, that’s it. And his underlying stats clearly show he is a very poor center midfielder. Ghosting into the box to score goals in a few games does not make up for that. He’s a huge reason why United have consistently been unable to win midfield battles for years.

    • @Photosoflife
      @Photosoflife Před 13 dny +1

      @superdaddyoo
      They kept McTominay over those two because of home grown roster rules, him being an academy player, favoritism, and the fact McTominay will not accept reduced wages elsewhere because he knows he will never make this kind of money ever again with another club. He still has two years remaining on his contract and will very likely run it out even though Ten Hag was trying to get rid of him last summer.

    Points
    United's worst points return in the Premier League era was 58, which they posted in 2021/22, the season before Erik ten Hag became manager.
    ETH and his squad are currently sitting at 50pts with 6 games to be played.
    Worst Finish
    Moyes took United to their lowest finish in the table in the Premier League era in that 2013/14 season, when the reigning champions ended up seventh.
    There is a very real possibility United could finish even lower than that in 2023/24: after 32 games, only 7 points separated the Red Devils in seventh from Wolves in 11th.
    Most Losses
    United's biggest number of defeats in a single Premier League season is 12. If they lose just one more game in 2023/24, they will set a new record of 13.
    ETH is on the verge of having one of United's WORST seasons in the Prem era. He needs to go.

    It no longer has the pull it once use to have, bc top players know it can't compete for league and ucl titles, which means that the level of players united can get is sub top, bc the best players will prefer Manchester city, Liverpool, Real Madrid, however it is still viewed as a big club by others, meaning it still has to pay a premium for substandard players like Maguire and Anthony, who otherwise would've been sold to other sub top clubs for 40-50mil instead of 80-100.

When you are a manager and you get critized for taking a teenager off in a cup semifinal that you are leading 3:0 and you as a manager want to rely on your senior players (rashford, casemiro etc.) to control the game and it is logical to take the teenager off and give him a rest, you know the pundits are talking nonsense. It is for the senior players to take the responsibility. If they then go and give a 3:0 lead away in 20min, that‘s not down to the manager who trusts his most experienced players, that‘s down to the players themselves.

Emery took a struggling villa side around the same time as ten hag and he has them close to a euro final and 4th in league, playing a style of football. His signings compared to ten hag have been better and fit to the system he wants villa to play. Howe at Newcastle has done more since joining them in 2021 while in a relegation battle and again he bought players to fit system. Kudus, Bruno g, diaby, Gordon , Torres are all players that could fit united team for fraction of money already spent. United need to get rid of half the team and start again , I would trust ten hag to rebuild that club.

      @toluogunrinde2894 I am no united fan and I wouldn't put them next to Real Madrid but it's undeniably one of the richest clubs in the world so I don't see why they couldn't attract top talent with the right management.

    There is nothing toxic in what Ogden is saying. He is a United fan and he is as much hurt as all of us

      Ogden never says anything good about Man U. Sometimes I wonder how he is a Man U chief reporter. He is also boring. I have never seen him excited.
