I've never really commented on your videos but wanted you to know you live my dream and peace. I'm tied too close to the burbs helping kids, grands, and work though I comfort myself with gardens and animals. Great video JC! The first 5-6 minutes was really good and spot on. The good news is you have a bunch of loyal subscribers who love the content no matter what. I sooooooo totally respect your choice to do things based on your experience and your personal preferences. I watch your videos because we have similar lifestyles and I always learn something new. 10% of the time I say I like that, I am going to try that. 10% of the time I say that's not how I do it but either way works fine and 80% of the time we do things the same way. Makes me laugh when someone tells me "what I need" or "what I should do"....I snap right back and say "look at your life, you obviously don't even know what's in your OWN best interests and yet you're going to tell ME what I should do? Ha Ha!"

I love your video's because they bring so many happy memories back to life for me. Todays vid I heard the geese fly over and the first thing that came to my mind was a hunting spot from years gone by that was my special place for squirrels. I had a tree that I would sit under for 15 to 20 minutes and listen to the sounds of fall, you know what I mean, like rabbits running around and rustling the leaves. The squirrels come out and chatter, the geese and ducks flying over. The wind whistling thru the branches and leaves. It's been a lot of years ago but those memories make it feel like it just happened. I'm 79 now and my legs and knees are not that great so for now I'll watch some of your vids to get me back to those times. Thank you so much for sharing your times with me my friend.

Hello, my wife and I moved off grid a year and a half ago and began restoring the fifty year old log cabin. Just recently we were getting to the old 1890’s wood cook stove and found your channel. The lasagna special haha. Loved it. We began going through your entire catalog of videos. It was a real change from punching a time clock but I really enjoy the variety of my days and living to the seasons. We love your videos and appreciate the effort you put into them. Thanks!

Was chuckling about all the “you should’ve’s” What I say is “handle your business” oh and was thinking of you earlier this week when I was filling my water bottles from the homemade Berkey and the fact they didn’t freeze while sitting on the floor of the cabin per the bubble foil layer between the subfloor and joists.

Cool thing about having this on a video is you now have a record of what you put in your pie and how you did it. There’s nothing worse when cooking than to make something on the fly, it turns out great and then you can’t remember what you put in it. It looked really good even if you’d bake lots of pies before, but as it was your first it looked great.

Your very creative idea of adding the granola bar only sounds funny until you break it down to the ingredients. What a great idea! I might miss the molasses of the brown sugar but the peanut butter was the substitute along with the cocoa powder in the granola bar. Now all you have to do is give it a name and let Lori try it too. If she likes it then you can plan on making the "peanut butter & apple" pie for a new holiday tradition or camp special, lol. Glad you didn't fall off the roof too!

Made me smile when you improvised and made your apple pie. So many times I've made meals with what i had and ended up with something I'd make again. A lot of my recipes over the years were created because my family loved them and wanted them again. lol now my mouth is watering... We don't eat white sugar but we use honey for everything. Makes a great apple pie. When you use what you have deep in the mountains it's going to be great.
A+++ on that strap for your scaffold. I fell off my scaffold last year and sprained my knee from this exact thing. It gets top heavy and kicks over. Thanks for the vid.
