Jude Law seems to feel comfortable in the role⊠but nothing can bear Hook rendition from Dustin Hoffman and Jason Isaacs!

Wow! It's been a while since I have seen such suspense. I mean what a skillfully crafted tense atmosphere, you can really feel it. It is at it's peak when he asks calmly if Harry put his name into the goblet of fire.

He's a good actor, just not the type. Hook can be comical or menacing, but he's basically a theatrical, extroverted character, which Jude lacks.

I find it ironic how this Cpt. Hook was played by another actor who acted in the MCU which is Jude Law. The first MCU actor who played Hook was Tom Hiddleston through voice acting in The Pirate Fairy.

Another underrated version of Captain Hook (besides Jason Issacs) is the one in the 90s animated tv series voiced by none other than Tim Curry. He looks like the Quaker oatmeal guy but heâs menacing and brooding and his lines alone made that series watchable! đ

Jude Law's interpretation of James Hook is a more collected and calm captain, for right now, than the animated version. Stage actors playing villains usually have a lot of fun and plenty to work with. The way Hook announces his displeasure on certain topics without being overly violent is what such an actor does. He admits that he will need another door in the future. The crew knows that this happens quite a bit as the wounded pirate under the door will attest to. He was afraid of being killed, Hook got him in the shoulder with that pistol. He knows sailors are impossible to come by after a couple of centuries in Neverland.

Contrary to popular belief, this is not a remake of the 1953 animated film but a more faithful and darker adaptation of the original JM Barrie play hence "Peter Pan and Wendy" instead of just "Peter Pan".

For the Original story, there is the Peter Pan from 2003. Both Peters will never be topped again, only other great Peter is Robbie Williams in Hook.
Yes, you can make an unfunny parody of someones favourite child story, but then you should not give it the name of the original, you should screw the name either!
From what little I've seen of Jude Law's Hook, there are several things that stand out.
I notice one eye shows blue iris, and the other is a complete black pupil. Added to that, if you look closely, there are a few thin scars along his face, and am I the only one who feels as if his hook is actually a meat-hook, ergo adding to the creepiness factor? Perhaps in past fights with Peter, his own hook scarred him in combat, and maybe even injured his eye, ergo the black pupil?
I think of Jude Law's Hook as the Peter Pan parallel to Glenn Close as Cruella De Vil. Much like Close, I think Jude Law truly embelished the character and just went all the way with what he had to work with, even running all the way to the moon, he's so in character.
David Lowrey has said his hook was ripped from pieces of the ship itself, and created like Candymanâs hook.
Also, regarding the eye and scars, my assumption was that it was due to past fights outside of Neverland. Whatever gave him those scars around his injured eye, I feel was what injured his eye. Iâm almost thinking debris from a cannon blast. I absolutely love his aesthetic though, especially with the eye. It makes him look like a crazy old sea captain. Quint comes to mind. Just more terrifying.
