I like how one of the prevailing strategies for unprecedented Mario Kart discoveries is simply "what if we messed around with unviable karts every once in a while." It's such an easy to overlook idea but it somehow ends up breaking our very perception of either MKDD or MKWii every year or so
Read slightly less charitably; people just jerk off the same few karts and that's why it takes so long to find these things.
i think about this exact scenario very often. things that never see their full potential because they've already been written off as unviable or something to that effect. vehicles in kart racers, characters/moves in fighting games, weapons in fps, etc.
I love how Double Dash went from unbreakable to having at least one out-of-bounds on every track
If you break something, many more will open up

It's not just Mario Kart either. So so many games have had unbeatable records shattered in the last year or so, it's an awesome time to be a speed running fan lol. I don't have the patience to run anything myself, but I will sit there and watch a 4 hour video about invisible walls, patience is weird lol.
It’s honestly amazing that Double Dash has gone from being “the unbreakable Mario Kart” to having tons of exploits in just a few years is honestly incredible. Hopefully this trend of Mario Kart impossibilities happening will continue, and we’ll find E. Gadd in Mario Kart DS, or we’ll find some substantial beta content for Mario Kart 7.
Well the good news is E Gadd *is* in a MKDS build
The bad news is that he just uses the Toad model, so it seems like he was scrapped for Dry Bones before full assets were made
for your beta mk7 content, in a few of the trailers you can see beta elements in the item roulette wheel clearly visible. such as a "star" that does nothing (it's actually a test item that uses the star image) and the blue shell has wings in the kiosk demo, but as far as i'm aware it wasn't fully implemented so you couldn't receive it.
So went from not broken at all to being completely broken, sounds about right

Also, you only mentioned that this new golden kart was found to be useful by accident. Did the community then made an effort to test all the karts without exception to make sure there aren't any other outliners ?
Other karts have been tested, mainly the Toad Kart and Rattle Buggy, but the Parade Kart seems to be the easiest

Yeah I would’ve liked to keep editing, unfortunately (or fortunately perhaps haha) new discoveries kept being made after writing the script and recording all the voice lines, so it was easier to just do a quick facecam recording. I’ll try to avoid it outside of outros in the future 👍

I actually remember going under the track a couple of times in grand prix when an old friend and me binged MKDD. I know it wasn't more than a handful of times, and we'd always play "dumb" character/kart combos. It's been such a long time ago though and we'd played so many hours of the game with so many combos that trying to remember the exact ones would be impossible. I do remember my usual go-to characters would be Yoshi, Birdo, Bowser Jr., Bowser, Koopa Troopa, Paratroopa, Petey, and Boo.
...hell, now that I think about it, I've managed to go under the track too in MK64 and MKWii, but those don't seem to be as robust as MKDD.

I'm so happy to have been recommended this, bc double dash is my fav mario kart game, and I felt like the only person to think so, before someone mentioned preferring it over other mario karts. Can't remember who.

THEY BROKE BABY
WELP. It’s official, Double Dash is now in the running for the most non functional Mario Kart Game. Literally every single game in the series is BUSTED AS SHIT.
SMK: computers are Uber difficult and the tracks + technical skills are extremely difficult to master
SM64: computers ignore level geometry and rubber banding scales to the player’s speed no matter the value; oh you can also completely break the timer, Lakitu, AND level geometry all at the same time.
MKSS: jump through walls, go wherever and the lap will count as long as you’re behind the finish line somewhere. Computers are the same as the SNES; except with 64 physics and items.
DD: make the cars bounce does weird glitches n shit IDK - the developers probably
DS: S N A K E. Rubber banding returns for two karts only. Usual checkpoint shenanigans. Fuck your time trials. Drive into walls to doge everything.
Wii: skip the whole track, drive out of bounds, crazy items, and motion controls.
MK7: “Come fly with me…”. Computers can now drive straight off the track. Some tracks go backwards now.
MK8: yeah the glider is still broken. Snaking but it’s more mini than turbo, also Wii chaos with 3DS COMs
I don’t know how I forgot to put that you can just drive into the finish line to win in SMK?
