    Thanks John, I am in the process now of looking to buy a 2008 Bentley Cont. GT and the maintenance was one issue that I wanted someone to address. Fortunately, I live in GA and as a veteran I don't pay for yearly tag fee as you do in SC. In fact I won't be paying tag fees for the two cars that I will have. Now, I will have the sales tax, a one time chg. but that shouldn't be that bad. I also, appreciated your comment about driving on a regular basis or not, in my case not. I figure I would probably only bring it out on Sunday and that driving would amount to about 25 miles in total. Thanks again!!!

    I bought a 2008 with 53000 Miles a little over a year ago I drove it 12000 miles so far and can just confirm you are spot on with the maintenance cost ,actually in Florida the yearly tax is just $ 80.00
    Hagerty is great they are very liberal with their miles and you don't have to proof to them like other Classic car insurance.
    I had to replace the right strut Arnott $ 1250 including labor,control arm bushing $ 480 including labor ,tires {Kumo} $ 700,wiper blades $125.00,Cabin filter $ 100, air filter $ 165.00,oil and filter $ 100

      @@JohnEngel I agree. You can't really complain about mpg when you buy a car with 550+hp stock. The twin turbo W-12 is bound to burn a lot of fuel. But in a Bentley Expenses video I feel like it should at least be mentioned.
      I'm currently in the market for a used AWD daily driver, and I happened to notice 05-06 Continentals going for ~$36k. It checks all the boxes I'm looking for: looks good, AWD, shiftable auto, has power. But I think the expenses alone are what is going to turn me away from this vehicle. These are amazing cars if you can find a well maintained low mile example with all original paint and service records. I don’t think there is a better luxury GT for the price that these cars sink to, from new. I also do my own minor service and would not hesitate to tackle minor service and repair on this well designed super Coupe. I have a low mile 2006, that I use on average one day a week minimum, as I also have multiple cars, that will all hold value now, at their depreciated lows.

    Hey guys I dont know the best way to get a hold of people on here to answer this question but hopefully people see this... Question: Is the best/only option to get the equity out of your car your leasing by putting that equity into another car loan that is at least 110-120% more then your equity, so that you can just pay off that 10-20% equity and then you have the car out right and you can sell it, if you dont understand this is what i mean.... Ex: My fleet of nice cars are $1500 to principal/month but there is no way to get at the principal for years unless you buy out the car, until now...? Say that 1500/month ive been paying for 2 years so i have $36k in equity, i then can use that $36k equity to lease a $36k-$45k car and then buy it out right away and sell it for full profit..... Please tell me if im wrong or what the best option is to do i cant find any information on this.

      Dream4Pro this is such a good question. I see what your talking about with trying to utilize your equity from your fleet. I take it that you one loan for multiple vehicles?

      @@JohnEngel I actually have not done it via one loan i would simply have to buy multiple cars sadly but its better then having no way out if something tragic happens etc. But it seems straight forward enough i don't know why it wouldn't be possible to do.

      @devonr7497 Před 4 lety +1

      @@JohnEngel I also have a super good strategy for the best way to lease cars (next to full on car hacking) You simply do a 96 month loan (max you can do) and then buy out the car in 60 months instead of just getting a 60 month loan ... by doing this you will save 50% on your monthly payment but will pay the exact same in interest, and in 5 years that amount will be chump change and ill most likely just keep holding it for the full 96 months and just pay that extra couple years interest if my opportunity
      cost is still super high and i dont have a ton of money sitting around un able to be invested.

    Ok, thanks for this info. To those interested, I have a Bentley Cont GT Sport and having owned Range Rover V8's in the past I was surprised at the fuel usage, this car has a lot of power and its easy to use it, of course the result is really bad mileage.But, when on the open road, it is on par with my 2nd car "Toyota Rav4 2.0L"if you can behave that is!, I was surprized and somewhat impressed. In comparison to my last Range Rover, the Bentley is much cheaper to run daily and of course the Bentley does it better..

    Entertaining video, but not really helpful. In short, if you do the standard preventative maintenance yourself and you don’t have a repair, then it’s not much more expensive than any other car. You can say the exact same thing about every single luxury car.

    • @JohnEngel
      @JohnEngel  Před 4 lety +1

      L Champ thank you for the comment. I agree and disagree. You can buy a Ferrari and have a lot more issues because they are not made with the QC as the VW group. A lot of what you said above is what people wanted to know. Ultimately the Bentley Continental GT is a reliable luxury car. People have a misconception that because it’s a Bentley that it will not be reliable and this video shows that it is and how much it costs.

    • @lchamp7946
      @lchamp7946 Před 4 lety +2

      John Engel Thank you for taking the time to respond! While I agree with some of what you said, you really go over maintenance cost of a vehicle that you drive less than 3k miles/yr. Once again, not enough usage to really get an accurate account of cost of ownership. It would have been helpful to know what some of the more common and expected repairs would cost, as all cars have certain repairs that are expected due to engineering compromises/oversights. Thanks again for the video, and hope that you are still enjoying the Bentley.
