The biggest difference is the pain tolerance, Raiden just becomes more violent when he get's stabbed, whereas Genji spams "i need healing" after losing 1 hp

Genji got punched into a car and was out for the count. Raiden was punched with a blow powerful enough to blast the remains of Metal Gear Excelsus to chunks (which could barely be considered remains, since almost the entire mech was intact after the boss fight), got up without so much as a scratch, and killed the guy who did it
As much as i like Genji, did anyone here think he actually stood a chance? He is fighting Raiden afterall, a guy who can suplex building sized walking tanks.

billy's basement raiden is still much faster, his mgs 4 cyborg body is probably enough to beat genji. Hell, gray fox aka the perfect soldier in his human form can be a challenge for genji, and it would be win with his exoskeleton. I just don’t think genji has enough feats to beat any of the cyborg ninjas. Raiden would beat him due to his speed and strength, and fox would beat him due to his experience and sword fighting.
I love it when any form of media do the cliche "person doesn't feel the cut of the sword until sword is sheathed" cause like id like to imagine like someone living their entire life after some epic sword battle having a getting married having a family etc and then one day someone randomly finds the sword they were cut with sheaths it and the dude drops dead suddenly

Everybody brings up Raiden's MGR feats, but his best strength feats are in MGS4, in an inferior body. Raiden hilariously outclasses Genji. Genji wouldn't even be a miniboss in MGR

Genji is balanced in his game right, but in his game hes going against some relatively normal opponents. But raiden is balanced in his game, but in his game hes litterally ripping of swords from robots the size of multiple sky scrapers and using their foot ball feild long sword to fight them faster than the game can see even in slow mo. This really shouldnt have been anywhere close to fair. Raiden is stupidly over powerd
You are not getting hate in the slightest. You are absolutely correct and on point and I completely agree with you. Genji only managed to put up a fight for the purposes of entertainment. In reality, Raiden would've sliced through Genji within 5 seconds: possibly even less than a second through the use of blademode. Genji was outclassed in every single aspect.

I get that this fight was fairly long for cinematic purposes, and it's great and all but c'mon. We all know Raiden would literally slice Genji in two just like Hanzo did like 3 seconds after the fight starts. He wouldn't even NEED to resort to Ripper Mode. The fight would be over before Genji could even draw his sword.

Not necessarily Zoros swords may be made of some fine materials but nothing can stop Raiden's sword from just cutting right through then in one swoop.

So to anyone OW fans confused how their favorite ninja could have possibly lost, let's break it down.
In their promo trailer Genji and Hanzo have an intense duel. This in itself is the reason Genji could never hope to beat Raiden. Regardless of how powerful his dragon ability is, at the end of the day Hanzo is an archer. A really dang good archer with sci-fi arrows but ultimately he is just a guy with a bow and arrow. Sure Genji won, but if he wants to fight in the same ring as Raiden he would have needed to defeat him instantly. The fact that Genji is in the league of characters who can't 1HKO instant pub-stomp any given dude with bow proves it impossible for him to defeat Raiden. Because while Genji is super soldier tier: Raiden is Superman tier.
Raiden's greatest strength feat involves him picking up a massive mech-suit the size of an air-field(named Metal Gear Excelsus if you want to see its immense size for itself) and he does that thing Hulk did to Loki in the Avengers movie(if you don't know what that is look up "Avengers puny god scene," and you should find it). He flips that massive war machine over his head and slams it to the ground hard. These are the kind of strength feats that in a superhero movie are used to make the hero look invincible. Raiden pulls this crap all the time, he once did what amounted to break dancing with two At-ST sized robots tied to his feet so he could use them as giant flails. Even if Genji can match him in speed and skill there is no comparison in strength. His strength is just so overwhelming in that first sword clash he should've cut through Genji's sword and straight through Genji himself.
So next time you question who would win Genji or Raiden, just remember: Genji throws shurikens and Raiden throws giant battle robots.

Rio Da Weirdo Yes. That's how you establish superiority in the newly salvaged brotherhood. But seriously even outside of the trailer most OW characters fall into the category of super soldiers. Raiden murders super soldiers like it is his job: because it is.
Though to be fair, somebody did the maths on his deflect to show how fast he is, the fact he can deflect a full team of bastions and actually send the bullets back at full strength shows how strong he actually is that it's kind of dumb. Though the same guy did the maths on there melee attacks and I remember that being absurd as well.
Either way, this was a very good dbx, just don't like seeing a crowd get bashed either way unjustifiably-yet you putting that wall is fine to others. (Also quickly double checked it's shoddycast)
I agree with your overall point but did you just say Raiden is superman tier? He can't even lift 1% of what superman can. Tone down the hyperbole.
Aight "Superman in the shows where the plot only works when he doesn't have the strength to pull planets around" tier. You know the tier of flying through cement walls, throwing buildings, getting shot in the face by a tank. If you can recommend to me another widely known and iconic character who better represents that tier I am open to suggestions.

Genjis dragon Soba in terms of power yes, but the rest of the stats Raiden has surpassed Genji in so many ways, Genji is strong but the rest of Raiden’s stats is beyond that of Genji’s dude, this fight here is basically similar to Guts vs Knightmare, one has power but is literally weak in everything else, the other has far lower power but the rest of his stats is leagues insane, it’s like saying an underdeveloped dude wielding an insanely strong weapon can beat a super high veteran with years of combat experiences and insane training wielding a strong enough weapon or a squishy but stupidly powerful tank against a fast moving tank with an above average armament.

Should do Raiden vs Ryu Hayabusa. Super skilled Cyborg Ninja vs. Extremely skilled magic Ninja. Metal Gear Slayer vs. Giant Demon Slayer. Both have faced excessively skilled opponents as well. It would be fairly interesting for a full on Death Battle (I don't care if you've already done Raiden AND Ryu both). I always find it interesting to pair science versus magic. Especially when the characters are so similar in their profession..... And have names that start with the same letter....

well here's a fight i would like to see death battle do and that is Dante from devil may cry versus Ryu Hayabusa from ninja gaiden devil hunter VS demon slayer :)

It was good from a thematic standpoint, but if we're talking actual combat ability, Raiden would just curbstomp Genji, nanoboosted or not. Dude takes down friggin metal gears like nobodies business, and I doubt the entire Overwatch team could handle a single one, let alone Genji by himself. That's not even factoring in his Ripper Mode, or Zandatsu, or the myriad of weapons he acquired over the course of Revengeance. A fun fight to watch, but not a very realistic one (Well, realistic relatively speaking to cyborg ninjas).

They are part of the story. should show up as the story continues.The funny thing is most over watch people would kill him with a head shot. Too many people are trying to say a character that can manipulate time like tracer or widow maker who can shoot him before he would even get near her, reaper who can go incorporeal & the others, none of can stop raiden? No chance not a one. A time manipulater?! Sorry no not going for that. Not saying everyone in ow can handle raiden, but none of them? No. Raiden slow down time bs is just him using processing power. He is crunching numbers fast. Which is not something to sneeze at but put this into perspective. raiden did all this stuff to kill a metal gear. Snake can beat one practically with a hand gun & grit.

Genji has a deflect move. his dragon charge. there are plenty of characters that are in over watch can go up against raiden that have abilities he hasn't faced. He is fast & so are other characters in over watch. Snake with regular guns beat grey wolf. Not saying everyone in ow can beat him but he wouldn't just kill all of them. they have some one who makes black holes. He just isn't. genji has skills & no open weakness unlike raiden who has an eye patch because his head is a huge weakness.
I like Genji a lot more, but this was a no brainer. Raiden does absolutely ridiculous stuff in his game.

For all thoseGenji mainers over there - try playing Metal Gear Rising and see how OP Raiden is. That guy can slice through giant Metal Gears who were build to survive nuclear wars and has the Blade Mode which can slow down time to a near complete stop. It matter little what it is called, when you are shooting at Genji while he is using the ability he sends the incoming bullets where he aims to. He can send it right at his attacker (in which case he is reflecting). So this is more impressive, then simply deflecting them.
A Genji players use this ability to reflect like most of the time, and sometimes for escape.

The fact that it was not even 2 minutes and Genji got sliced apart shows how hilariously weak he is compared to Raiden even though I main him in overwatch. But I also play MGR and Raiden is my favorite video game character and I can clarify that he clearly was not trying at all whatsoever. The animation is clearly tied to the lore and story, not the two characters in their own respective franchises.

Not really, since Raiden's synthetic muscles are made of nanotubes which are more durable and stronger than diamond. A HF blade similar to Raiden's would be required to cut through it. However, it would take a few swings before the nanotubes would be weakened enough to slice through.

You guys didn't consider the weight difference between those two. In the game, we can easily notice that Raiden is very heavy and Genji gets thrown through the air by Hanzo who is just a human. So Genji is much lighter

For anyone who thinks Genji is stronger than Raiden, here's some quick math.
In Metal Gear Solid 4, Raiden held back the battleship Outer Haven. While the ship doesn't have an official weight, I can use it's official dimensions to estimate it's volume. Also, I'll reduce it to 20% to compensate the empty space.
Height: 125 m
Width: 135 m
Length: 640 m
Volume: 10,800,000 m³
Emptied volume: 2,160,000 m³
Assuming Outer Haven is made of steel (which has a density of 7800 kg/m³), then Outer Haven weighs 16,848,000 metric tons. Also, Outer Haven has an official speed of 40 knots, or 20.58 m/s. With this I can get the impact force with the formula 2mv÷t.
For the contact time I'll use the formula a=v²÷2d to get the acceleration and use it to get the time needed to go from 20.58 m/s to 0. For the distance I'll assume about 2 meter to stop it.
(20.58 m/s)²÷(2×(2 m)) = 105.8841 m/s²
(20.58 m/s)÷(105.8841 m/s²) = 0.19436 s
2×(16,848,000,000 kg)×(20.58 m/s)÷(0.19436 s) = 3.56787×10^12 N
(3.56787×10^12 N)÷(9.81 m/s²) = 363,697,312.29357 metric tons
So in his old Cyborg body Raiden was capable of stopping 363,697,312 tons. Oh and the best part? Raiden did this after having a building fall on him and cutting off his own arm. I can't even begin to fathom how much stronger he is than Genji.
I need some actual proof as to how Genji could win, not just fanboy logic.
As for speed, Genji's base speed is 6.6 m/s or 14.7638 MPH. Even if I double that to 29.5276 MPH, he's still nowhere near Raiden. Want to add Swift Strike to his speed? Alright, sure.
So, first we calculate Swift Strike's speed which starts at 15 meters over 0.2 seconds (Provided by the overwatch.guide), so that would come out to 75 m/s or 175 MPH if he was able to use that constantly. Add that to his base speed (I'll even use the doubled speed) and all you've got is 204.576 MPH. That's cute.
Now for Raiden.
Raiden is so fast that things like a helicopter's propeller and bullets from a moving fighter jet flying towards him while on another jet flying in the opposite direction moves in slow motion from his perspective.
He can also use missiles from a Hammehead helicopter as stairs. Hammerheads use AIM-9 Sidewinder missiles, which can reach speeds of 850 m/s or 1901.4 MPH, that's Mach 2.5. Raiden can deflect fire from pretty much any kind of firearm, from machine guns to sniper rifles.
Even in his weaker and slower human body, he was able to defeat Solidus Snake, who was able to deflect automatic fire from a Metal Gear RAY. Since Metal Gears (specially RAYs) are made with technology far more advanced than our real world's, it's very likely that the bullets they shoot are as fast as the fastest bullet in our world. The .220 Swift can reach a speed of 4665 fps or 1421.892 m/s or 3180.68 MPH, that's Mach 4.182. Raiden could dodge missiles in his fights against a group of Metal Gear RAYs. He was also able to deflect automatic fire from 4 shooters at once.
As a human, he also dodged a shot of Fortune's railgun. Fortune's railgun was a miniaturized version of the same ones used in Metal Gears, which could fire nuclear warheads at speeds of 100 km/s or 223693.63 MPH, or Mach 294. Raiden dodged it after it was already fired and was already half way. This isn't an outlier as an old Solid Snake was also able to dodge a more technologically advanced railgun.
Also, while mixing Blade and Ripper mode, he moved so fast that rain looked frozed for an extended period of time.

1 px = 3.77358×10^-5 m
Rain terminal velocity = 9 m/s
(3.77358×10^-5 m)÷(9 m/s) = 4.19287×10^-5 s
Watching the scene frame by frame, the slow motion lasts about 17.07 s, which means the slow motion scene is 4,071,195x normal time. Raiden is 5'10" or 1.778 m, so his arm and blade together is 1.361 m. He swings his sword in a 180° angle, so his sword travels 4.2758188 m. He swings in exactly 0.2 second, which means in in-game time, he swings at 21.379094 m/s. So:
(21.379094 m/s)(4,071,195x) = 87,038,460.59733 m/s
Ripper Blade mode = Mach 255,995.47 or 29.0128% the speed of light
Considering both modes together are a x70 speed boost, Raiden's base speed would be around 1,243,406.58 m/s (2,781,421.30 MPH) or Mach 3657.078.
So as far as speed goes? Raiden proves faster than Genji.
Honestly, this match up was unfair from the start. Genji should've gone up against a different ninja because these two are in completely different worlds. Or universes even. I like Genji as a character, but he does not have enough feats to begin to compare to Raiden.
