  • In todays video peace from Luník IX! That's exactly how my last experience was = Peaceful. I wouldn't even say I have balls of steel for this one, it is what it is. Many years this place has been portrayed on internet as a extremely dangerous place don't go there you will get your wallet taken, phone robbed, and camera stolen. Honestly my first experience was hectic because you have to realise these people live in poverty in the slums with no water or central heating, majority of the adults that have families in Luník 9 don't have jobs because they will not be accepted, I don't know why?. I am really grateful because I was introduced to a really nice welcoming Roma Gypsy family who made me leave with a positive experience for visiting Luník 9. In today's video I will be going back to the slums in Slovakia Košice to document the real life realty on how the local Romani Gipsies live in Luník 9. I was also lucky enough to see how the prepare their traditional Gypsy food for me it was a really unique and surreal experience.

Having had seen Romani Gypsie children in Moravian County. Observed as a tram passenger, a family w/ dad'n'children-inna-de-tram of Moravian city. The Family man was taking the youth somewhere and he had no shirt on (as it was this time of the yr). Also, when u see kids on the street w/o toys in their hands. It can cause one to dwell into deep thoughts about the kind of neighborhoods in the suburbs of cities.

      the problem is they dont really deserve the better life like 99% of the people are making kids to get money from the goverment, the money comes from taxes that our parents are working hard for to pay. in lunik 9 every single family has like 7kids that equals to 400-700euros a month they usually dont take care of the kids and the kids then needs to go out and beg for money. So I dont think they actually deserve a better life. they could work they could do anything but they simply dont want to and they enjoy to live of someone elses hard earned money

    • @blueskyalldayeveryday
      @blueskyalldayeveryday Před 4 měsíci

      The government is ignoring the issue because it's way too complex. If you're REALLY interested in this topic, I suggest you do some research and you'll see for yourself (not just from CZcams videos but from proper resources). It's also not just about Lunik, the problem with poor gypsy communities exists across the entire country. Quite frankly, I don't know what the solution is. But the gvt should finally stop ignoring it. Unfortunately, we live in a populist era, just like any other country of this world where the politicians are only looking to fill their own pockets and not serve the people, so they are promising to address popular issues and poor communities is definitely not high on voters' priority lists, so no political party cares either...

      he did record the same stuff in his earlier videos smartass
      and Leo even says it himself at the end..."there are 7-8 good families and the rest is..."
      also, if you have watched some older videos, it looks worse because it was...now the Lunik IX has 2000 people living there...there were 15 000 people living there in the past...metres high hills of thrash under the windows have been cleaned up before the pope's visit, they get water only some times a day because they don't pay for it (unlike Leo's family which has it)
      some don't have electricity because all the copper from the lines was stolen
      also so many younger ones speak english because many of them or their families have been working in other EU countries and making money considerably raising the standards....
      there is also point of rising economy since the country's ascension into the EU....All slovaks including gypsies are better off now than before and gypsy middle class is on the rise...in the recent elections, 5 out of 150 elected MPs were gypsies...also the mayor of the district is doing some major work
      so the situation is getting better, albeit slowly
      so, Lunik IX is a really bad place and if they could, they wouldn't be living there. There are many Romanis who live in Kosice but not all of them on the Lunik IX...most of them are better off than Leo's family
      and Andre isn't the only one who has been in Lunik IX or had positive interactions or stuff filmed there...

    Bravo, Andre! I said in my comments to your first video that you needed a guide, and you found one. Obviously, he introduced you to a "friendly" family, and you have to realize not everybody would have been so welcoming, but they were great. Some points of interest: The buildings are in disgusting shape, but that is not the fault of the residents. The inside of the apartments was pristine, if crowded. As I understand it, Roma have a long tradition of cleanliness and hygiene, far from the way they are seen by outsiders. Everything was colorful too - also typical Roma. The daughters-in-law did the cooking (and probably most of the housework - we saw one sweeping), while the mother acted as a gracious host. Which is fine - she once did her turn as the daughter-in-law who did all the work too, and now she's earned her turn on the stage.
    It was generous of the family who lived in a homemade hovel to allow you to film - the inside of their house was also pristine. So sad that he lost a son to drug addiction, but I loved the way he looked forward to his birthday party with his children and grandchildren.
    You made one mistake in this one - pushing them to tell you the Romani words for simple phrases. I know you were trying to connect with them, but their language is private to Roma.
    You finally took the hat off! Didn't it occur to you that it was making you hot?
    Bravo anyway!

      Don't write unverified nonsense. They are not discriminated against. They got the apartments for free, they destroyed them themselves. Everyone who pays for water has water. At least they learned to throw garbage in the containers, because until recently they threw it under the windows. They receive social benefits, allowances for each child. Anyone who wants to and who is healthy and responsible can work. Children go to school, they can continue further education if they are interested. Better work, better pay. Their health insurance is paid for by the state, public resources, that is, from people's taxes.

    • @m0d4rx
      @m0d4rx Před 10 měsíci +2

      Yes, they keep the inside of their homes in good shape, but it ends there. The shape of the buildings is not the fault of the residents? Are you kidding? You should know how these people treat the properties the government gives them / lets them live in. A new building gets devastated within months. Surrounding properties are almost immediately taken apart, everything that can be stolen is. The fact that some of these people are sometimes welcoming doesnt mitigate the fact that 98% of them dont work, 85+% of them base their living on stealing and getting benefits. I have lived close to the same kind so I know what im talking about. You do NOT want to be anywhere near them.
