    Great video. Very nice explanation of the tricky drivers. It is wonderful to see the Fab cylinder on your channel. Thank you.

    Hi Harry, Interesting to see the pins in this lock. Although not exactly the same as the original Aussie Lockwoods, there are certain similarities. The bevel on the key pins, and the taper on the drivers are reversed on the Lockwood locks, but apparently have a similar effect on sp picking. Your picking technique is obviously the way to go with these type of pins. Thanks for showing. Regards, Brian.

      I like the really long tapers on these drivers… not quite as long as the ones in the Lockwoods. But without the same severe taper in the key pins, this FAB should be easily opened with heavy tension (as I showed). If you tried this method on an old Lockwood like the ones you sent me, you would end up with half the keypins overset... unless you use the method I showed in the Lockwood video for checking on overset pins. That can be very frustrating. The tricky part of the Lockwoods IMO is the combination of the tapers on both the drivers and key pins.

    I noticed this was a 5 min pick & gut, so as soon as you started on about how many times it takes to set each pin I knew you'd be pleasantly surprised soon after haha! Great pick! Thanks for showing me something new, again.
    And thanks for the sub, I do appreciate it. Looking forward to any insight you may bring.

    Interesting drivers - never seen these kind of modification. Something I have to remember for my next locks that I make. Nice picking also - very quick.

      They would be interesting in challenge locks that otherwise require light tension. Consider a taper on the kit pins as well, Lockwood style!

      Thanks... and get yours out of the naughty bucket and start picking! With heavy tension you will have this open in no time at all!

    I'm a total newbie to lockpicking and several days ago my father gave me some FAB cylinder locks to try to pick. I'm really strugling here, so I will try a heavier tension but I think I also need better tension wrenches

    • @lockpickinglawyer
      @lockpickinglawyer  Před 8 lety

      Thanks. Hard tension is all you need to know. Moderate tension triples the pick time. Light tension... no chance.

    Dammit! I just starded my picking journey and since basically there are only FAB locks in my country I am stuck on these monsters I can't open :D

    Thanks for showing the inside of the lock(pins), I sure looks like it's had a hard life by the etching on the pins 😯😯😯
    Super picking , very fast👍👍😘😎🍻🔓
    A question ( and this is not a comment about your picking),do you think with the removal of the circlip on the rear of the lock would aid a picker.
    Making it easier to open or not??🤔🤔.
    I think the reduction of the resistance on the core may aid a picker ever so slightly, I would love to hear your views on this 👍👍🤔

    • @hugomartel8552

      i dont think so :)

    • @lockpickinglawyer
      @lockpickinglawyer  Před 8 lety

      For this lock... no difference. For others in which the clip is not well-fit and it adds turning resistance, then it certainly could make a lock harder to pick. Think about the rubber O ring in the back of the 10-Lever Ingersoll Miracle Locks... it's only purpose was the deaden the feel of the lock, and it's a powerful anti-pick feature. Same thing on a miss-fitted clip on the lock.

    great picking lawyer,
    i got the same lock for practice at home for some time.
    i always picking it but when i start rotate the lock its getting stuck in about 100degrees.
    its like the known getting stuck in 180 degrees but way sooner.
    you have any idea why is that?

    • @lockpickinglawyer
      @lockpickinglawyer  Před 8 lety

      Thanks. No idea about a stop at 100 degrees. are you sure its the same model? Sounds like a trap pin.

    I watched your video on the abus 25 disc dimple lock and it kind of looks like your using the dimple picks from spooxe. Is that correct? If so, how do you like them I use typically use my souber set and sometimes my southord and was thinking about getting the set from spooxe.com but 125 euros for the whole set is ridiculously expensive for like 8 dimple picks and some wrenchs. How do u like them

    • @lockpickinglawyer
      @lockpickinglawyer  Před 8 lety +1

      They are spooxe, and yes they are pricy. I doubt I would have spent so much on them, but I got them for free… a very nice “thank you” from someone who was borrowing my highly modified dimple picks. In any case, the Spooxe are about the best on the market right now, but that may change soon. Don’t was to say more, but keep your eye on the major players for new products. As for Souber… well, let me start by saying pick preferences are highly personal. What some people like, others may loathe. That said, I can’t use the Souber picks. They are one of my most regretted purchases. The flat shafts tend to move pins I don’t intend to move, and they have WAY too much flex for me… so much that I feel like feedback and precision is significantly dampened. But take all that with a grain of salt. Some very good pickers use Soubers and love them.

    Hello. I was also wondering where you got your pinning tray. All commercially available ones are crap in my opinion. Did you make it yourself or did someone make it for you? If you bought it from a place I'd like to know where. Thanks

    • @lockpickinglawyer
      @lockpickinglawyer  Před 8 lety

      Sorry, but I made it myself... but there's hope. I recently gave the measurements to someone in the picking community with CNC capabilities... He has plans to make them for sale. I'd keep an eye out on the picking forums in the coming weeks/months. There's a good chance you will be pleasantly surprised. What's more, I'm a crap machinist (to the extent that you can call me a machinist). The one's that will likely hit the market will be much nicer.
