- Recorded on Nov 16, 1980, Manly P. Hall gave this lecture, "Psychic Self-Destruction: Releasing the Mind from Regrets and Self-Censure" in front of a live audience in Los Angeles.
Like very many of his lectures, Mr. Hall speaks about the futility of trying to blame others for our troubles, and instead, looking within for the solutions.
This was transcribed as Lecture Note 278. The CC subtitles on this video reflect the edited and approved transcript, which will differ slightly from the original audio. This is interesting, because it shows Manly Hall's process with 'correcting' his spoken word lecture into a written word pamphlet. Very little changes, mostly small edits for clarity and readability.

I nearly drank myself to death over my regrets. Regrets about things I'd done, regrets about the things I didn't do or take advantage of when I was younger, all sorts of regrets. Regrets, more regrets, and then regretting that I was regretting my regrets. It was an amazing cycle, one that I had to go through to get where I am today. And once I truly understood this truth (everything that has happened to me has led me to this moment, and any changes may have led me down a different path; cause & effect), I suddenly realized that I haven't ever wasted even a single moment in my life. Not even once.
Every moment that I spent regretting my past led me to where I am now. And I couldn't be more thankful! Every challenge, every mistake made, and every triumph are now opportunities for learning and growth. I have no regrets for my past whatsoever, and no fear of the future. ⭐⭐⭐

there should be a greater emphasis on the importance of making reparations with victims before discarding a regret. most often, that is the part a perpetrator wants to skip over, hence not really learning from their regrets.
repentance is not a process to underestimate. it will return us to God if done fully within the heart.
altho Manly P Hall speaks some wisdom, he was murdered by a friend who he entrusted his estate and life to, who had failed to murder him the night previous to his murder. he is not a perfect man, so do not get too giddy with a flawed man's permission to abide by easy answers.
