They're definatly not a common thing these days. Down my way we still have some Family Lines wood chip hoppers that have likely been here since new.
Good find on the boxcar. Keep em coming.

I know what you mean. I didn't live close enough to run to the tracks from my home but my father & I were always taking railfaning runs. We usually stayed local but did take some trips out west to Nebraska, Wyoming & Colorado.

There's nothing quite like a Leslie. They just don't make'em like they use to.

I have to add one. In Michigan C&O bought Pere Marquette (Michigan/Ohio) in the 1940's. It would be nice to see a jet black SD70ACe with some white accents and a gold #1225 under the window and Pere Marquette down the long hood. Some Kahlenberg Air whistles would be nice to. Dream on!

I can't give you an exact date but it should be somewhere around '89.

Well, the old C&O, no matter how classic and how loved it was, it was looking extremely dirty and the paint was badly faded. I don't think trying to have washed would of helped, but the old SBD, looked still in top condition, so that was stupid for them to repaint that one. Looks like the only thing CSX has left are heritage freight cars.
