Formula E is also super fun, Rally Cross also goes backwards this season from all electric to electric vs ice.
A NASCAR EV? Oh boy this will rustle some feathers! 😂
STCC is electric. Acronym meaning Swedish Touring Car Championship. Teslas, BMWs and VWs.
Great video but please don’t respond or heart the bot comments and delete them if that’s possible please. They’re only hear to get people to click on some links in their profiles. Sorry if I’m asking too much by the way.
Cheers Sandy Munro and the team
Cool stuff.
Closed loop racing seems perfect for inductive charging while racing. This could mean a smaller battery to buffer the charging.
reminds me of the 1/32nd scale and 1/24th scale Revell slot cars of the 1960's. They all used the same electric motors and an adjustable chassis, but the plastic bodies were different so you could race a Ferrari, Lotus, Jaguar, etc. using the same adjustable chassis and changing the wheel sizes as needed.
Thank you so much. Love NASCAR. Appreciate you.
Very happy to see Sandy interview David Ragan! Hearing the views of a Nascar Cup driver with wins at Daytona and Talladega was informative and got me excited and optimistic for the future (inevitable) transition of Nascar to EV racing.
“The Impact” as Leno said, “Flaming Ball of Death was already taken.”
I Love this channel ❤ I love to see the excitement of Sandy and Tom with new electrification technology. This is a big changing era, and America is leading the automobile EV, also in racing, like this NASCAR ABB prototype. I was waiting 40 years to see something exciting about car racing, las time was the 80's with the Renaul turbo engine for Formula1 (but BMW was the first winner in 1983 of the turbo era), also the Audi Quattro (4 wheel drive and turbo) for the Rally Championship. We are very sad to not seeing Japanese and Italian automakers in this new electrification era.
thanks Sandy
With all due respect Mr Munro, but the most interesting part of this video starts at
I can see the depression/hostility on that young drivers face.
Wireless charging tracks....
A Nascar EV race could be either battery swap or 2 cars where one is charging the other racing.
I can already tell that they had the Mach E and Blazer EV in mind when designing the look of the prototype.
This will work after solid state is done for light weight, fast charging, safety and range.
In regards to hearing the wind around the car, you could use that audio when at Daytona or Talladega for on board shots in the race. Anybody with surround sound or even stereo could hear the draft-able air around the car.
