    Great video! Thank your for explaining. I got intimidated watching other videos where they have lifted it up and removed the tires but this was very good and informative. Im not gonna lie though, I giggled at 5:32

    Be careful how tight you adjust to. A chain that’s too tight can snap and do hundreds of dollars of damage. Leave a little slack…

    Thank you so much! I threw a chain last weekend due to it being too loose, and I thought I was going to have to buy a new chain. (I thought the chain was stretched/worn out.) Fixing this will be much easier than I thought.

    Follow service manual! On any atv or motorcycle with a swingarm/solid axle setup, the suspension needs to be compressed with a ratchet strap until the rear sprocket aligns with the front sprocket and swingarm pivot point, this is geometrically the location where the chain will tightest. Take a stiff straight object such as a very long screwdriver and make sure the centerlines of those 3 points match up. If the chain tension is set at the wrong swingarm angle, you could break the chain and potentially it blows your engine cases, sprockets, have brutal bottoming of rear suspension when chain goes tight. Its probably more common people adjust it too tight, but if its too loose thats very bad also, you could throw it off, maybe break engine cases, could damage sprockets, hopefully not your foot!

    You should have somebody sitting on the wheeler while you are doing this because your body weight will cause the chain to tighten, otherwise you will get it too tight.

    Thank you so much for good instructions. The chain on my Scrambler 4x4 500 just broke off. Are there any of you who can help me with a web link to the right chain. I live in Norway and we do not have many Polaris dealers in the area, so I am thinking of buying online. Thanks in advance.

    Brother, i have a 99 scrambler 500 and i replaced front calipers/pads/rotors, rear pads, rear axle and bearings and orings and seals and chain and sprocket and i adjusted chain. Drove it 18 miles and at 35 mph it felt like someone pulled the damn breaks. I pulled belt cover and belt was out of spec. Replaced it and pulled primary and cleaned it all up and now it squeels when i turn handlebars and or at idle which it also keeps movingg forward. Then i pulled breaks and it really squealed and ass end was all bound up. Jacked rear up and in N i could spin axle almost all the way one rotation but then it binds up again.
    Any ideas man? Sons xmas gift and so i have a sad 9 yr old.

    Help. I'm new to ATVs. I have a 93 polaris 250. My chain was so slack that I thought to remove a link. That part was fine. Problem now is that it's too short. Even if the other link was still in it the gap is too big. I'm trying to tighten up the axle housing so the chain will fit but it won't swivel. I've hit it with a penetrant and will try in an hour. Any other ideas?

    • @jiujitsu2000
      @jiujitsu2000  Před 3 lety +1

      Sounds like you're doing everything right. I would recommend being patient and letting the penetrating will have plenty of time soaking man eventually I think you'll be able to loosen the chain
