  • How To: New rear chain and sprocket set on a Polaris Xplorer. Last one lasted about 400 miles of trail riding. This video should be the same for the 300 or 400L engines, years 1995-1999 (I am not 100% sure the years).
I picked up the parts on Amazon for $55. Just search for: Polaris Xplorer 400L Gold O Ring Chain & Rear Sprocket Set
Don't forget to set the chain tension: • How to Set Polaris Xpl...

Thanks for the video. I have a 97 polaris xplorer 300 4x4 and this is the only vid out there I could find to help do this job. Down to earth, simple and a major help. Thanks again.

Thank you so much for making this video, by far the best video explaining how to do this on CZcams. Any way you could show how to do the front chains and sprockets also ?

I could, but those wear out like 4 to 1 compared to the rear. They are also a PIA to do and I just did the originals (29 yrs old), so I don't expect to do it again on the life left in this.

I notice my output sprocket was loose and used this video for help getting the old one off. It's still loose on the shaft. Thinking the tore up the teeth on the shaft should it have play or do I need a new shaft?

NEVER reverse a hook-toothed sprocket! It can grab the chain as it leaves and do a lot of damage. If it's hooked --- replace it.

Excellent advice. Don't be cheap people. I believe I said you could as people have done it.

Sorry for the late reply. I am not sure what o rings you are referring to. Harbor Freight or your local hardware store should have them. You can always google it to find what they are.

I got my chain and sprocket kit on Amazon of all places. Raceface was the brand sold by a few sellers.

@@MakerMaxCorbett Don't buy the parts from Polaris! One of their sprockets costs more than a brand name full chain and sprocket kit!
