    Man, thanks very much for this. I had already cleaned and serviced the carburetor, but it wouldn’t start upon putting it all back together. The pin-holes looked clean, but needed to be bored back out, or I just couldn’t tell how they were partially blocked. I did a deep clean with tack and nail on them, put it back together, and it ran wonderfully after this. I was fixing it for a friend, and had become so overly frustrated. Many bad experiences with lawn mowers over the years. Thanks, Hanks.

    I have the same Craftsman mower that I bought a year ago from Lowes and had a problem with it starting after sitting for almost a year. I took the filter off the carburetor and poured some gas into it and it started right up, but then it immediately died afterwards. I primed the mower and then added a little more fuel into the carb and it immediately started and stayed running. I was also able to restart it several times afterwards without it dying. Sometimes you have to remove the excess moisture that has accumulated from sitting during the winter. I would recommend using Sta-Bil storage fuel stabilizer and running it through the carburetor like I obviously forgot to do before storing the mower.

    I just got a free M100, and the guy said it would start but not stay running. I took the carburetor apart, and the little holes are clean, the float works great, and the needle valve is in good shape.
    It starts, but dies in under a second. It runs only with the fuel inteoduced by pressing the red bulb a few times. Once that fuel is gone, it dies. Not sure why it does not stay running. I'm not able to see if the butterfly moves from the fan action under the flywheel, but the butterfly (and the control rod assembly) opens and snaps closed again when moved manually.
    The fuel line from tank to carb flows freely.
    I'm fairly good handling small parts, so was careful disassembling and reassembling, including the 7- and 8mm-head screws.
    WTH?? Somehow, there is no vacuum pulling fuel from the bowl. At least, that's my guess. The frustrating part is I can't see what's going on down there on the linkages when I'm in behind the handle yanking rhe cord.
    I disassembled and reassembled the carburator just as your very well-made, nicely narrated video showed. Thank you for the video.

    • @hanksgarage_
      @hanksgarage_  Před 3 měsíci +1

      This is going to sound funny because it could be really simple. But I believe your issue is a gas cap problem. Replace the gas cap and you should be fine.

    • @logmeindangit
      @logmeindangit Před 3 měsíci

      @@hanksgarage_ Hi, Hank, it was not the cap ... this time! I disassembled the carb (for the third time, learning a little more each time) and took some silicone tubing I had on hand, and used it as a means of blowing air through every pasage in the carburetor and subcomponents I could find. I felt something come loose in one of those black plastic passages, and when I put it all back together, it made a strange sound - it STARTED! 😂
      The cap may cause simular problems, but that was ot the culprit *this* time.
      Thanks for the tip, though. I'll add it to the list.
