    From "Mr. Monk Is In The Air" (Season 5, Episode 13): Popular shock jock Max Hudson is doing his morning radio show when he gets a phone call. Across town at Max's house, his wife, Jeanette, has been found dead. In an apparent accident, Jeanette left the gas from her bedroom fireplace on, took a nap, and died of asphyxiation. Jeanette's sister, Linda, goes to Monk for help. Monk agrees to investigate, and after some snooping at Max's house, Monk agrees with Linda that Jeanette's death looks suspicious, and that Max was probably involved. But Max was on the air at the time Jeanette died. How could he have done it?

    Monk Synopsis: Adrian Monk (Emmy®-winner Tony Shalhoub) was once a rising star with the San Francisco Police Department, legendary for using unconventional means to solve the department's most baffling cases. But after the tragic and still-unsolved murder of his wife, Trudy, the devastated Monk becomes obsessive-compulsive. His psychological disorder has caused him to develop an abnormal fear of virtually everything: germs, heights, crowds... even milk. Monk's condition costs him his job, but he's back as a police consultant despite the unique challenges he encounters in his everyday life. These challenges lead Monk to hire a personal nurse, Sharona Fleming (Bitty Schram), who is always there to offer her assistance, even with the simplest of tasks (like organizing his sock drawer). Her less-than-subtle prodding keeps the "defective detective" on track in his investigations, as well as in his efforts to convince Captain Stottlemeyer (Ted Levine) to allow him to return to the force.

If I was at somebody else's house and we were planning on watching a movie or listening to some music I would pull my shoes off and touch each shoe before I pulled my socks off and put the socks in the shoes and touch each sock and it felt like I had to do that or something bad was going to happen and when people would see me doing that it terrified me I thought that they would think that I was a freak or unstable or weird in some way or deranged because in my mind that wasn't normal and I'm sure it didn't seem normal to them either.

      I felt a similar way through my life. I don't think I have OCD, but I do have autism and have tics like that. The main one I have is I need my body to have a "symmetrical feeling." For example, if I accidentally burn myself on some hot water or something, I will be extremely tempted to burn my other hand so they're even. Most of the time I can stop myself from doing it if it causes me pain, but if its something like scratching an itch on one side of my body I'll just follow it. Sometimes if I get hurt on one side, slapping the other side will be enough to make it seem even ish. It doesn't make any sense but, honestly very few tics do.

    It's interesting how Hollywood depends on benevolent sexism to be able to do lazy writing. They just criminally trespassed his home, with the help of his wife's sister.

    • @patricelockertanthony7630
      @patricelockertanthony7630 Před 2 lety +19

      It wasn't criminal trespass. She had a key that she'd gotten from her sister, and though her sister is deceased; as far as we know her welcome to use the key had not been revoked by the "'grieving" widower. It doesn't have to be her house. There just needed to have an understanding of welcome, the possession of key bestowed by one of the owners, and a lack of rescinding the welcome.

    • @ollimoore
      @ollimoore Před rokem +2

      I’m not sure exactly what your point is, but House MD has (actual) criminal trespassing instigated and carried out by men, pretty sure Sherlock does too and I’m sure there are more examples. This sort of thing is accepted by viewers not because of any kind of sexism but because they are the heroes/main characters and we all want them to be able to solve the case.
      I actually prefer it when lead characters do questionable or illegal things some of the time - especially if it doesn’t always work out - because it’s more interesting and engaging that way.
