    Great video and refreshing to see swinging wets. Sometimes the old ways still work the best.

    I hit 14 fish on the nymph yesterday on our lovely Welsh trout river, I went back down this evening and it was like casting a PTN into grandma's gravy Davie. These are funny times we live in, in relation to the weather, but we've also noticed a lot of very healthy juvenile fish on our river this season so maybe it's working better for the fish than the angler which is a win win for the trout. Thanks for sharing your trip to the river just as it is when you fish without all the edited highlights. A real historical record of the days fishing :)

    Very enjoyable to share your day Davie, thanks. Some lovely bird song doon the Doon - a beautiful blackbird. I feel sorry for the poor nesting birds this odd weather.
    We've just had a very weird, sparse mayfly season on the River Kennet in Berks. Pollution doesnt help, but the water's been over the banks all year - not normal chalk stream conditions. Hey ho.

    Are these club waters you're fishing , or private Davy?

    • @DavieMcPhail
      @DavieMcPhail  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Hi James,
      It's a small syndicate water and I can fish it on a Friday and a Sunday so it's an in-between a club water and a private one..Most of the members only fish for salmon..
      All the very best Davie..

      @DavieMcPhail Thanks, Davie . I was just curious. Don't know what the Doon. Or any other of the Ayrshire rivers, are like now for migratory fish. They'll probably have declined. Like all the rivers , particularly up the west coast.Back in the late 40s 50s and 60s, when I fished them. Before moving to Argyllshire they were an angler's dream. I count myself very lucky to have experienced that era.
      I still fish , not as much as I used to. Mainly stillwater. While it's still great , it's not the same. I've always preferred rivers .
      Kind regards and thanks for the great vids
      Jim.

    Hey Davy what does Doon The River mean? We Americans have a hard time with some of your words😅😅😅

    • @SkroomJuice
      @SkroomJuice Před 2 měsíci +1

      He’s fishing the River Doon, “Doon the river” is just a play on words using the name of where he’s fishing!

    • @regquinn400
      @regquinn400 Před 2 měsíci +2

      Doon is a play on the Scots word for "down" and the river Doon in Ayrshire. I trust this helps.

    • @DavieMcPhail
      @DavieMcPhail  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Hi Toby,
      As mentioned in the comments, with a Scottish accent it would sound like we were saying doon rather than saying down, it just happens to be the same spelling of my local water the River Doon so I was playing with the title..So if you ever come to Scotland I would be very happy to take you doon the water for a days fishing..
      All the very best Davie
