That is a brilliant pattern. I tie many lazy guide flies where I just dress a hook with a dubbing blend (usually with some sparkle) and add some weight, and this is a much more elegant way to get the buggy fish-catching effect those lazy, ugly, styleless flies have. Beautiful tie, I’ll tie some of these with grouse.

Great pattern, Davie! Now I'm going to have to tie some. Like your idea about the muddler head. Thanks!

i like fly's like that. looks like it belongs in the trout water. most of my wet fly's are like that but not picture perfect to the eye but more appealing to the fish.

Davie, I like many many others love your tying videos, just wondering can you suggest a good emerger pattern that stays high and dry for dusk sea-trout. My CDC,s soon get waterlogged.

Hi Davie, Can I ask you for a recommendation for a Vise for a beginner please, I'm getting some cracking sea trout on Jc variants of teal blue, peter ross etc, but would love to start tying my own and making my own variants

      Hi @EasterlyWind,
One of the best beginner vises would be a side/spring leaver which you can buy from £30/40 up and it will hold a hook fine..Here is a link to one for you to see...
