- The RDX is the smallest SUV built by Acura. On the outside of the A-Spec you will be greeted by 20in wheels, special black accents and unique exhaust outlets. On the inside you will be greeted by a leather interior. Under the hood is a 2.0L turbocharged inline-4 that is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission and AWD is standard. Yes itâs better than the Nx. Despite its age this shows Acura knows how to execute very well
Yes, the Acura RDX A-Spec is larger and more comfortable than the Lexus NX 350 Sport which should actually be in the "subcompact" SUV category.
From this 2 I prefer the RDX but I would put some extra cash and go for the MDX.
Inknow people who bought the MDX then drove the RDX and liked it better
A friend of mine went from a 2020 Acura RDX A-Spec to a 2024 Acura MDX A-Spec and he told me he feels like the MDX is more luxurious but said he prefers the way the RDX drives. The RDX is quicker, sportier, lighter on it's feet. I've driven both and I'd say the same too. My friend regrets not going MDX Type S instead he said the A-Spec is kind of slow at times
I thought about the MDX but decided against it because I didnât need the extra seating. The RDX Advanced has so many features on it it was a better fit for me. Itâs only my husband, two VERY spoiled Chihuahuas and myself so it seemed foolish to get a bigger car. I looked at an MDX that had a red interior and black paintâŠI felt it was too dark for Texas and black paint really shows the dirt!
I bought a 23 MDX ASPEC with 6k for 47k in San Diego. I love it and the reason why it was cheap was because the dealer used it as a loaner đ still a steal
Hello Joe, I absolutely love the Acura RDX A-spec & I love the Performance Red color. I think this is a nice nice SUV.
From the Acuras, the RDX is one of my favorites, but I do prefer the previous version of the front end.
The shark joke got me fr.
Thanks Adrian for letting me share it all with you!
Joe and Lori and Steve keep up the good work real true and I love the video đ
The tail lights need to be face lifted
This RDX has been selling well for so many years & Iâve never heard a customer say this bc what? đ have you seen these chicane lights turned on?
I guess they're selling well because there's so many RDX on the road plus the Mdx starts 50,000 so maybe the RDX is a nice sweet spot for the customer.
I love my Aspec Advance same color it came fully loaded with the racks, I love it with the racks.
Amazing review Joe.
I can't do it without you!
I'd just like to point out the butterknife on the sides of the vehicle. LoL

Yes of course Joe & I'm definitely buying this.
The whole jaws-sharknado bit might be the best thing Joeâs ever said in a video! đ

I have a 22 model aspec adv. I still canât get why people are uptight about the touch pad. After a few days I didnât even think about . Knock on wood 24 k miles. Not one issue. Joe is right the staff at Maus Acura are easy to work with and very friendly.
This! And same! 23 Apex Blue w/ orchid interior
If you gave them the touch screen then you will hear about finger prints, I wonder how many times they touch the screen.
Its because the reviewers don't spend enough time to get used to it. Once you get used to it, I rather like it.
Disagree completely. I bought my '22 RDX A-Spec (no Advance) brand new in summer '22, so I'm as used to the infotainment system by now as I'll ever be. It's good enough (not great) in the native system when the TrueTouch feature works. But I spend most of my time interacting with Android Auto, which means I lose that TrueTouch feature. And it's a nightmare! Whenever apps such as Audible or Spotify update, they make changes with touchscreens in mind, so it can be awful for touchpad users. For instance, for about 6 months, the updates to those apps caused an "infinite scroll" glitch, which meant even a soft, slow swipe on the trackpad caused the screen to scroll all the way to the bottom or top of the menu. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.
Also, since in Android Auto there is no TrueTouch and the trackpad becomes essentially a laptop trackpad, you have to swipe from one icon to another. However, unlike a laptop monitor, which has a cursor, there is no cursor on the RDX infotainment screen. So you never know where the cursor is in the interstices between icons. And if you need to go diagonally from one icon to another, it often take several swipes to reach that next icon.
Even in the native Acura system, the trackpad makes it harder to input an address for the GPS. Yes, I usually input an address using the voice feature, but occasionally it's an obscure address or one with a hyphen, so I have to input it manually, in which case I have to stop the car so I don't have to use the unbelievably poor "handwriting" feature.
All in all, this current infotainment system is an accident waiting to happen.
Love your video
Love this car, it's beautiful. Will always appreciate seeing one on the road. What I don't love: 21-24 mpg. In California, that can really drain you :(
Love the fact you consider stuffing florida oranges into the tail pipe!! Good One Joe!
Heck yeah Sonal!
There should be a double like button for that Nintendo power reference
One of the most underrated Acuras, nobody talks about them and its awesome. Beside that weird touchpad and the not-so-good mpg number, everything just spot on for a compact luxury SUV.
Well , you give two reasons why.
@@Tbcycoji Lexus had one of the worst touchpad systems and lack of power for all their line up, it doesn't mean they're not making good cars. No car is perfect, but this RDX deserve more attention, because it is a great compact SUV overall.
Not worth 55k
â@tylervilla8616 what is, these days?
RDX is over rated I owned one it's a POS not like the Acura;'s of the 90's
2024 Acura RDX A-Spec SH-AWD Advance!
Nintendo Power mention got a đđœ from me
Joe talking about firing oranges out of the exhaust right into someone's groinđđđđđđ
Very nice. This one looks good in red. I prefer blue but red is certainly working for the RDX.
I have the red itâs gorgeous!
Hilarious that Joe hypothesized âmy daughter hit a palm tree and totaled my other carâ, because 3 Sundays ago my daughter hit a street light and totaled our Audi Q7. It was going to be given to her in a few months-we replaced it with a 2020 A5 Sportback. Hopefully she keeps it away from street lights (and palm trees).
I chose the Acura 2024 RDX Advanced instead of the Lexus. I wasnât impressed at all with the Lexus and hubby was shocked. He thought for sure Iâd go for one BUT it wasnât quiet enough on the highway for me. I saw the RDX after the Lexus and was DONE! I thought I was going to get a Volvo but the delayed acceleration was a dealbreaker. Iâve been looking for 5 years but didnât want to settle. I also loved Genesis cars BUT the service department in my area has gotten really bad reviews and even though they make gorgeous cars I wanted a dealership that could get repairs done quickly when needed. Hubby was thrilled with my choiceâŠI saved him a lot of moneyâŠand STILL think the Acura is the better choice!
Nice lookin' ride Joe. Hey whatever happened to lovely Laurie ? đź
She is still here,
They really need some update for RDX too
Hey raittis ride do u know something about a RDX type s that you not telling us we know u cool with Acura đ€
I wish it had at least some low profile roof rails. It just seems incomplete to me without them.
I love my roof rails they came with the car. It was a loner and it was fully loaded when I purchased I didnât have to purchase anything extra.
My thoughts from a real owner. Not just a 30 minute review.
I had a 1990 Legend. It was a great car. Perfect in every way. I purchased a 2019 Performance Red RDX A Spec CPO Loved it at first
The RDX turned into a POS. Display issues, Unable to change drive mode would pop up on the screen, NYC gas millage 8 to 12 driving like grandpa. On the highway the best I got was 28 to 30 MPG.
The touch pad, unlike you say, is a disaster. Swaps are backwards first of all. Second, a one to one touchpad in NYC traffic is a disaster. I have been doing IT for over 40 years so for me to hate it is junk.
To add my display had issues twice with unable to change drive mode ( all I did was just start up the RDX ) one on a long trip and I had to rely on my $400 phone screen not the 42 k car, to navigate. Then the dealer found no issue 2 months later a Bulletin came out and they fixed the MOSt buss connector.
The car sat in the garage for about 2 to 3 weeks then it came back after just starting the car.
Showed the dealer the Picture again they said pictures are not proof. I donât know about you but a picture speaks 1000 words. They are dumb idiots.
Screen was Fixed then two weeks later came back, Took to the dealer and they told me they had to ask Acura if they could fix it again. I almost dropped to the floor from that statement. I have never heard that in my life. Now Acura treated you like you purchased a Luxury car in the 90' now they treat you like you purchased a FORD from the corp down. Really sad.
What I like is the Torque vectoring of the RDX but unlike the commercial let's face reality who in the hell drives a RDX like a NSX. You have to be crazy to do so. All SUVs are too high off the ground to do that safely.
Also look at the fit and finish of the RDX. It's not good at all. Look under the headlights there is a big gap on both sides.
Anyway avoid Acura at all costs trust me. I got lucky when the pandemic hit. They wanted to buy my car back and I sold it for a good price. That you GOD for your assistance in this.
Anyway I now have a CPO 2022 RX 350 and I can tell you the Lexus RX 350 beats the RDX in every way. From the corp down to the dealership. Let's start with everything in the car just works,
Port and GDI injection a plus, NYC gas mileage 16 to 18, highway 33. Pad is way better than the RDX but when I get frustrated I can always hit the screen. Nice to have both on a Luxury car.
That is what you pay for.
So sorry Brad Lexus and Acura are not in the same league anymore. Lexus is leagues ahead in many ways.
Did you test drive an MDX at least? You can't compare a RX 350 to an RDX, two different vehicle segments, The 2022+ MDX is a league of its own and I bet you it's on the same level as the RX 350 or better.
@@NCblue95I can compare Lexus Corp to Honda corp.
Yes I did. I liked he MDX but with the engine recalls for the V6 is not good. Acura is not Acura anymore it's and over rated Honda.
They treat you like and idiot from the Corp down. Also the same stupid track pad and no touch screen come on. How much is a touch screen?
The MDX is not worth the price compared to the Lexus RX 350. Just the fact alone that the Rx 350 has both GDI and port fuel injection is more value to the car. The RX 350 and the MDX are not comparison Hands down the RX 350 takes it. Now please understand I loved my Acura 90 Legend and it was a great car and I wanted to love the RDX and Acura again, they did this to me not I to them.
I looked at the NX before I bought the RX but no spare tire and run flats was a downer. Yes I know the RDX ASpec has no spare tire but when I got mine I got the spare tire kit included that was a plus for Acura, Lexus new NX does not have it a kit or spare.
Now the MDX got better NYC city gas mileage than the RDX that how over rated the gas saving Turbo is just pure BS.
I am just so amazed at my city gas mileage with I have the RX 3350 premium trim also.
Also Lexus and Toyota resale value is way better than Acura or Honda. Now you can try and convince me other wise except I owned a 2019 RDX ASpec and my honest opinion and a person down the street that has the same issue with a 2022 one is not going to change my totally POS RDX.
Also when you call Lexus for support you are calling Lexus not Honda like with the Acura. Yes I had to call about finding out about the remote app subscription expiration. I have 2 years of free service and 2 years of all the apps included unlike 3 months with the RDX.
Thanks for your ownership input.

Hi Joe , when are you going on throttle with the 2024 Vinfast VF8 ?
I think it will be redesigned for 2025 which comes out late Fall. I have a 21 tech and it's a great SUV.
I think they keep the chrome badges in back (instead of black) to match the exhaust tips are
Styling wise it has aged very well. Interior wise itâs dated but a redesign will solve that. Maybe a type s trim will arrive for the next generation

Joe, another great thorough Review. Aside from subjective opinions on the looks, the only thing that i feel that Acura chinced on is the lack of including a power steering wheel adjustment ?? I've had that feature in the last 4 Infinitis and the last 2 Acura MDXs I've had (and have - a 22 MDX Advance). That feature is integral with the auto exit and Entry, working with the Seat position, mirror position, when exiting and entering the vehicle. Moreover, either I didn't catch or you didn't mention whether the RDX has Remote Start, which engages the heated steering wheel, heated rear defroster & heated mirrors, turns on the front defogger in cold weather. In Hot weather - it would engage the A/C at the preset Temp. Your comments about the TTIP system about getting used to it are fair (I have it in my 22 MDX, after 32 months, still not fond of it ), in that yiou can use the HUD & Steering wheel controls to use the InfoT. and a Shortcuts Icon on the Home screen of the pad to ease your pain. However, you failed to mention that the TTIP when engaged with AA or CP is downright Awful . It changes the quick resposniveness of the Touch Pad into a Very Slow acting Mouse pad! And when engaged with AA or CP, the Center Console USB port is the only one that can be used to Play Flash Drives, Disengages !! You can only play FD when out of AA or CP. The new 25 MDX - just announced and reviewed by you a week ago or so, has Introduced a New Touch Screen !! And that "stupid" AA / CP feature has been eliminated!! My lease comes up in August. I'm left with a few decisions : Buy my MDX with 21K miles for $38,500; Lease a new 25 MDX Advance (although I pine for a Type S - too much $$$$$ and poorer MPGs) ; or lease another vehicle altogether : a 24 RDX a Mazda CX-90 (or CX-70), or other.... I'd love to know if a new 25 RDX with the same changes made to the 25 MDX is on the horizon?
Acura chinced on is the lack of including a power steering wheel adjustment. It's more the quality is just not there.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this one.
Game Genie đ youâre the đ
Thanks brother!
Luxury goes fast these days. I would prefer a sport version, some tipe of manual and sportier
I think a Type S would work out perfect!
Triple zonk for the rear exposed wiper...
I like this, it's different in a good way. I'm thinking Lexus needs a refresh.
I have it fully loaded Aspec Advanced itâs gorgeous, I love it and the color.
I love my red fully loaded RDX Aspec Advance think Iâll go sit in it right now. I have the red itâs absolutely gorgeous!!
That is so fantastic to hear!
It's worth buying just for the shark gray.
I own and love a 2022 A-Spec Advanced in Apex Blue. The only improvements I can think of would be the swap out the Qi charging pad with Qi 2 for faster and more reliable charging with magnets. Also, stop fighting it and just put the MDX touch screen infotainment in there rather than the touchpad. Here is hoping for a Type S in the next gen with room for the Turbo 6, although the Turbo 4 from the Type R is plenty.
Sunny D to the face is crazy
@Raitirides any ideas about heat acura will do with the RDX? This is the Last year of its generation cycle. I think currently, the RDX is near perfect. Infotainment needs work, and a type Variant would make sense. Throw in a nice lease incentive package and you and they will continue to sell
We will have to wait and see.
RDX refresh this year?
Rdx is very good handling and stable suv in type of roads way better than the nx coz of the sh-awd .. expect for one thing they need to get ride of is that stupid track pad .. the jewel headlights are the best in the industry .. and they need to redesign and put that bang and olufsen sound system ..
I have the 2022 RDX Aspec SH-AWD. Feels like you're driving a sport+luxury car with all the bells and whistle added on it. The car feels spacious and the trunk space is pretty good with a additional underneath cargo space. The MPG sucks though. Even with comfort mode i only get 16-17mpg with sport mode its 16mpg.
Vehicle is great, but so dated. Needs a new generation and new modern interior.
Does the RDX use regular or super for gas
You can use regular but optimal performance 91 or 93 octane. I own this exact same vehicle but reverse colors, black with red leather interior. Just got it in march of this year
I love my red this exact one itâs gorgeous!
Finally... Been waiting for the review for months. I am thinking of trading my TLX for the RDX
I would like to see the next generation match the CRV on cargo space while maintaining its advantage in luxury features and offering a hybrid powertrain.
How do you zonk the lower honeycomb grill on the rear?! I think it's a nice contrast and looks good and as opposed to what?
Just body color.
No ambient lighting in this car? Interesting my TLX A Spec has it but other Acura models donât
Ambient light is standards on Aspec and above..
@@rlan23 thought so just didnât see the LED lights anywhere in the car

I wouldn't buy a vehicle that advertise a dealership. Unless i get paid.
So much $$$ for a 2.0L engine. Zonk!
What do you think the price should be Brent?
Beanie babies, Pickles-in-a-bag, orange exhaust shooters đđđ
Im waiting for the redesign. MPG needs some improvement as well as power upgrade
I had to add these myself to my 2021 RDX but I think the RDX ASpec should have 1. Running Board, 2. Gloss Black Roof Rail, 3. Elongated Gloss Red/Black Paddle Shifter, and 4. All season weather package (Instead of floor carpet), 5. Carbon Fiber/Gloss Black Rear Diffuser. In some cases the RDX has the popping moonroof sound when going over a curb, not sure if Acrua should do a national wide recall for that.
I'd like to see Acura make an SUV that's in between the RDX and the MDX to compete with the Lexus RX and BMW X5.
They have it already ZDX.
@@tonyrubirosa8102 You have a point, but I guess I hadnât considered the ZDX because Iâm not a fan of an all-electric vehicle. Good comment, though.
ADX is coming as well. Although ik most people arenât ready for EVs, Acura hasnât failed me yet. It takes about $14 to get a full range of ~300 miles while filling most gas tanks range from $60-80 on most SUVS so itâs something to think about.
Whatâs going on with Acura?! Hardly any production of tlx type S, no announcement about Rdx refresh, hearing that TLX could be on chopping block?! đ©
Things are going to get very interesting!
For those who are interested in this vehicle, a 2022 model can be purchased for about 39-40k with low miles. Why not save about 15k for the EXACT same car? đ°

Without a doubt. The Rdx is so much better than the Lexus Nx. The Nx is much smaller, especially in the front row. For me, the lack of a spare tire, run flats, and 8k more for the Nx with same options as my Acura Rdx Adavance made my decision easy. Plus the Rdx looks so much better.
Thanks for your insight and vote!
I really like the Acura RDX. However, I plan to wait until the 2025 version becomes available without the annoying trackpad.
That interior needed more than a touch screen
Did you see the title? This looks way more modern compared to the outdated Lexus interior everyone is tired of soo youâre wrong lol.
The issue about Acura in general is that there really isn't a big gap between these cars and their Honda's in terms of their interior/exterior. At times the Honda looks better than their Acura I really think this is where they need to work on ( I would rather just get a Honda) You can see stark differences between lexus and toyota for example.
That is so very true!
I wish they would redesign the center console. Not really an efficient use of space
They need to redesign the whole thing!
đ„
I agree it should have a Type-S version. I love the RDX but I'm seriously considering the MDX (even though I don't need the room) just because of the Type-S option. We'll see if I can hold out till 2025 (Come on Accord)
Tell me about it! Fingers crossed!
