I drove it often for years, and is is safe(unless there is a crash) and not scary, but it does get bumper to bumper with beach traffic. While stopped in traffic you feel the bridge sway.
its not bad, less than 4 miles long, not too high over the chesapeake, have never driven it during a bad storm! this is the way we get to OC md really quite a pretty sight from the top
Not a dangerous bridge, but scary driving over it. I can't imagine driving over this bridge on a windy and rainy day! What is your opinion?
Used to cross when there was only one bridge. Two way traffic at times were tense,

The bridge is actually 17 miles long
Living in MD I've driven over this bridge many times with my car and motorcycle. I don't get what is so Scary about it. Doing it on my bike is Best!

The original (eastbound) bridge cerainly is. Not so much the westbound. Of course, I stay in the center lane.
