Glad it’s working out on finding out info. I spent many days riding in that car. It was the maroon color back in 1986. Looking forward to seeing you all transform it etc.
Only because of you!❤❤❤
I definitely love this car..! She needs to be and deserve to be restored in original shape even in this red colour back...!! Thanks for another great video again ..!!
I’m with you, it’s been at least 40 years since that poor car has seen any real love!!
Another excellent job
I'm amazed at the headliner still being there lol
We were as well!
I am amazed there are so many cars that have a story to tell
So true Brian
Whole new meaning to junk in the trunk 😊
😅😅😅❤❤
I would guess you’re right 40 years Christina. And if you have any engine problems. You do have a spare in reserve. It was pretty nasty dirty. Never tell a guy it won’t work. That’s motivation. 😀 Thank you Richard and Christina . Great work!
💯👍👊
😂😂😂 so true! I can see things from my angle he/they can't. I could see the tires needed air or it was just never going to happen.
I imagine the maroon color on underside of trunk lid looked near-original and would have been beautiful on the exterior. Many hours of back-breaking labor - great job!
Love that paint also
It really looks a lot better
Love finding out the history of the car. It really adds to the concept of rescuing cars.
What a privilege seeing Kevin introducing himself to you guys. Kevin has a great channel. I love Kevin’s Harley content he’s a guru.
We are blessed to have such a wonderful neighbor ❤️ Appreciate you watching 🙏
Thank you bob. I appreciate the kind words sir. These two have some pretty cool stuff coming
This car is pretty neat!
A 4-door coupe, weren' they called Sedanette?
Guess, its fairly rare, i like it!
Not in too bad shape as well.
Some job cleaning up that car. As for words painted on the car, they are just words. I wouldn't worry about them. Can't wait to hear the car run.
For me, clean windows are a must! If they aren't clean, the car is dirty.
I agree and I'm so impressed that when they clean a car they really clean it. I'm the same way and most people would not take the extra time to clean up a vehicle. Richard and Christina are rocking their channel!
if the previous owner drove it in the 80s then 40+ years sounds good to me. Christina you rock!!!
You guys are amazing, you'll have that old tank running in no time! Call me crazy but I really, really like this car. That color is beautiful. I could see it fixed up a little, new rockers, floors fixed and interior in there. Throw on some whitewalls and she'd look fantastic.
Cool!!!! 👍👍
Hey Richard I like your hat.😊
Mr. B. Here ! 🍩🍩☕️👀😎👍. Morning guys ! Richard you need to see a MD. After clean up after going thru back seat to the truck ! Good luck guys !
What a awesome story, finding the owner!
You need a metal pole tow strap. Or a triple pulley hand winch..or electric winch on your post. Should have put some caps on it. Use one of those washing up brushes to clean your dash. Now what you going to do with it.. Good luck.
Looking forward to next week when you hopefully get it running together with the original owner. That will be special for sure..
WOW! Excellent Job Richard & Christina! What A Treasure To Get That Classic Automobile Running Again!!
I Love ❤️ You Guys!!🫡🤗
Thanks! This one is going to be super-challenging to get running, but I am hopeful.
Nice job cool car congratulations you show 👍👍👏👏👏👏❤
Not sure what was more exciting: finding the original dealership license plate frames or finding the possum bag o’bones. Being alone in the shop and working on an old vehicle makes you be in the moment. Same thing meditation does. That’s why it’s so relaxing. Great video! Looking forward to the next one. The Chevy looks so much better.
Right on Julie. Shop time is good time.
Some wall art for your new shop Richard!
Hi guys my name is David. A side from you two saving these beautiful cars, I absolutely love you guys you are amazing together keep up the fabulous work it's truly worth it. I feel a deep connection with you Richard as I watch you during your videos you remind me of my brother so very much we lost him about 3 years ago he was such an awesome guy. Stay well my friend my God bless you both.
Thank you so much, David. Having lost two brothers, I know what that is like. I am happy that these videos bring you some comfort in that. It is a pain that never goes away.
I love your channel and how you guys save vehicles if for nothing more than good parts and the way you tell the story behind the vehicles.
Thanks Brandon. The stories are always interesting, particularly this one, which we are still unraveling.
I never saw so much junk in one vehicle, but you guys really worked hard and cleaned it out! Good job!
Thanks Roy. It was fun finding things, but I could do without the animal skeleton!
You 2's sure get into some interesting things. I do look forward to seeing your videos 😅 thanks 🙏👍
A guy in my town drove a 49 Chevy two door fastback a few years ago it was green I haven’t seen it in a long time I love how it’s turning out getting cleaned up
Thanks Robert ❤we appreciate you watching 🙏
No wonder you're so excited together- you have a place to sort and leave out for coming back to later. 😊
You should try to match the original paint, repaint the car, and, paint the fenders either white or black. I think either color would look great!!
That is one lucky car to receive some love when 99% of other owners would have sent it straight to the crusher. If the car had a heart it would be racing with excitement. Good job guys. Looking forward to the next one.
Unbelievable I looked at that paint and thought, they are going to have to completely strip it but oh my goodness, what an amazing job you both did with sandpaper making the car look beautiful again
Thanks for sharing, yall stay safe and Louisiana sending prayers and positive energy to the both of yall! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👌🏻👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸✌🏻🙋🏼
I really like the original color. That body style in that color would have been just beautiful when new.
1949 the year my mom graduated high school.❤
I was born! 75 years have passed
The Chevy cleaned up good Christina you and Richard worked hard great video thanks for sharing
You both did great. That Car would have been a looker back in the day. I always look forward to watching your videos. Can't wait to see it run again and hear it's History. As always Liked and shared. All my very best.
Great video you two. I enjoyed being part of this project even if it was just to push the car around. LOL. I look forward to seeing you again soon.
Thanks!
Terry we appreciate your continued support. Thank you❤
I enjoy how you both love and work together on cars and trucks. And it's Great that you found the person who had the car when he was young. God Bless and have a great day
Yeah new video, cool to see after my work.
What a beautiful shop
I am sitting here watching and I can actually smell the dusty, musty old smell that you must be experiencing in there !
I love that body style. I thought the 49 my mom's last husband had was going to be my first car but after my grandpa and I replaced the clutch (the reason Paul gave it to grandpa) grandpa gave it to his brother in Mo. The real trip was I at 15 with no license drove it fron 55 miles south of Chicago to south central Mo. following grandpa in his 1954 Ford!
It looks good 👍
Great video guys I love those aluminum slots rims and that beautiful Ford truck
Great watching you guys cleaning up-amazing finds-
Richard and Christina I hope this car gets restored i have old cars hubcaps hanging on my bedroom wall in my collection love them
I love Richard’s Ford truck, nice 4 wheel drive! 👌🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Both of you did a great job of cleaning out the old '49 Chevy! Hope to see it running soon!! I remember that Cal- Custom gas pedal. I had one on my old car in the early seventies. They made other chrome items too.
Thanks Vincent. I remember Cal-Custom had a line of accessories available. The valve covers are highly sought after today.
Really enjoyed this one, can't wait for the next!
Thanks Shawn!
That would be a great hotrod!
As I watch you two I think that y’all are the kindest and most gracious folks I’ve seen in long time. Not do you love and respect each other but all who come into contact. It’s a light in dark world so many thanks!
Btw I think that this is my favorite model so far
A little walk through time there
The best step to motivate interest in a car build is cleaning it so you can see the potential hidden underneath the dirt and debris and the best tool for the job is pure elbow grease...and Christina ...enjoying time alone in the shop is normal for a cool car chick like you..just like your love of old junkyards....keep up the good work and maybe look into buying an old lawn tractor to use to move cars around ...a simple push bumper on it would keep Richard out of the hospital...I quit pushing cars by hand a long time ago...looking forward to the rest of this cars story ...Karl from eastern Canada
They had a small foot for the dimmer switch, had both on my 62 Chevy biscayne
Good job guys.
Amazing what a little bit of love and elbow grease can do.
Looks like an entirely different car.
Cool thanks for the video ❤LoveJim J&R mobile service and God Bless Y'all and your critters
looking Good For the next Stage Mates Well Done
I'm really liking these videos on the early Chevy videos.I think the 49 to 52's were great looking bodys. And the"Torpedo" back ends on those are my favorite.Keep up the great work on those.
Who would have thought that mess of an interior still has somethign useful buried in all the leaves... original documentation of any kind is invaluable. Years ago I bought an old Ford Consul from the deceased owner's nephew. cleaning up I found the owner's drivers license and the ID papers that go with the car. the license was from 1956, printed on fabric (which led to the german slang term for a drivers' license, "Lappen" (rag, or maybe hanky), since it looked like a cleaning rag). when I had to sell the car I made sure these items went with it.
it looks better and better. I'm looking forward to see what it will look like in the end. :)
Great video of you both cleaning up that nasty car, you both did a super job. Did I mention I had to go take two showers after watching the video? I felt so dirty!!!!! 😀
A fastback car, how wonderful and lucky too for both of you - look forward to following the progress and what you guys decide to do with her; and some truly fantastic detective work reaching out on social media... it makes a change to see something good come from social media instead jealousy and vile, abusive commentary - keep up the great work and videos
So true, Richard. Social media is an odd thing. There is lots bad about it, but to be able to connect with the previous owner of this car has been very cool. More to come!
Wow that’s cool find the original color or close, . Hope you get the engine to run.
The foot gas pedal is the one I am using on my 1981 F100. I have used this pedal on many of the cars I have owned. You should use it on one of your vehicles. They also had a matching one to turn on your headlight brights.
Right on! Maybe I'll put it back in this car.
Great find that car is the year I was born 1949
Looking forward to the "will it run"!
in the 50's I would visit my grandparents in Denver. My grandmother drove a 49 Chevy 2 door fleetline fastback. she paid $650 for it new. When she needed a newer car that had power steering the dealer gave her a really good deal on a 68 chevelle 2 dr. He graciously gave her $650 for her trade in. WOW was she ripped off. I was so angry but didn't know about it until she passed away in 1970. watching this video I can still smell the 'new' car smell of that 1949 Chevy.
I agree, I'd take the 49 over the 68 Chevelle.
Good video guys, lots of hard work was done there. I like your truck Richard, it's very cool. 😊
Thanks Andy. I like it too, but lately it has been quite problematic.
I had one of them foot gas pedals back in the 80's. It may still be around, who knows? That car appears to have been a CA car at one time. It has the 1940-1955 CA dealership frames from Tulare and a 1975 CA Highway Patrol sticker on the windshield.
See ya next week
Had a crappy day at work, got home and YES!! a new video! bit of excavation to say the least 😆awesome as always guys.
P.S. would love to see the Motogard clock on the shop wall,
Glad it brightened your day, Bruce. We will have the Motorcraft clock soon!
Christina, It's awesome that you're becoming an interior and patina specialist. Keep up the great revivals.
That would be cool! 👍🏻🙋🏼🙋🏼
Hi yall from west Alabama hugsss
❤❤❤
Nice work
nice man
It says something about my life that I can immediately recognize a possum skeleton. Not sure what it says, but I was entertained by your discovery.
Color is Oxford Maroon Iridescent , gorgeous color
car is looking good
oh hell you in it on this one lol godspeed bro
scoth brite would work wonders on that paint without scratching it up,Harbor Freight is pretty good
Awesome video as usual
That yellow bag thing goes on a “maid cart”. It’s used to hold cleaning supplies etc.. 😀
Good to know. Thank you!
The black and red is awesome different side and different look like putuna
Right! We don;y plan on changing the red/black mix. It looks real good.
Excellent video Christina :) , Richard :) , Neighbor Kevin :) also like clean up on car I say 38 years on wash and clean up too ! Also glad want clean up also graffiti took off both said I agree 👍 and red paint still has some shine to surprises me! Looking forward more videos too surprises me !
Thanks, Andrew. The red is a fantastic shade with metallic in it. I think I can get it looking even better.
@@whattherust agree 100% 👍 !
Hi. Richard. All that pushing is not go for the chest wall, [talking from experience]
That rim looks like it goes to a riding mower.
He could’ve put an old tire between the two and push it that way! I’ve seen guys drill holes in an old tire and put a couple hooks that way it hangs on the front bumper of his truck! Just an idea you guys! 👍🏻🙋🏼🙋🏼
Believe me, I am the last one to advocate for safety, my motto is always "safety last" LOL, but you guys should be careful with all the dust you are breathing in from inside those old cars, especially in enclosed areas without air movement. I would suggest wearing N95 masks and even some sort of protective overalls (like Tyvek suits) when you're working on these cool old rides, especially when you're clearing out the interiors. I rescued a 1961 Metropolitan recently after it had been sitting outside for 20 plus years. It was full of dust, dirt, mouse and rat poop, you name it! I ended up getting a nasty rash on my arms and legs, turned out to be "atopic dermatitis", which the docs said was most likely caused by the dust and dirt from that old car, especially from the mouse and rat droppings and nesting materials. Just a word of caution! Take care, guys! Loving what y'all are doing.
You are absolutely right. We usually have masks on, but with our recent move, things are not yet organized. Thank you for the reminder and the support of the channel. We really appreciate it.
I have a 78 Bronco that has been in the family for a long time we need worked on
I like those Broncos. Where is it located?
It in Arkansas Mississippi County
Hope you are feeling well
Last clean up 1987
Hi Richard & Christina, greetings from Scotland.
That was a dirty job . I guess it’s one of these jobs that needs to be done. It’s amazing the amount of garbage that you guys took out of the car.
It’s looks so much better with the graffiti removed, and washed ( inside and out ).
I’ll bet it’s so much more comfortable working in the new shop. It really looks good.
What are the long term plans for this one ?.
I’m looking forward to the ‘will it run’ next week.
All the best
John.
What a poor car and what 40 years has done to it I'm glad you guys came along and were able to save her looking forward to see what you can do and get down to this car. Harley-Davidson cigarettes turned into Maverick what I was reading on Google
👍🏼
