    Favourite line: "I can't teach you to love yourself "
    I hate that we live in a world that tears us down and we have to learn to build ourselves up as we continue to grow but maybe that's how it's meant to be

    How to love our Black self... read the bible, study ALL the Black people there and throughout our strong history. Look at our ancestors and what all they survived so that we can be. I'm fortunate to have come from and know my Grandparents. They along with my parents, Aunts, Uncles and community were/are my instructors and examples. Ooh and coming from a military family where we moved to Germany when I was 10 and the Germans thought that at midnight I was suppose to grow a tail like a monkey simply because I was Black and that's what they were told back during the war when Black soldiers had to help save them from Hilter... metal sharpens metal and therefore now I'm Black strong!!! ✊🏾⚔️💥

    Talented. Misguided but talented. Direct your gifts toward growth and unity not division. I find it interesting that you're already envisioning these harsh scenarios for your daughter. Almost like you feed off of the negativity. Wouldn't you instead want to envision (and work to create) positivity?

      Psycho Logical poems can be anything u feel u want to write, these r probably her own experiences

    • @psychological8730
      @psychological8730 Před 6 lety

      Ohemaah Boateng I get that and if she just vented about her experiences I wouldn't have anything to say but she goes further than that. Racism is racism. Villifying whites will not lead to harmony, it is not the answer. I don't know when the goal changed from equality to supremacy. It's a disturbing trend among millennials to perpetuate discrimination and exaggerate hardship.

    • @dennybick6011
      @dennybick6011 Před 6 lety +9

      Psycho Logical ...it's a poem. It's not just a woman wondering how she's gonna answer her future children's questions. It's a message; one that you didn't seem to get.

    • @psychological8730
      @psychological8730 Před 6 lety

      Denny Bick I KNOW it's a poem, I get that. I GET the message. Difference between us is I think the message is dangerous. Does she have the right to speak it? Of course. But I think her generation needs to start digging deeper for answers. Deeper than these superficial and easy slogans. Start to add thinking to their feeling.

  • @MG-je5xq

    Savage smile? Ha! Never heard that one before. She keeps calling her child... then says don't let them call you child. Meh, not a good poem in my opinion

    • @evaporatedmilk4175
      @evaporatedmilk4175 Před 6 lety +18

      M G When a parent calls you child YOU ARE their child, but other people including people your age and sometimes younger have no business calling you a child or "boy/girl" instead of "man/woman" but that's what black people deal with. Little black boys are called men when they're shot at and killed, but grown black men are called boys by people trying to demean them. That's what it means. If you're so hung up on that to not see the important and beautiful content in her poem maybe you're looking at the wrong videos.
