I have been diagnosed with diverticulitis. It flares up when I eat dairy products. I quit all dairy for six months. Also no alcohol. I lost weight and had no more abdominal pain on my left side.
She never mentioned a diet at all😡
I'm tired of people categorizing diverticulitis as people who live an unhealthy lifestyle and diet. I have been a pescatarian for years. I don't smoke don't drink and get frequent exercise. So stop!
Everyone I know except 1 who got it is overweight and eats garbage so there’s that.
But the point of diverticulitis is that you eat unhealthy. Thats how you got here. Its an unhealthy lifestyle. I love my red meat. But didnt eat enough veggies. Sucks to be me..eat elss red meat, eat more fish and greens. Got it. You feel attacked for no reason.
I eat nutritiously, dont smoke and limit alcohol to a small amount daily topped up with mineral water. I believe it’s often a matter of stress when I have a bout of Diverticulitis. I also have Rheumatoid Arthritis, an autoimmune disease which I believe has some bearing on the diverticulitis. What would I know, I’m not a doctor. I will try a liquid diet - soup? For a few days and see what happens.
I strongly believe it has alot to do with stress. But what i don't understand is if u find the time for Exercise & eat right with no smoking or drinking. Where would that stress come from ?
It’s called a common trend bro, if you have the it it’s more likely that that person eats like shit
When I was admitted to the hospital years ago with extreme case of diverticulitis I was given Pepto Bismol. That was it. Did the trick. So when I have pain in my left side or low across the front, I take the PM tablets, it helps me. What seems to set mine off is acid like fruits or vinegar dressing on my salads.
Depends if it’s acute diverticulitis. If you have a very acute form of diverticulitis you can get perforations in your bowels . This is what happened to me . Unfortunately pepto bysmal would have never worked for me
When my diverticulitis plays up I get bad knee pain and pain in my joints-- I have to rest for days and take pain meds
I weigh 105 pounds. I was eating a vegan diet and exercising every day and had an acute attack that sent me to the hospital. I was eating raw vegetables, broccoli, cauliflower, kale every day, no dairy or meat; so what happened to me? I don't smoke or drink alcohol. So it is not unhealthy diet. I read one person eats a steak and some fruit every day and he is better. I feel like none of this information is helpful. I am on mega antibiotics right now and I tried so hard to be healthy.
It might be the raw foods. Maybe try and steam the veg?
Literally just left my doctors he said limit high fibre foods including a lot of fruits and veg as some of these can trigger the inflammation. You sound like you live pretty clean I would research low fibre fruit and veg. I’m going for steak a salt and researching which fruit a veg are ok. Good luck it sucks hey
My family has been vegan for a couple of years now, we gave up red meat like 10 years ago, don’t drink soda, stay away from processed foods eat lots of veggies, and exercise and my mother got it. So I feel where you are coming from because that through me off too when she said unhealthy people get it, because that’s not our case!
@@ErinGrime seeds and grain can be the main offenders according to my doc so noones safe hahaha lucky for me mine was a one off occurance and has come good but i find probiotics and no eating after 7 which was reccomended to me fixed it with no meds
@@Jameswoodgo Yes that’s what we were told, hopefully we can fix it, thank you for the tips ✊🏾.
My mother suffers with this and it’s getting to where she gets flare ups often no matter what she eats.
Me too
She may need surgery to remove that part of the colon
Same here and I'm about to turn 60. It is some of the worst pain I have ever experienced in my life.
So do i
My BMI is ok, I am vegetarian, eat my 5 a day and fibre, drink lots of water. Still ended up in hosp with this!
Get well soon, Ann.
The Top Doctors Team
Mee too
so that puts paid to the bad diet/ overweight theory.
sorry to hear you landed in hospital with this. wishing you a swift recovery.
Do not smoke or drink alcohol as this can contribute as well to flare-ups. Also, try going on Keto and intermittent fasting, I did so and really helped!
It’s normally lifestyle and diet. I’m vegan, very healthy, exercise etc but I get flare ups when I’m on holiday and having alcohol and fatty foods like chips or crisps. Also constipation can cause it so if you’ve had issues in this area before it could have caused the pockets
Anyone have a lot of stomach noises with their diverticulitis? My stomach sounds crazy rn and rumbles. But not much pain.
Yes, a lot of noise sometimes. Mine is also painful though. Dang.
Yes I have
Mine too at all times but its painful like cramping too.
Yes a lot
Lots of noise for me to im only 26 and have it!
Just shows she doesn't know shit about diverticulitis. Eating too much salad flairs mine. Like most topics, these "experts" just have opinions on the matter...mostly based on old wives tales taught to them by old school professors. Isn't it about time someone applies some modern research? Tired of all the same old conflicting opinions that have no actual research behind them. My doctors can't even connect the dots between my diverticulitis and my autoimune issues. Seems obvious to me that diverticulitis and intestinal permiability go hand in hand.
I have found that different people can try different diets for diverticulitis not one fits all. I’ll eat meat and fresh fruit stay away from processed foods and too much caffeine and have gotten much better
I'm glad you said it. x
exactly
Am just now in hospital having been diagnosed with diverticulitis for the first time
Thank you for not telling us anything.
I was diagnosed just recently with uncomplicated diverticulitis 47years old Asian... After series of test like colonoscopy and CT scan Abdomen with contrast... Blood test and stool..
I have it too and get regular flare ups a lot of fibre and vegetables makes it worse
Every one on CZcams talk about it.but do not give any information about how to fix the problem
Agree and I believe is the CZcams police because you 15 titles 40 yr university degree be a flaming liberal to dispense any advice, gone are good old home remedies and testimony of what work for who .... these are the times
The solution to drs is for the patient to have surgery which it sucks.
Once you have it you are more likely to have it again in the future, but u can prevent it by just eating very healthy even though they say you can eat normal..
What does this have to do with the title if this video?
OMG! I know that chronic discomfort is part of diverticulitis, but I never had it so bad to be admitted to the ER. Usually my left side feels tender and when it increases to discomfort, I drink more liquids and decrease solid food intake. Is that right?
Be tougher
I have always had a tender spot on my left side. It is very uncomfortable. No doctor had ever addressed it properly.
I just was hospitalized for 4 day from a flare up
@@wethenorth6437 I never even knew about this until I spent 10 days in a hospital. Im now at home with a big that hooked into my stomach draining out fluid. I also have an IV.
I grew up with the food pyramid, which recommended grains (wheat, rice, oats, etc). Now it’s completely reversed. The diet I grew up with is what is causing type 2 Diabetes in my generation. And it also causes diverticulitis because those grains have been refined.
Thank you.
Just burn told. I have this
Only knew i had this from alot of blood in stool im on 36....but shes right my diet is horrific and i drink alcohol too much
I have ibs and diverticulitis flare up been advice sugar free high fibre gulutten free diet when i get flare up i have a liquid diet 2 weeks at a time any advice is welcome .
I met people who had Key hole surgery and they said it was the best thing they’d done!
What is that?
What is key surgery.
Thanks.
Healthy keto / low carb diet
That didn't tell me jack, "more vegetables"
Go carnivore bro.
DURING an attack, drink clear liquids, take ibuprofen and slippery elm capsules. I recommend homemade bone broth because it has substance. When it’s refrigerated, it becomes a gel. My recipe includes bones (I use Costco’s rotisserie chicken, which is delicious and cheaper than the raw chicken they sell), onions, garlic any other flavor you care to add. There is a good video on ‘Mary’s Nest’ and ‘The Providential Prepper’. Mary spends time on teaching, so her videos will be longer than ‘The Providential Prepper, but the outcome will be the same.
Everything but the ibuprofen as it aggravates the gut. Stick with Tylenol 😊
Please remake this so informative clip for idiots as well, tell them about vegetables, perhaps show some photos, what they look like, how to cook them, how to eat them,
My doc just told me high fibre fruits and veg can be major contributors but lower fibre options are the way to go
I got this from childhood. How came ??
I am now thinking about eating some grass fed beef. I am afraid to eat dirt.
I don’t understand this. I was hospitalized due to having my first attack nearly 25 years ago. When my doctor walked in she screamed and picked up my food tray and asked what are they feeding you. The plate was loaded with veggies. She hurriedly ran out and yelled at the staff. I do jot eat veggies, I do a shake.
Well, in my opinion you can overdo the fiber. I just eat some everyday but don't just eat them only. Been working for me, no more er trips.
Ya i can eat like this and still have issues. I would prefer not using antibiotics.
No audio?
Informative, but music is annoying!
I rarely eat red meat. I can't exercise due to spinal arthritis. any suggestions?
Eat red meat, animal fat, drop the veggies, grains, soy, nightshades etc. Did wonders for me. Just a suggestion.
@@mariatereziagallo5302 WRONG! You need to read more. You are lost in information
Yeah thanks for nothing. Thought you would’ve actually gone over some foods that are safe to eat if you have diverticulitis.
Exactly..
You know I'm not trying to sound unappreciative
,but I feel the same way.i followed this from another post, in regard to personally dealing with his & to get his vague advise about putting this in someone else's hands.
That's what I was hoping for. I have it and do just what she said. Still get it. Love 3 or 4 days of work a month.
It's free information on the internet... just appreciate what people put out
...just saying
Read the other comments. People are finding this while searching for information about this particular topic because they are probably dealing with this issue. It’s kinda pointless and a waste of peoples time to label a video one thing but never actually talk about what the name of the video would imply it’s about. Maybe your time isn’t as valuable to you as others time is to them. Just saying…
I just found out i have it. Im soooo uncomfortable
How long did it take to go away
Just want to know what is safe to eat omw how vague is she
It didn't say a thing about the best diet!
Apple cider vinegar....
This is not a diverticulitis diet.
That unfortunately was not helpful… 😕
But what do i eat?!!! lol
Ummmm so what I got out of this was..... NOTHING!
BS!!!! I’m an athlete and have diverticulitis. I think this woman needs to listen to her own advice and lose 50 pounds!
Say what? This didn't help at all.
she isnt following her iwn diet recommendations...she needs to go on a keto diet.
This person has no idea what she is talking about. My aunt has not weighed more than 115lbs in her entire life and eats mainly fruits and vegetables and only non shell fish… and she has had diverticulosis with occasional flare ups. My brother who eats organically grown foods and tofu has diverticulosis with occasional flare ups. My cousin and I who are carnivores have diverticulosis with occasional flare ups. Finding out now that many of my family members have diverticulosis. Doctor says it may be genetic. I have not eaten any nuts, corn, rice, nothing that could possibly get lodged in diverticular pockets and I still had a flare up a few days ago. The “experts” have absolutely no idea what causes diverticulosis and they keep changing with the wind. I wish they would just say they don’t know instead of giving us wrong information. They don’t know what causes diverticulosis and they don’t know what causes the flare ups. Period.
That sucked. You didn’t tell us nothing really
Totally pointless video.
Paracetamol.. lmfao
What is wrong with your eyes
Grass fed meat can fix diverticulitis
A friend told me he cured himself of diverticulitis by drinking food grade diatomaceous earth.
I was just diagnosed with diverticulitis yesterday after torturing myself for two days (thinking it was gas). D.E. is a great supplement I use it to treat my sheep and chicken. Your friend might be right Fermin. D.E.kills bacteria and viruses.
Always use food grade only
What is that?
Can someone please tell this Lady its the same thing all the time it's always put down to 3 things and the reason is they know damn all the 3 things that get the blame are Diet ,Smoking ,and Drink and when the 3 of these done right they are beat
