      In low resolution it kind of looks like the physics model is "wrong" even though it's real life footage. Take the same car and remove the downforce and they would either fly off the track into "death or serious bodily harm" territory or else they'd corner at much slower speeds.

    What a f ing awesome old circuit. I would love to see it back again. F1 racing the whole nurburgring, again would be SO cool although it would never happen. I would love to see a F1 car beat the Porsche 919 hybrid tribute Nurburgring lap time.....if it even could. If you haven't watched it, it's worth a watch!

    • @Xoron
      @Xoron Před 3 lety +38

      Quali was another format back then. In 2001 it was a 1 hour session where every driver had 12 laps available to set a time. It was actaully boring for the first 40 minutes as everyone was waiting for others to put down rubber.

      Qualy at Hockheimheim wasn't dull at all. Many special laps were driven in those qualies, Villeneuve like a maniac in 1998 and Fisichella the year before for example. It was all about trimming the car to the lowest possible downforce settings while still being able to make it through the Motodrom section. Also the cooling was tuned to the absolute necessary minimum and the engines brought to the absolute maximum the couldy endure for the few laps they'd do (even less laps from 1993 onwards, when a 12-lap limit was introduced).

      Back in the day track limits were not enforced as harshly as today and the racing was overall better, battles were permitted, drivers could do more for the show, nowadays everything is ultra safe, ultra boring. I blame Hamilton for the change because of his constant crying and whining. Now every other driver and team in the paddock started to behave the same and that as well transformed FIA into an overzealous entity in how they enforce the rules.
