"What is This Hippo Carriage?"
The most dangerous vehicle mankind has ever made.
No my good friend, that would be a baboon carriage.
@@Bagginsess No no, my friend, that would be a honey badger carriage... 🧐
@@Robert_McGarry_Poems no, no, no my friend, that would be the Ford Pinto
Prototheria is correct. Search for hippos defecating on CZcams. They must have not fed her until after shows.
Wow! ... and I would have guessed it's a hippo cab, for touring the, um ... hippocampus.
This video feels like it started as a community tab shitpost but then you were like “no wait there’s enough here to be serious for a sec” and then actually did it for realsies

"To participate in the nitrogen cycle" What an elegant expression. I must use that sometime.
Can't claim it as my own, a friend of mine used it
Today I learned that hippos sweat "blood." I had never heard of or seen this before, I assumed when you brought it up that people in the olden days just made it up to make the animal sound more exotic and otherworldly. That's amazing that they do actually coat themselves in a red liquid that resembles blood.
Poor little chunky girl 🥺
@@jhonayo4887 😭 Dangerous too...
Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't want to get in front of that thing, but I sure wouldn't be sitting behind it like that, either. The range of a hippo's sphincter is equivalent to field artillery.
>not having a shit shield
ok pleb
That's roughly what I thought as soon as I saw the thumbnail. I've seen one of those things go off. Wouldn't even pose in a photo with one unless I had my shit shield with me.
And suddenly I am well informed about this subject. Thank you.
Hippo lore video finally
That's the Whippopotamus
I love how hippos are portrayed as kind fun gentle but in reality they are 1 ton testosterone filled behemoths
pull up in the whippopotomous
I consider what I knew aboot hippo carriages obsolete. Thanks!
Interesting ! 😯
I’ve been watching CZcams videos on a Sunday afternoon (right now) to improve my English listening skills and I’ve just come across this video. I didn’t expect that I could learn something about hippos today. And I learned another English word (“perspiration”) from this video.Thank you so much, from Japan. 😊
Doitashimashite. Can i ask you a question? What is the guy saying exactly when he's feeding the hippo?
Hai Agemasu? I tried searching the word, but couldn't find it! Thank you.
czcams.com/video/9wyhhxOZazI/video.html
@@alakhazom Yes. “Hai, Agemasu (はい、あげます。) “ is exactly what he said, which means “Here you are / I’ll give this to you”
(The name of the zoo in your video is “Nagasaki Bio Park”, I guess (probably). I have never been to Nagasaki, though.)
@@rukathehamsteratwork8896 Arigato goziemashita. I can't believe i nailed the romanization of agemasu!
Probably i've seen too many japanese movies...though i've seen many Hk,Chinese(taiwanese also) and Korean-japanese language, phonetically seems like the most easy to comprehend, for an european. The words,if you pay attention, reveal themselves. I've heard the grammar is the most difficult out of the 3,although i'm not sure.
That phrase,Hai Agemasu, just sounded cool, and catchy for my foreign ears.
P.s:On a funny note, i haven't been to Nagasaki also, although i've been to Tokio. Nice city, and interesting culture! It surprised me pleasantly, after reading about it and Japan for years.
Thank you again, and have a good night(it should be night there)!

Your videos are fantastic and informative, punctuated by your unique and surprisingly calming voice.
Thank you for the hours of enjoyment 👍
If you bred gentle hippos over many generations you could breed hippos safe enough to keep as pets. Then its just a matter of house training them.
So happy you're back
poor hippo shouldn't be forced to do that
You should make more of these videos it’s nice to see you make less serious video and see your Sense of humor
on the topic of hippos did you know that in the early years of the 20th century America was undergoing a meat crisis when it came to farming lifestock so the US Congress thought the unthinkable they considered a bold and ingenious plan that would simultaneously solve two pressing problems -- a national meat shortage and a growing ecological crisis. The plan was this: hippopotamus ranching.
Hippos imported from Africa and raised in the bayous of Louisiana, proponents argued, would provide a delicious new source of protein for a meat-hungry nation. In the process, the animals would gobble up the invasive water hyacinth that was killing fish and choking off waterways. It would be an epic win-win. A bill was introduced in Congress, and newspaper editorials extolled the culinary virtues of "lake cow bacon."
Dear god, I can’t even imagine the fatality rate of an early 20th century hippo rancher
"while the hippopotamus may seem like a gentle giant"
how to die 101
At least the beasts got to stretch their legs
We're all Hippos rollin' down the river
Sometimes we can't touch the ground
Like Hippos slidin' in the water
Somehow we're stompin' around - Steppenwolf 1970
Imagine if the Hippo had some Jordans on!!!! Gotta look good when pretending to be a Bus!
Bruh we gotta bring back the Whippopotamus
I wait for the day when future historians analyse our memes with the same level of commentary, professional research, and high quality as this.
I wonder if he will ever finish that “history of 20 countries” or whatever it was before where he did England, France, and Spain amongst others. That’s what I subscribed for and while this stuff is fine and interesting I’d still like to see that series finished
Yes, Spain part 3 is a top priority. It's just it's been shifted around for a few reasons though. I will likely have it up this winter. Recent news may cause me to get it up even earlier than I planned.
Could be worse. Flash Point History is still doing a series on reconquista but he has spent about a year now on a side trip to the crusades itself a side trip to the fall of constantinople. And it is glorious

I'll be honest, i expected this photo to have been taken in Florida.
Someone send this to Casual Geographic. He will no doubt have words for anyone interfacing with a murder water horse.

There needs to be a hippo cart in the next Twisted Metal game. The thing is already dangerous and over-the-top, just slap some machine guns and missile launchers on it and it's good to go.
It's the newest Twisted Metal character!
Interesting, ... I never knew that hippopotamus' had been or could be domesticated. Thanks for the insight!
As I understand it, if you raise any animal from birth around outside of the wild and around humans, they're 'tame', though can still be unpredictable and dangerous. Domestication is where humans have been breeding them for so long they're basically they're own species now. I'd never get close to a 'tame' hippo hahaha
I saw a thumbnail of a man riding a hippo chariot and clicked before I even saw it was in my sub feed.
My mom's best friend from highschool was a lion tamer who became moderately famous in Japan in the 80s
I want one
How did I not know about this, I made a whole video about animals people used or attempted to use as transport? Out of all the crazy animals including lions and tigers, I found hippos the worst due to a combination of their preferred environment and terrible tempers. I didn't find a single account of anyone using a hippo for transport without eventually dying by it. But here is the exception, one can use a hippo to pull a chart safely. Still I would advise avoiding it.
