  • This car should be called "Project: Loud n' Sticky". Wow. It's a fully built Honda S2000 (AP1) with all the mods, all the grip, and a dash of aero. Driving cars like this is a special day indeed. (Goodbye headphones.) Mods and all that in the video!

      I like it too. Jason Fenske from Engineering Explained makes a video about all the good stuff in it that made him buy one but for some reason people seem to almost get disappointed whether because of the power or tuning capabilities... The setup on this video looks perfect for it, the best so far. Instead of focusing on the power, they focus on the grip, power/weigh and balance. I think it's one of these cars where adding a big turbo is not the answer but instead, doing exactly that, transforming it into a race car. Lightweight, naturally aspirated.... I would change the exhaust for the road or add some kind of valve system (it's a race car I know)

      Jeremy Lopes I beg to differ. As the owner of a 700hp turbo ap1, the best of both worlds is having the grip along with having the power. It’s a marvelous car!

    I won't forget working at a Honda delear when these things first came out and i said a 4cyl? Pssshhh. Then I drove it. The smiles per gallon, the sound of that motor revving up to 9k, the fun going around corners and letting it slide out while being predictable is the reason this car has always been on top of my list. This might sound like too much of a request. I love tunnel pulls. I remember when i was young and had a gsxr 750 and my friend had an r6 and we would run back and forth through freeway tunnels doing 2nd gear pulls listening to them scream. You guys do a handful of flyby shots, could you do external tunnel audio? You don't even have to record the video, you could patch the external tunnel audio over the in car view. And then, cause I know people will love this, you guys could keep a running list of "best tunnel pull sound" and make it a playlist of course.

      That's a really good call, but you're still suggesting replacing one of the greatest engines ever made.

    • @apodski
      @apodski Před 4 lety

      I would argue the s54 is the best engine ever made with the factory itb's and a carbon airbox. However, it doesn't have vtec or an aluminum block, which are drawbacks. There sadly will never be a holy grail l6 with itb's, aluminum block, and vtec/valvetronic. Unless, somebody wants to modify the crap out of a new bmw engine and make it n/a.

    • @apodski
      @apodski Před 4 lety

      Double vanos allows for a car to almost have a full on race cam, vtec allows for a full on race cam, but only when it kicks in, doe. However, the vtec doesn't give you the perfectly smooth transition between tractor cam and almost race cam like vanos. Vanos + valvetronic is almost perfection in valve operation.

    • @apodski
      @apodski Před 4 lety

      All these engines are kind of a mute point though, because bmw really thoroughly dropped making drivers cars during and after the e90. It's a sad state of affairs. So z4m coupe is one of the all time greatest, unless you really want to dish out for cayman. Can't have a v6 elise in the US.
