  • "Viva La Vida" by Coldplay from their 2008 album "Viva La Vida or Death And All His Friends" guitar cover by Wood and Oil.
This is version 1 which is just strumming the appropriate chords for the entire song.
Words and music by Guy Berryman, Jonney Buckland, Will Champion, and Chris Martin. Published by Parlophone and Capital records.
This was performed on a hollow-body electric Ibanez guitar in standard tuning with a capo on the first fret. Performed by Jude.
    Lyrics:
    Verse 1:
I used to rule, the world.
Seas would rise when I gave the word.
Now in the morning I sleep alone.
Sweep the streets I used to roam.
    Bridge 1:
    Verse 2:
I used to roll the dice.
Feel the fear in my enemy's eyes.
Listen as the crowd would sing.
"Now the old king is dead, long live the king"
The minute I held the king, next the walls closed on me.
I discovered that my castle stand upon pillars of salt and pillars of sand.
    Chorus 1:
    I hear Jerusalem bells ringing.
    Roman calvary choirs are singing.
Be my mirror, my sword and shield.
My missionaries in a foreign field.
For some reason I can't explain
once you're gone, it was never, never an honest word.
That was when I ruled the world.
    Verse 2:
It was the wicked, and wild wind,
blew down the doors to let me in.
Shattered windows and the sound of drums.
People couldn't believe what I've become.
Revolutionaries wait for my head on a silver plate.
Just a puppet on a lonely string.
Aw, who would ever want to be king?
    Chorus 2:
    I hear Jerusalem bells ringing.
    Roman calvary choirs are singing.
Be my mirror, my sword and shield.
My missionaries on a foreign field.
For some reason I can't explain,
I know Saint Peter won't call my name.
    Never an honest word,
that was when I ruled the world.
    Bridge 2:
    Oh,
    Oh,
    Oh,
    Oh,
    Chorus 3:
    I hear Jerusalem bells ringing.
    Roman calvary choirs are singing.
Be my mirror, my sword and shield.
My missionaries on a foreign field.
For some reason I can't explain,
I know Saint Peter won't call my name.
    Never an honest word,
that was when I ruled the world.

The sound is a lot better on an amplifier, but the input jack broke. One day the Oscar Schmit acoustic guitar will make an epic return once its strings are changed. Thank you for checking out the video.
