COMPLETELY agree with everything you said, Jeff. I would only add that brown has depth and character, can have burnishing, and develops patina over time (which I think are some of the reasons why you would agree it is more interesting.) And black is always... just plain black. Either way, your advice is ALWAYS reliable! And appreciated... and enjoyed.

I am still trying to find that perfect pair of oxblood shoes it's the only color that I don't have I am not sure which style to get them in .

Thanks Jeff. I was wondering exactly how much of an issue is skin or complexion undertone? I've seen that there's a whole new topic to consider when buying clothes. Can you cover this to give some help? I bought and wore a camel polo/turtle neck and it looked like I had 3-4 chins haha. I ended up taking it off... should always try items before buying and not take what looks good on someone else as being the choice! Lol... Yes your looking very smart!

I think the sole matters a lot too. Black soles are more formal while brown soles feel more casual. Not sure if I’m right or wrong but I think it’s more fitting to wear black soles regardless of the color of the leather usually

I got a 6 year old pair of black dress shoes that look brand new because they get no play. But my browns and oxblood are in regular rotation. Always get compliments on both.

Well I own a black dress shoes... But I want to let everyone who does not have a black dress shoes know that even if u don't have one it's perfectly fine coz a brown dress shoes will be a better option n brown is way more versatile in every aspect. So don't worry abt buying a black one if u r on a budget, for others who want to build their collection I'd say go ahead.

Recently got me a pair of brown Clarks dress shoe was thinkin to wearing it with my black suit but I know better now
I do think brown dress shoes, especially lighter shades of brown, can look a little more 'handsome' than just a pure black dress shoe. Of course, like he says in the video, black is more serious so sometimes you simply need to wear black dress shoes. I own both but I do think some leather double monk strap shoes with no show socks and some chino pants in a brown, khaki, or similar color rolled up one or two cuffs with a polo shirt can be a GREAT summer time look....but again, it would look more casual and it wouldn't look right with black double monk strap shoes since it's so casual, it really would need brown double monks.
I've always liked double monkstraps is there many ways to dress oxblood double monkstraps or is that not a good idea?

A black pair was for those days a gentleman found himself in the city dealing with his broker, followed by a quiet afternoon at his Club - the brown pair was worn in the country, on his estate, out shooting with a pair of Holland & Holland guns...
I was a black shoe guy.
Now I am a brown guy.
But bought a black pair of chukka boats, very nice tick lether and I polished them and they are realy nice in daylight.
Black or brown is a hard question.
Maybe you should do 4 different shades of brown. Or black or dark brown.
