Yeah, it felt rather cheap. "I have a deck of 52 queen-of-club cards here, choose any one you like" is pretty much the easiest force in the world... With Penn&Teller, they could at least have done a classic "check that all cards are different"... before doing a deck switch, but they didn't even bother with that.
Very clever there with the cuts. I used to play with some tangrams as a kid and that sort of thing always amazed me. You turn one shape face-down and _blam_, everything is wrong and nothing fits.
After watching so many card tricks I know that not showing all the cards are different is fishy, and it amazes me that Penn and Teller did something like that, they must know this trick will not fool everyone.
I think that's the beauty of it. They have a show where different magicians from around the world show their best tricks and techniques, and they use one of the simplest tricks ever in a way that is still a very impressive effect (if you don't know how simple it is) :D
The Queen of Clubs isn't the main part of the trick, it's the other part of it where they turn over the shapes and there's the card-shaped gap that wasn't there at first.
@@1GrilledFoot, yes, but that part was not really surprising either when noticing the perfect slices in the paper, it was immediately obvious what would happen next: an optical illusion no magician would ever fool them with. In comparison with other tricks they did at the end of every episode, this one was just lacking a big wow-factor, but they did present it as a bar-bet.
The second part of the trick is more interesting. They clearly change up the axis of symmetry upon flipping the pieces (not placing them were they should be). What I don't get is how the total area of the pieces is changed from 56 cards to 55.
The pattern they were cut in allows it too look like all the pieces fit together, but when moved around (and flipped over), an empty space appears. In actuality, the pieces didn't fit well together until they were moved.
@@jamesreed5678 "the pieces didn't fit well together until they were moved." actually the pieces don't fit together ever, either before or after. Look up "missing square puzzle" on wikipedia for the explanation
I feel werid saying this but I usually only watch Penn & Teller on CZcams and either I'm watching clips from the same espiode or is Brooke wearing the same things every show
It's common in TV shows like this for the judges to wear the same clothes for an entire season. It allows the editors more freedom to cut in different bits if they need too. They can cut Brooke saying something from a completely different act, but make it look natural. Penn & Teller also are wearing the same suit and tie the whole time. Likewise if you watch Battlebots, all the judges, hosts, and Faruq wear the same outfits for the entire filming season.
Unlike the previous two hosts, she also speaking in between Penn and the participants, right when Penn us addressing the participant. She thinks ir is adding humour, but to me it seems irritating to cut off the judge,'s messages, feedback.

The force is strong with Teller 😊😊😊😊
😁
I’m surprised, usually they force the 3 of clubs
Um...Brooke won the bet and didn't even know it. Her card was not on the big card under the silk. Fool-ish.
I knew exactly what was going on once I saw the sheet cut in that way
I knew of that shape but I didn't know it could be flipped over in such a clean way to get the effect. Pretty neat!
@@4saken404the top section was flipped differently than the other pieces
Teller was very quick to put the deck away... the deck that was presented face down. Hmmmmm.
May be all cards in the deck were the queens of club
They didn't show them, so most likely. Haha
You mean "maybe"?
exactly what i thought.
@@asechka He means "certainly".

Deck of Queens 😂😂😂

It's true but did not fool me cause I knew it was a sheet involved and 1 real card and he said 56 cards when it's 54 with joker's LOL 😂
@@anttperez6773 Most decks of cards come with 56 cards as Penn explained it. Many brands also include 2 Advertising cards in a new deck.
00:28 the deck of cards not shown and forced to hide anyone seen before... Not forced to select one but blinds with ease... Anyway nice one!
May the FORCE be with you....
It's a rare day when even I know how P&T did a trick. Fun effect tho!
Rarely is a trick by P&T so obvious...but that one was SO OBVIOUS

yeah, I think the host wears the same thing for the entire season. I'm assuming for editing purposes to give them flexibility
@@CalvinEastwood Pretty much, yeah. This way they don't have to put the performers in the same order on the show they performed during filming.

That deck had less variety than Brooke's wardrobe.
