- It’s that terrifying moment when a hoverboard catches on fire inside a house. As the children run for their lives, the hoverboard explodes into flames. Batteries fly in all directions, but quick-thinking mom grabs oven mitts to put out the flames. Her husband was upstairs sleeping when the fire broke out, but came down in time to get the fire extinguisher and put it out. The family says they could have easily lost their home if they hadn’t had a fire extinguisher. #InsideEdition

It’s ok to charge the expensive hover boards over night. They have sensors to prevent over charging. The cheap 60 - 100 dollar hover boards do not.

Frost Bite depends on the country you live in, I had travelled in many different countries and for some countries IF YOU DO HAVE A FIRE Extinguisher YOU WOULD BE one of the *RARE ONES* or possibly THE 1st one to have it then your neighbors would just follow. While for some counties IT IS COMMON AND A NORM ALREADY WHERE YOU WOULD SAY "duh"

This is why I do not leave things charging unattended, including smartphones and laptop computers.

She didn't say she didn't know, but she was the one who was at the scene from the very beginning seeing the situation spinning out of control and dealing with the chaos of the kids screaming and running around her and near the fire. She saw her son nearly become engulfed in flames/possibly injured. She saw a lot happening all at once. She was no doubt caught off guard and had conflicting instincts. The father saw/dealt with none of that. Sometimes in those initial moments of a traumatic situation, we don't react how we think/hope we would; we sometimes do none of the things we teach ourselves to do. The father had more time to react, as he already knew from hearing the screams that he should expect to see something he would need to react to, which better prepared him to react rationally.

My husband went through a house fire as a kid (everyone got out but the house was a total loss) so we have always had fire extinguishers, smoke alarms and escape ladders. We talk to our kids every couple months about what they need to do and where our meeting spot is.

Yeah, you can get escape ladders that hook over the window sill, they fold up nicely under the bed. I do suggest that you deploy them at least once for practice. You don’t have to climb down as it could damage your siding and they’re very simple but I would hate to get it out for the first time in an emergency.
