LOL. We moved into the Woods at Northcliff in 2001, when we bought a spec home from Torrey Homes (before they sold to D.R. Horton) for around $160K. That same home just recently sold for around $370K and is almost in the same exact condition we sold it for in 2009…right down to my son’s red and blue rugby curtains from Pottery Barn Kids. It’s amazing to me how much things have changed in TR, yet some thibgs haven’t.
Agreed!!
Enjoyed the TR video! I live in Massachusetts but am considering moving to South Carolina down the road. I visited Greenville last October and loved it! Question about something you said in the video. One of the neighborhoods you were in you said was outside of TR city limits so you wouldn't pay taxes. What does that mean exactly?
sorry to butt in... around here (Buffalo, NY) a town has taxes but the village has an added tax, supposedly for more services. She refers to TR as a city... maybe just outside of the boundary the taxes are less.
@chrisw3421 Thanks! If I move to TR, I will make sure to get the scoop on taxes.
This is correct! Not really a deal breaker for people around here, and it's something to note!
Hey! Yes, what Chris said was correct. Basically if you live within "city limits" there is an additional tax to the county tax here. Nothing crazy, but it is something to note. It wouldn't be anything that I would let change my decision about where to live. =) Hope that helps!

I live in Massachusetts and my husband and I been looking into where we can move. We want a semi rural, a house with plenty of space and backyard but still at a drivable distance from a small city. USA is so big, we have no idea where to go. I just know I want to get away from the cold.
I FEEL this. =) This is what I can say about the upstate. We see all four seasons and we aren't far away from anything. You can be in the mountains, at the lakes, or even at the beach all within a few hours. The area is a melting pot of people so you will find your group that you fit with for sure! Everything is very drivable and you can be most places in the area in 30 min or less. Happy to hop on a call on zoom or even just a phone call if you want to discuss in more detail! =)
