The Neely Farm area with the large traditional houses in a wooded setting is beautiful. However, while you were driving the greater area, I kept wondering what South Carolina has against road maintenance.

Affordable for whom? The middle class have been pushed further and further out for decades. Why should the working class be guaranteed a prime location for a low price? A better solution is to freeze the assessed value at purchase time. This way you aren't taxing unrealized gains, and aren't forcing anyone out. If they sell, you can tax them on the realized gains. No one really benefits from tax payer funded slums. If workers disappear, wages will rise. Let the rich pay more. Don't make the middle class subsidize cheap labor for the wealthy.

As a buyer I want the commissions baked into the price. I don't want to put up thousands in cash at the same time I'm doing a down payment and closing costs. Then you try to pick a buyer's agent who will represent your best interest regardless of commission. IE they'll still negotiate the price down despite the lower commission.

I've been a resident of TR since 2004; my mom & I moved here when I was 5-6 years old; I'm currently 26 as of writing this (turning 27 on 9/25). In the last 20 years, I've seen this small city change. Back in 2021 when I had Subtular Fusion surgery on my foot, I went to ATI while my mom went to TruBroth. Now, my mom's going to ATI due to her breaking her foot (she's getting better). I recently went to the "Circa Barber Shop" to get my hair cut & I had one of the best haircuts ever!! I've also been to Chicora Alley Fire House, Whistle Stop Cafe, Farmhouse Tacos within the last year as well. I've seen the Pinestone Residence rise from the ground; not sure how many pics I took while it was being built.... Whenever my mom needed some food for our pet chickens, we used to head down to the "Brown Feed & Seed Store". In 2022, we sent one of my old laptops over to "Call Brandy Computer Services" (broke cuz of hard drive failure) to sort of salvage it; we succeeded. I also tried to get a job at GameStop a while ago (in case this YT career doesn't work out). However, for education, I didn't go to "Gateway Elementary", "Northwest Middle" or "Travelers Rest High School" like everyone else; I went to other schools that were 20-25 minutes away because my friends weren't at the schools that I mentioned. That's all I have to say on TR; it's one of the best places I've lived & I hope to continue living here for the rest of my life!! One other thing I wanted to mention: Recently, I've been thinking about buying the abandoned Rite-Aid near Burger King in case this YT career does work for me; could be a future studio space....

I've been a Simpsonville resident for almost nineteen years and up until 3 - 4 years ago I thought it was heaven on earth. What changed was the large (dare I say massive) influx of people moving here from other states. They are still coming and my town isn't the only one affected by this. What used to be a short, pleasant drive has become an engagement with traffic and while our politicians say they will address the issue none are actually doing anything. Our Upstate roads have been maxxed out already and there isn't room to widen them nor, except for a very, very few exceptions, add additional roads. New residential homes are going up everywhere yet no enviromental impact studies have been considered nor requirements established for the builders to assist with traffic concerns. I ask myself often why our politicians felt it necessary to approve permit after permit after permit to build knowing they were sabotaging our great communities?

I moved to Taylors after attending Furman University. Just fell in love with the area, so I have to agree it’s a great location. The downside is apparently now everyone agrees, housing is going up everywhere, traffic near us is now awful, and I get 20 calls a day from companies wanting to purchase my house. Ugh! They also text and send postcards. It’s starting to lose some of its appeal. I don’t plan on moving though.

2:24 Feels like leaving out Greenville having more free, live outdoor music per capita than anywhere else nationwide is a crucial part of affordability for entertainment outright, you know? It's a huge sell for the Upstate. 🎵

Grew up on Croft Street off of North Main. When you see the mail truck parked on the left the grey house next to it with the car parked in the driveway. My parents sold that house back in 1993 for $54k, now it's around $300k.

Greenville and Greer, South Carolina are too different than what you Northern folks would like. ie., Low Crime, great quality of life, and good jobs. Don’t move here. You won’t like it. Stay where you are. Ya’ll move to Detroit, Chicago, or LA.
