  • Come along with me as I explore The old MN&E railroad. Not many people know of its existence. Even 100 years later there is still traces in the swamps of Buckley and Mesick Michigan. While exploring the railroad I come across at the beginning what I used to thing was a boiler. I haven't Been back to this spot in many years and found the beaver have. been hard at work. Wheeler creek is now wheeler lake haha. I had troubles finding the RR due to the beavers daming up the creek. Toward the end of the video we come across a well known bridge in Mesick. This bridge was a main line of the Ann Arbor RR. The MN&E either split off the AA rail road or crossed somewhere.

A couple things the M&NE was the Manistee & Northeastern Ry., 2nd after the Pere Marquette merger with the Chesapeake & Ohio RR, the C&O also folded in the M&NE into its system.

Stumbled across this video as I heal from back surgery I just wanted to say I like the video. I am now the retired Fire chief for springville township and the bridge was believed to be some local teens starting the fire. At least that's what went into my report listed as hearsay getting our trucks back there was interesting. Still love to go out there to just get away.

Interesting about “hot rivets.” I’ll have to look and see if I can identify them.
