One of the greatest games in baseball ever played
The*
Arguably THE GREATEST GAME IN WORLD SERIES HISTORY!!! I was there for game 6 and 7. I flew from Seattle, WA fresh out the military (U.S. Navy and proud) a great homecoming for me. Now let's bring the series to Missouri I-70 series and avenge ourselves from 1985! GO CARDS! #REDSEA #REDSQUIRREL
Daniel Donald Haha I came here after watching Wong's walk off to win tonight's game. Could not imagine a greater home coming than that! Don't let the name fool you, GO CARDS!!
Well I guess Game 7 in 2016 and Game 5 in 2017 now have something to say
BlitzTaifun / DragonScales game 2 and 5 for the Astros!
The Real MVP is that fan who got out and snatched that ball so quickly. Quite a valuable piece of history he's got there.
It's in the Cardinals baseball Hall of Fame that's adjacent to Busch Stadium now. Along with Freese's ripped apart jersey.
Jeffrow Ryan did the man who got it get money or anything or did he voluntarily give it back?
@@usaviation6284 yes most likely... Maybe a signed ball/bat and cash...
US Aviation yes, if I remember correctly he gave it back to freese and the cards that same night. Didn’t ask for anything but an autograph, but the team gave him a pair of tickets to game 7 as thanks
The guy got a game bat signed by the entire team, tickets for game 7 and an undisclosed amount of $$. I always thought he sold way too soon (that night), I'd have asked for 24 hours and called an attourney.
This still gives me chills
Let's make it 12 this year!
+Frank Glaser too late, they're out
I know, but I'm happy with our season :)
+Frank Glaser Fair enough,I'm just hoping the Rangers don't mess their progress up
Me too, I want Beltre to get a ring
Diehard Yankee fan here but holy hell this was by far the greatest game I've ever had the pleasure of watching. Much respect Cards.
Kal-EL230 Cardinal fan here who feels the same respect for the Yankees. The Bronx Bombers are my favorite American League team. The only team other than the Cardinals that I root for on a regular basis
One love ❤️
ME TOOO!!! DIE HARD YANKEES FAN BUT THIS WAS THE BEST WS TILL THIS DAY THAT IVE SEEN THIS GAME WAS A ROLLERCOASTER RIDE ALL NIGHT LONGGGG AND I WAS ROOTING FOR THE CARDINALS TO WIN 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
Best resumes in the mlb
Who’s here after Freese announced his retirement?
He had a very good mlb career.
@MAN UTD lol it’s because you guys and those countries are so underdeveloped all you’ve known is to kick a ball of leather and strings for hundreds of years. You’ve never moved on beyond doing that to explore new things such as baseball or basketball or football.
@M idiot
@M you are so dumb there is only 195 countries.. How to 240 like soccer?
@@erichuck6221 And OWNS the most AWESOME PERFORMANCE OF A PLAYER IN A WORLD SERIES GAME!
He just retired and he will always be remembered for this.
Zechariah Cameron yep im an astros fan but still remember this like yesterday. Has to be one of the most clutch moments in sports.
David Freese' 2 out triple that tied it, Lance Berkman's later 2 out hit that tied it again, and then this Freese winner. Granted, I'm a Cardinals' fan...but nothing will ever, ever top this in baseball :) I feel privileged to have seen it.
itsadryheave
Until the Astros vs dodgers in game 2 of the 2017 World Series.
With freeze and Berkman with 2 strikes
80's I was to young to comprehend, 90's were a drag. This is by far the best Cardinal moment ever for me to personally witness live.
@@XxChuyoxX the astros cheated.
Was at Pirates-Rangers yesterday and they still boo him for this lol
We also boo Pujos 😂
ikr
it was a good series one that as a cardinal fan i will never forget
😁😁
Rangers fans petty as fuck. I know from being a Jays fan after Bautista's homer
Greatest. Baseball. Game. Ever
You could see it in the Rangers eyes. I remember saying to my buddy that night, "Those Rangers players know that they have absolutely no way of winning game 7, the series was decided tonight"
- the Rangers were completely deflated after the Game 6 loss. Sure, they did actually jump to a 2-0 lead in Game 7 only for STL to tie it up & eventually pull away for good. The Rangers had their 1st World Series title in their hands...& let it slip away.
And the Texas Rangers...haven't been the same since.
Cards were the definition of a team of Destiny that year
Texas Rangers almost 10 years later, haven't recovered from this.
@@danielsmit11 i think its the most obvious case of destiny in recent baseball memory. Maybe besides the 04 red sox.
@@sum3726 2019 nationals were a team of destiny in my opinion, going 19-31 and going on to win the World Series against the incredibly stacked and loaded Astros
I will never, ever forget where I was when this happened. I am a born-and-raised St Louis kid but found myself living in Austin, Texas, and I was at my regular bowling alley surrounded by Rangers fans. The alley had shut down but the bar stayed open so we could finish the game, and when Freese went yard, everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, fell DEAD. SILENT. Except for me. I was the lone voice screaming my head off, I mean I seriously lost it, just my voice echoing across 40 empty lanes. A few of the Rangers fans even said to me, begrudgingly, "I hate to say it but that was an all time classic. All time." Everyone knew instantly that we had just watched one of the greatest, if not THE greatest, games of all time. Add to it the fact that Freese is a St Louis native and life-long Cardinals fan, and you have a script that Hollywood itself could never have come up with. Just an unbelievably special moment.
VIVA CARDS!
fuck the Cardinals
Dopefish wrong territory
I don’t remember where I was for this game, but I remember the World Series win too well. Living in northern Illinois, my mom and grandparents were huge cardinals fans and raised me to go against the Cubs (aka my dad and brother.) I was a clueless seven year old girl who knew nothing about baseball but I still watched the game with pride. I was in my living room with my parents and brother watching anticipating a win. As soon as that catch was made, my mom and I were up off the couch jumping and screaming. It was so funny to me because I’d never seen my mom that excited. Now here I am, turning 14 in two days, and I obsess over the cardinals and offseason is so boring. I guess that was the game that really turned me into a fan.
@@johnmunro3762 especially when they are your own.
I just got chills upon chills upon chills reading this
1:05 .... 30 Minuets into Freese Walkoff and Chill, and Nolan Ryan gives you this look.
Lmfao
LOLOL I'm fuckin dead
I live in Austin, next door to Round Rock, where Nolan Ryan's MiLB Express play. Hes big shit around here, but every time I hear his name now, I think of this look on his face. I swear if I ever met him I'd probably shake his hand, then scream FREESE HITS IT IN THE AIR TO CENTER...WE WILLLLL SEEE YOU..TOMORROW NIGHT! because I'm a total asshole like that.
LOL
This comment is still hilarious bro
I love the high school reaction from the players. It's real.
- after winning a game like that in such dramatic fashion, I'd be jumping up & down too :-D
If you knew how many times the Cards were put into a “no matter how this pitch goes, we lose” situation, and still managed to tie the game, and then win. I was more childish in my own home than the cards were
It’s the World Series. Correct reaction
Maaan... I'm telling ya! Obviously the home run was #1 favorite part but my #2 moment was seeing them clear the dugout going crazy the way they did. Molina jumping up and down and raising his arms to the fans like "LET'S FKN GOOOO!". Like LaRussa said that night walking off the field "It doesn't get any bigger than that". What an epic thing to witness.
One of the greatest World Series ever.
At the top of a few. '97 Marlins also. Last minute heroics.
1975 & 1991 are probably the two best World Series ever
xxNitroGamingxx 2014? I know not the best but pretty damn intense
xxNitroGamingxx yes, this and 91
2016, 2017, and 2001 are probably the best of this century. This is probably fourth
This still gives me chills.
As much shit as Joe Buck gets for this call, I respect what he did making it an homage to his dad. Better yet, the 2 minutes of silent broadcasters during the afterglow just gives you shivers. That stadium is rocking, and you wouldn't have been able to hear it over them talking about Cops, followed by Cops.
darkmagician135 i liked this call from joe buck
I was in Linn, MO watching this game with my dad while canvassing a college I'd end up going to. You could hear the ENTIRE hotel going batshit insane after Freese hit that walk-off homer. The following night I watched the Cardinals win it all with my now ex-best friend in his basement. Whole neighborhood was in the streets partying, and fireworks were going off all over town.
Went to the Parade, and it was something I'll never forget in my life
This was only the 2nd greatest call Joe Buck ever made.
His greatest one involves Randy Moss
Yeah it made people take in the moment
Well, I wouldn't be too shocked if him and Tim McCarver shut off the mic and celebrated with Stl lol
As a big baseball fan from the Philippines, it was always hard to watch baseball. Being halfway around the world, the games came on in the morning and I was of course, always at school. But I still remember watching this game live, one of the few games that postseason I was able to watch. What an amazing game!
I thought I was the only Filipino who watches baseball, wow
You’re not alone. Granted I’m from Hawaii but I’m Filipino and a Dodger Fan. This was insane
Filipino Cardinals fan from St. Louis here!
This Game 6 was one of the greatest games I ever saw.
Freeze. You may have botched a catch in that game, but twice we where on the edge of losing the World Series. And twice you came through for the team. Down to our last out, our last strike. Thank you for 11 in 11
technically, lance berkman came through on one of the times we were on the edge of losing the World Series
yes i remember it
" We will see you tomorrow night " - Joe Buck 2011
That's his greatest call
-jack buck 1991
Worst broadcaster of all time
@@brozier6672 That "And we'll see you Tomorow night" Its his son so we let him off with that
Broz Gilson I’m guessing his call was a tribute to his dad 20 years later.
This game was a once in a life time event ... If you were a Cards fan like me that grew up in St.Louis no other sports moment could possibly ever compare ...I don't think you could of possibly scripted a more dramatic outcome .My personal favorite sports moment. Coming from someone who also loves football and hockey .
12 years later, the tears from this nightmare can finally be swept away.
Came here after cards just beat the Braves in the nlds. Putting up 10 in the first was awesome but man you can’t beat this moment right here. Remember right where I was. In college and turned 21 years old a few weeks prior. My roommates and I shot off some bottle rockets and the Busch beer flowed. Great memories. Love those Cardinals.
After this the Cardinals became one of my favorite teams of all time
dude their the team i usually go for in the playoffs but not that my padres will most likely make the playoffs i got the padres
The Cardinals fans are not Bandwagoners...
Geno Malkin He’s a Padres fan. Give him a break
@@MrFrankGlaser In the city and surrounding area agreed. But people from other zones can bandwagon if they want. I'm a diehard Cards and Blues fan but I always bandwagon when my team is out if there's a team I feel I can get on board with.
I'm a Twins fan and so will always claim that call as originally ours. But I do love the shots starting at 2:31 with the guy who caught the ball running to hug his buddy. So reminds me of the Metrodome on Oct. 26, 1991 after Kirby's homerun.
Crickets ....
The guy who caught the ball hugging his buddy was priceless!
"Put me in coach, I'm ready to play, today." - David Freese
watching this, in a small sports bar in my small hometown in IL... it was one of the greatest nights of my life. i thought we were going to tear the place apart. It felt like the whole world just happened.
Freese was out of his fucking mind
I'll bet he was when he was rounding the bases. :)
Yep. Also helps when the pitcher leaves a fastball hanging right over the middle of the plate like that lol.
David Freese the Hometown Kid who became a Hometown Hero. As a lifelong St.Louis Cardinals fan, and a lifelong Missourian, I still 12 years to the day couldn't be any happier for him. Well Done, David Freese. Go Cards!
This is without a doubt the greatest victory in the history of St. Louis sports.⚾️
This is something that I will never forget, World series MVP 2011
As a Cards fan, watching this gives me goosebumps and its just amazing
I still get the chills everytime I watch this
I went to St Louis with my Rangers shirt this weekend and I got reminded of this.... I mean this has been almost 6 years ago now.
Game card fans will never forget
I live in Texas and when I rock my Cardinals gear I still get shitty looks.
This will haunt Ranger fans until the end of time
Cards nation
😂😂
I was 11 years old and i remember that game like yesterday
After that comeback there is no doubt the "see you tomorrow night" meant "tomorrow night we're gonna be the Champs"Min 1:40
It was incredible.
that was a tribute to his late father Jack Buck who was a cards legendary announcer and is something his said i think in 93 series,so Joe Buck had it planned as a tip of the cap to the great cardinals franchise 11 titles second only to nyy
@@vegasraiderspetef9883 It was the 91 World Series. Game 6, Bottom of the 9th, Braves vs Twins, Kirby Puckett homering to left field. Broke my heart.

Matt Crider yes, this and 91
He said GAME buddy, not series.
Nah Dodgers and Astros Game 5 was better
AARON-CESAR AGUÍLERA Nice joke
AARON-CESAR AGUÍLERA As a game it was more wild but I wouldn’t say it was better
My favorite World Series game of all time!
"How did this happen?" Gets me every time 🤣
Greatest game of baseball ever played in my lifetime so far. Even better than Cubs/Indians Gm 7. The Cards were down to their last strike twice in an elimination game. Just wouldn't die.
"Welcome to a moment in history...."
And today this legend retires. We love you, David ❤️ Stl always will
I wasn’t into baseball much when this game aired. But the boys in my grad school class invited me to the bar to watch and chill. I had no idea I’d be watching one of the best games in MLB history. Reignited my love for the game. I can’t even imagine what that must have felt like to crush that ball and have your boys storm the plate. They looked like a bunch a little leaguers. So happy. Brought me back to those days as a child.
As a st. louisan, I get harder than a diamond in an ice storm everytime I watch this vid
😁😁😁 basically
Thank you David.
every time I watch this I love the sour expression on Nolan ryan's face even more.
sean duchinsky ---------ME TOO!
that night he lived the dream of every little boy in St. Louis to hit a game winning home run in the world series. st Louis has come close the last few seasons but hasn't had a team like this.
from St. Louis with love
the crowd at 2:15....chills.....the knew it
the single greatest baseball game I have ever seen in my short 32 years.
I’m 20 years and a day old today. That means if I was born on the same day Kirby Puckett hit the home run in 1991, David Freese would hit his home run today. October 26, 1991 and October 27, 2011.
my hair still stands up with the goosebumps I was going through a hard time and Cardinals and sports have been apart of my life since i was 5 I'm a die hard fan This was one shining moment I will never forget
Sean Penn is going to play David Freese in a movie.
I just keep playing the first 10 seconds over and over again.... Greatest baseball game I have ever been to! Let's get back there in 2017 Cards!!!
Today is the 10 year anniversary of this glorious event
During the cardinals' stretch run in 2011 I was going through a very rough time just personally. I'm a fourth generation cards fan, and watching them come back in the wild card and then through to winning the World Series was incredible. But this game, and this home run, gave me more joy than I had felt in the longest time. Bottom line is, the 2011 St. Louis Cardinals, and this game, saved my life and has been a continued source of inspiration for me. And in my opinion, just for the sake of debate, this is the most dramatic home run in the history of baseball, but of course I'm biased.
Who's here after he announced retirement?
I could sit here and watch this ALL day and it would NEVER get old! It's 1 word-SPECIAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That’s the best game I’ve ever seen. And I’m a Reds fan.
*absolute announcer silent* suddenly.. "How did that happen?"
I can watch this every day.
Best game of his career
Thatd be the best game of anyone's career

Freese wasn't that good. He shined bright that post season but other than that.. No. Cards are better off now than with him.
Yes, I hate to say it Blake but you're right. I just really wanted to see him succeed since he was a local guy. Just disappointed that he didn't get to stay and get better and better. :(

This game is without a doubt one of the greatest in World Series history. Down to their last strike twice, the cardinals refused to go away Simply amazing

Heard about Freese's retirement announcement. I had to go back and click the tired old link that I've cliked a hundred times before. I love being a Cardinal's fan.
In terms of overall WS, I'd say 2016 tops 2011, but, as a Cubs fan, this game beats 2016 Game 7 when talking about individual WS games.
