Hand Pulled Beer vs Perfect Draught System
Vložit
- čas přidán 7. 04. 2022
- Back in the Pub Shed we compare the Perfect Draught beer dispenser which enables beer lovers to serve various lagers and keg beers from all over the world at home.
We compare that system to the traditional hand pulled beer found in most pubs dispensing a increasing amount of traditional ale in the time honoured way.
And we sample plenty of beer along the way
Thanks Pat

Congratulations about your Pub Shed and hand pulled beer 👍🍺
Thank you so much, a lovely place to hide away in for a few hours.....thanks Pat
"Hi There" Pat.
Just got the word you are in the PUB.
GREAT!!!
We haven't watched it yet...but being it's the end of the work week...in a short while we'll pour a couple pints and watch it and "Have Another" along with you.
Thanks!
Great to share a few drinks with you Jerry, yes after work, Friday a great night for a few beers, luckily for me every night can be a Friday.....all the best Pat 😊
Hi Patrick your pub shed is looking better every time I'm in your pub! It's looking just great!
I must admit I'm a fizzy beer drinker as I think it's the fizz I like. The 2 systems will taste good plus I like cold beer 🍺.
It's great info what you say giving people a better understanding on the 2 systems.
All those pints will taste even better when it's summer weather and its refreshing especially in hot summer weather!
I've always enjoyed your pub shed videos and seeing your progress since the first video!
Take care Pat and ill see you in the next video!
Nice to hear from you, and yes we all have different choices where beer is involved,if several of us go out we haved different drinks lager, bitter stout drinkers.
As you now I prefer hand pull, it's smoother, warmer at 11C and just goes down so well, but all of other types, including fizzy lager have there place, in this enjoyable pastime........ thanks Pat 👍
Keep it going, looking forward to the next one!👍
My pleasure, will be either in a tent or in the pub, always a good, fun time...... all the best Pat 😊
@@patrickdickinson6492 cheers(skål!)from Sweden!🍻
Enjoyed the video Pat, very well explained. Made me thirsty 😁
Look forward to your next video.
Good job 👍
Glad you enjoyed it Jim....thanks Pat
I stopped drinking nearly two year ago. Im almost never tempted to go back. Not until I watch your videos. Damn I’m salivating
Good that you stopped, hope I haven’t spoiled your plan…….Pat
Great video again Pat. I used your video last year to figure out what I needed to get me started with a beer engine. I’ve never looked back. Sadly it’s nothing like your bar/pub. It’s a hand pulled for me it’s a great feeling pulling your own pint and watching it settle.
Hi Neil, yes the hand pull is the heart of the place, once you,ve got that other bits can follow, so good been able to pull a pint probably better than you get in alot of pubs.....all the best Pat
Nothing like seeing one of your videos pop up on a Friday 👍
Time for a few beers now its Friday.....thanks Pat
Pat you are a connoisseur. I was telling a work colleague about your shed pub, absolutely brilliant. This is very informative. I used to love JC strong pale ale back in the day, but only from bottle. I don’t think it exists anymore but there are a load of new ones by those young companies that are more or less the same. That Lowenbrau blue took me back too. Great to see a new video from you Pat, fantastic! 😀👍🏻
Thank you kindly Chris, love talking about beer and pubs, I must of spent a fortune in them, now I have my own.....thanks Pat
Patrick - it doesn't go down as easy as hand pull, yet he still drinks it down like a fish, I love it, all the best Pat you keep me young, don't stop making your pub videos I love them!!
Hi Gray will be back in the pub soon, already filmed it on hols South of France , should have video on Mon , "The Pleasure of Drinking"...... all the best Pat
Wow fantastic video made my n8ght very entertaining 😀 love the bar in the garden 😀
Glad you enjoyed it Julie, hopefully we will be sitting out there in the sunshine soon....thanks Pat
@@patrickdickinson6492 fingers crossed 🤞 you will be sitting out having a pint or 2 lol 😆
Hi pat great to see the pub shed again youve done a truly great job in it well am stuck in vietnam because of these
Lockdowns and i have no visa so god knows whats going to happen am past caring to be honest but am not giving in to there crap anyway am glad to see your videos again i hope youll always go from strength to strength best wishes to you and family always
Sorry to hear about problems in Vietnam, people seem to think covid has dissapeared here, it has,nt but we just seem to live with it now....cheers Pat
What a great video comparing two great ways to get a pint 😀
Glad you enjoyed it Natalie, always a good time in the pub shed.....thanks Pat
Jus’ bootiful.
My words exactly.....thanks Pat
I think Pat should run a competition to win the chance to have a few pints with him in the pub shed. Great video Pat. Makes me want to drink all afternoon!
Best time for having a drink the afternoon, then time to recover for next day....thanks Pat
Cheers Pat! Really interesting video. Enjoyed it even though I didn't have a beer to hand.
Thanks Fergus enjoyed making this one, give me the hand pull anytime ...... thanks Pat
Nothing better than seeing Pat slowly getting smashed on fine, hand pulled beers in his own pub shed. Great work and an entertaining video as always - ATB !
Thanks 👍...that's what its all a bout, having a good time, and hopefully entertaining people, thanks Pat
Brilliant video Pat!
Love that hand pull system you've put together! It's making me think! 🤔 I've got a cracking local brewery as well! 👍🍻
Hi there and great to hear from you, I enjoy your channel on the PD as well. Hand Pull system is more bulky and a bit more work, but really opens up your choice of beer and ales. I prefer hand pull, but the PD makes a nice change, great for summer, and with 28 day shelf live, no problem having a keg on all the time....all the best Pat
Pat,Respect from Liverpool UK
Cheers Leonard, and nice to share a few beers with you.....all the best Pat
Great video Pat, your a breath of fresh air. I think Pub Sheds should be mandatory when building a house 😊
Absolutely.....just that little bit of heaven you can retreat to.....thanks Pat
good to see ya supping again pat😂 its like pouring down the sink lol, even tho i dont drink nowdays, (used to) great to see the pub shed again, i love it.
Thanks Graham, always good in the Pub Shed....thanks Pat
Great video Patrick , and comparison of the 2… my plan is to go with the hand pump engine👍 cheers Rob 🍻
Definetly my favourite the handpull.....thanks Pat
Hi pat. Enjoyed that night out with you (lol)
Absolutely loving the pub. I'll have the stout
Mate this time. Then onto draft later thank you.
All the best mate. Old dave.

My pleasure..... thanks Pat
Evening Patrick, looking forward to this one , my kind of comparison video….👍🇮🇲
Hope you enjoy it Andy....love talking about beer..... thanks Pat
I’ve actually got a drink in my hand this time so Pat’s not got me craving a bloody beer at 11:30pm. Think I’d be an alcoholic if I had the shed pub, love it!
Hi Mike and nice to share a drink with you, all the best Pat
Cheers Pat🍻 great set-up and just a short walk home from the pub at the end of the night, perfect!
Yes Cher, the perfect location for a pub, at the bottom of your garden.....thanks Pat
Just needs a kebab shop in between 😂
@@kyndrydspyryt3867 😂
Great video pat. I now have my own pub shed after taking inspiration from watching your videos, it did cost me a few quid , mainly the cost of the summer house and getting a qualified spark in to do the electrics but was money well spent as I’ve had some great nights in it with friends and family 👍🍺🍺
Nice one....its an investment and hopefully you shoild get years of enjoyment out of it, I know I do....all the best Pat
Fantastic video pat. I hope you and your family are all well 🙏
All very well, hope the same for you as well....thanks Pat
@@patrickdickinson6492 thank you 😊 🙏
Nice to see you back in the shed Pat! I'd happily share a keg or so with you one day.. will need camp beds or tents in the garden though :) This was the kind of video that first attracted me to your channel.. Now I watch all your videos! all the best mate... Shaun from sunny Donny
Thanks Shaun, good to be back in the pub shed, such a pleasent place to while away a few hours with your favourite beer at arms length.....all the best Pat
Love your sum up. With another pint.
Good on your. Pat. Not counting. He He.
Ha ha, Stephen I think I lost count early on in the video, all part of the fun......thanks Pat
Hi there Pat.
It as been a pleasure to have a pint with you in the Pub Shed. Yes I totally agree with you that hand pull is a much nicer pint. Looking forward to many more pints shared with you, and occasionally those dancing ladies.
Take care, keep safe and keep smiling. Cheers. Pete.
Thanks Pete, yes any time spent in the pub shed is always a fun time, especially with the hand pull, the dancing ladies have been barred due to riotous behaviour, may let then back in one day.....all the best Pat
Well Pat I thought I’d never see the day I’d see you drinking halves lol. Well we all know something Pat your beer will never go out of date you seem to consume a keg in every video you do but it makes a brilliant video you necking the brew. But seriously you make a very informative video either in your shed pub or wild camp it makes compelling to watch. Keep up the good work and here’s to the next one 🍺🍺🍺
Thanks Keith, could,nt drink a pint of the Perfect draught just too cold, and I,am trying to be a sensible drinker...haha...all the best Pat
My favourite video, Pat, was the brilliant one of you making pizzas, flicking off the flying ants, and drinking a load of really good-looking beers. Priceless!
Glad you enjoyed it, I certainly did, the place to myself, nice and warm, a great camp.....thanks Pat
Great vid Pat as always. There is something rather satisfying about a cold draught lager on a hot summers day. But there is nothing better than a proper beer form a pulled pump. If im in a pub, I would go for an Abbot Ale or a Theakstons bitter of some kind - very nice. Down here in Kent - Shepherd Neame is a good pint, if you dont mind flat and warm.
Hi Steve, yes cold lager on a sunny afternoon, just great, but for me that's the only one, give me the hand pull any day.
We were on Canterbury last year and yes your Sheherd Neame was very popular ...... all the best Pat 😊
Brilliant, Pat ! At last , Lady H. and I have caught up with your vlogs. She is home from hospital , and survived , though it was a very close call. Having to have dialysis 3 times a week , but keeping her going. Looking forward to some summer days in the garden Got a brew frmenting now in anticipation ! The draft system is great for Pilsners, and such , and also very hop-forward Pales. These latter also go well on the wicket, too .For my brews, I use 25 litre Hambleton Bard poly kegs with sparkler taps. Even works well with bitters, if the gas pressure is kept to the minimum. I have it all in a large Beko fridge with a tube heater controlled by an STC 1000 unit, similar to the Inkbird , and it works for fermenting and keeping the finished ale at cellar temperature. Anyhoo , hope you and Mrs. D are in rude health, keep up the good work, Nigel H.
Nice to hear from you Nigel, and even better that Helen is OK, must of been such a tough and worrying time for both of you.
The Perfect Draught is ok for summer lager, but at the end of the day, I don,t like gassy lager, give me creamy smooth hand pull any day.
If I ever get the time would be great to do some brewing and would be ideal for my hand pull.... all the best to both of you..... thanks Pat
Fantastic video as always Pat, great to see you back in the pub, just what I needed while the weather is bad out. For the keg system, I'd recommend putting the spout much nearer to the glass, which should cut down on the head/froth. All the best
Thanks 👍....I'll try that, always seem to get such a frothy head.....thanks Pat
I agree, as you begin to pour, have the spout touching the glass.
Great video as always Pat!
I have been hoping to contact you recently about potentially doing a Q&A at one of Sheffield's most popular real ale pubs. Would love to have you there. If you are interested then please comment bellow, and if everyone can like this post in order to make sure that he sees it, then that would be amazing. Cheers Pat!
Hi Danny nice of you to ask, but perhaps not, more of a drinker than a talker...thanks all the same Pat
@@patrickdickinson6492 Hi Pat, thanks for replying. No problem mate, if you ever change your mind then you know where to find me! Love the videos, keep up the good work mate :)

Danny, what's your pub? I hope that you put Pat's videos on in there!
Hello there my friend, good to see a new video from you
My pleasure Shane, and nice to share a few beers with you.....thanks Pat
Lov it Pat well interesting you know your beer alright Nice one 🍻🍻🍺🍻🍻🙂✌️
Thanks Lee, a wonderful place to while away a few hours...... all the best Pat 😊
Another informative video, well done. I love a tight pulled beer. You can get very near to a hand pulled beer if you don't have a pump by pouring draught beer into a glass to about a quarter inch from the rim and then use a hand held electric kitchen blender/ liquidiser to sparkle the beer in the glass and build up the tight creamy head. You can also use this method on carbonated beer but be gentle at the start otherwise you'll have foam all over the ceiling!
Great tip! sounds interesting, thanks Pat
That’s a good time! 👍🏻👏🏻🍻
Yes it was!
Pub Shed, great idea👍 got to say Pat I think the hand pulled is for me too as those pints look grand.
Absolutely....cheers Pat
Very nice video sir! I would get an addiction if I had a pubshed. Im mostly used to beer in bottles or cans.
Yes with Hand pulled beer just at the top of the garden it's just too easy,....but very enjoyable........ thanks Pat
Nice feature Pat - been thinking about a perfect draft for a while now and after your excellent review have decided to take the plunge. They’ve got a good £50 introductory discount at the moment so that’s a win. Hope they’re giving you some beer credits for your marketing skills!!! Looking forward to the next wild camp - happy drinking - Andy
Great to hear to hear Andy, I,am sure you,ll find the perfect draught a good investment and you enjoy the drinks, should be good if we get a nice summer.....all the best Pat
Keep it up pat even when your 80 odd because your so entertaining to whatch brilliant videos all the best
That's great of you to say, and does feel good when people say they are entertained, my videos wouldn't be any good if they were not entertaining ....... all the best Pat 😊
I’ve got both and agree . The perfect draft is great , but does pour very heady . Great video once again 😊. Everyone loves to pull a pint .
Yes seems to be the same for everyone, but gives a nice cool pint in summer…….thanks Pat
Was waiting for this vid!!
Hope you enjoy it William, always good in the pub shed...... thanks Pat
Great to be back in the pub with you Pat. Bit cold for me that, I like my lagers cold but my ales and stouts a bit warmer. ATB Pat
Yeah Jamie, that was freezing the beer out the Perfect Draught be alright in summer though, great to share a drink with you..... thanks Pat
@@patrickdickinson6492 I've drank a couple of Old Peculiars watching Pat, what times chucking out?
One vote for hand pump (beer engine) from here! I like to move my unit around the house a lot. To the shed pub. To the kitchen. To the basement. Easy with the screws, just needs a firm table. Here's my dirty secret, but it works: Since getting real ale is a rare treat here in Finland, one can also use the hand pump with canned or bottled beer (works best with ales, stouts and other low carbonated beers). Just pour the bottles/cans into bigger container and pump the beer out with the beer engine. It makes pretty much every beer taste better and less carbonated, and also gives a beautiful thick and creamy head. Absolutely love my beer engine! Truly a piece of art. Works well with 5l mini-kegs too! Great video Pat, once again!
Yes the beer engine is a mechanical work of art, just love pulling pints with it, similar to you I have poured bottles into a beer in a box to top it up when running short, so much better through the hand pull. Nice to hear from you in Finland, cheers Pat
Another awesome video Pat. thanks very much ....i love your enthusiasm and dilligence when it comes to your hobbies and tastes...can you do one showing us how your Mrs manages to scrape you off your Pub Shed floor and get you upstairs....you dont have to include any action after that , just the landlords wife shutting up pub will do :)
Thanks Olan, luckly as I see the wife, I can assume a position of a very sober person just tending the flowers and bushes in the garden, I suspect she may of seen through my ploy though, but here's hoping.....all the best Pat
@@patrickdickinson6492 hahaha

Yes not that I,am a lager drinker, but nice in the hot weather..... thanks Pat 😊
