    It's easier to break it loose if you take that adjustable wrench sitting on your bench and put it on the other end of the bearing shaft and then rest it against the floor. Pull the breaker bar towards you and it will break loose on the first try.

    Helpful tip from a seadoo tech, use a blowtorch and soften a line in the plastic wear ring, you can then push a screwdriver between the pump housing and the wear ring, wear ring folds in half and falls out, don't need to melt it, just enough to soften it up

      i have 2 gtx 185supercharged 2003 year models and bought both machines with the pump housing destroyed from rocks bought new pump housings with shaft and bearings. does those need to be greased (new ones) and they turn easier then the old ones like they have resistence(old shaft when you turn by hand)

      I've had good luck drilling 4 pilot holes into the wear ring then screwing drywall screws in, and use shims and a hammer to pull the wear ring out.

    Thinking about your use of anti seize on the top of the threads and loctite on the bottom, it seems to me that as you screw on the impeller the threads will touch the anti seize first and spread that down to the lower threads with the loctite and cancel out the point of having loctite. If you want to keep them separate maybe put the anti seize on the upper internal threads of the impeller and the loctite on the bottom threads of the shaft.

      @@JRP3 thank you for the feedback. These two things can mix and the 518 will still be able to harden.

    Another great video man!!! I love those bearing pushers. I’m usually trying to use sockets and stacks of washers or whatever I can find that works at that moment. 😂

    • @2-smoke
      @2-smoke  Před rokem +2

      Thanks for the love. The sockets work well, too. I like the pushers because they give you the right depth. Worth it if you do a lot of pumps!

    You’re not the first one who’s slamming that wear ring for long minutes.
    I put the ring in the freezer for two days, and fallen right in to the position. And as warming back up, getting tighter and tighter. Not even one hammer hit.

    After heating with blue flame on propeller, let cool. It should shrink a little and be a lot easier to remove.

    I'm changing to the 140 mm large hub pumps on a 97 speedster with 2 720s. I'm just wondering what your before and after was. Was there a big difference in hole shot with the new large hub pumps?

    • @2-smoke
      @2-smoke  Před rokem

      Very noticeable. Now, the hub diameter isn't the only thing... I also upgraded the oem impeller (9/21) to a stock xpl (15/21). That alone is a big impact.

    If the housing has cuts or gouges underneath the wear ring does that effect performance or water leaks?

    • @2-smoke

      Shouldn’t. Install wear ring with tiny bit of sealant then.
