On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.

Does differential thrust work on the A-10?
Thank you, GS... for all of the time and effort put into these addictive aerial battles. It's been 2 years of education and drama infused bliss for me. Rewind is my other addiction, watching you fly over and over is like watch the Flying Wallendas at the Circus. Your verbal instruction in real time as you fly is top notch ! Thank you, sir.
I would LOVE to see what a CBU-97 would do against a swarm of Iranian attack boats boghammers! If a Strike Eagle is sufficiently high enough away from their deck guns wouldn't the CBUs (cheap at $300K each) take out at least 20 per ?

Just a thought... could we see an "air to ground" competition for a change, given that we ALWAYS see air to air and these are both ATTACK aircraft? Be far more interesting to see how they hit assigned targets in the exact same scenario (point strike, CAS, etc)

Yes that would be amazing
It's a cool idea, but I feel there would have to be a lot of limitations. Different types of aircraft have different methods of air to ground. Like the viggen, which is a move in fast and low, strike and get out. Where the a-10 is a slow and long loiter time to take out lots of targets over a larger distance. I love the idea of a-10 vs su-25 tho.
I suspect that what you'd find is that the F-15 is more capable at high speed, high altitude, as well as in circumstances where airspace superiority has not yet been won and the ship may be required to defend itself, whereas the A-10 might be more capable at short-range precision striking individual/mobile targets, anything involving gunfire, and CAS loiter times.
I really like the back and forth between planes. Please do this more in your dogfighting matchups!
He has explained before that it's not really always an option. The other player might not have one of the aircraft or might not be any good in it.
The power of the Strike Eagle was displayed in the last fight, as GS basically hovers above the A-10 to bleed its energy, then rolls over for the kill. That was the best guns kill I’ve ever seen GS perform. GS… the Air Force could hire you to train pilots via simulator. Great video bro… Thank you!!!!
14:00 I love how the F-15E just stays nose up and stable. Despite all its issues in a dogfight, that thrust and stability augmentation looks to be amazing.

ya its not always possible the other guy might not own the other aircraft or might not be good in it to the point that they feel comfortable dogfighting in it/able to put on a good show. They might even own it but have no idea how to use it. etc etc its not always as easy as just switching aircraft is what I'm trying to say I guess

When you realize that there is versions of the engine that powers the A-10, that can produce 50% more thrust per engine (although they are a little bigger and heavier), you can think what increase in performance the A-10 could had got 20/30 years ago.
You’d have to completely redesign the aircraft to handle that much more power, making it heavier and less maneuverable.
@@FS2K4Pilotweight and balance come into play as well. There really isn’t a lighter engine that produces more thrust.
@@FS2K4Pilot "Completely redesign" is a exaggeration. Sure you would have to reinforce it to handle the extra power, but nothing that would affect turning performance that much. For example, both the F-14 and F-16 got over 30% increase in power, and these aircraft were not "completely redesign". Also, you can de-tune a engine if you think the airframe couldn't handle all the extra power.
The A10 is such a beast. 15:20 you can actually see the landscape through the hole in his wing and it was still in fight until it finally broke off. lol Gotta love that plane. Good fight.
The A-10's "stability at low speeds" should give a HUGE advantage to getting "over-shoots" on passes as well as easier rolls towards/away from the 15.

Thanks for explaining things you have gone over numerous times. I like that you always are very explanatory with what you’re doing and what things mean. Some creators just cater to their long time subscribers and watchers and you make your videos watchable all the time.
Great to see you switching aircraft in these match ups. Let's us see the strengths and weaknesses of both aircraft and how they need to be flown.

I really want to see GS do some IL-2 dogfights. My favorite matchups in a a dogfight are maybe the Yak9/Spitfire Mk9 vs 109 F4/G2, Spitfire Mk9 vs G14, I-16/Hurricane vs 109 E7, P51 vs 109 K4 or G14, Spitfire Mk14 vs 109 K4 or even P51. The IL-2 1941 can be a fun dogfighter, it kinda feels like these A10 dogfights. I beat my buddy in a 109K4 in an IL-2 1941 the other day, he was so mad lol
I was a Aircraft Armament Systems Specialist in the A.F. and I worked both the A10 and 15E so this was super fun to watch .... did you do an A10 and SU 25 already?

The Mudhen feels similar to the Viggen to me (though much nicer to fly) - if you can’t get it done in one or two turns you’re better off running away at the speed of heat behind the nearest terrain feature then turning back in…

Love your enthusiasm for a dogfight, whatever the aircraft. Can you/do you use differential thrust with the A10, even with its half-engines? As they are set well off the centreline, I imagine you'd get quite an effect.
You also need some thrust to make an effect 😬
The window in which such a maneuver could be useful is very small, and those engines take time to spool up and down.
it has more than enough rudder control to not really need differential thrust.

What would be interesting is a best of 5, 1v1. Where each sides chooses one of 7 aircraft to bring in against an unknown bandit. Each person has the same pool of aircraft.

Great dogfight! I love seeing these strike craft pushed to their limits, and it's extra fun seeing an A-10 or Harrier pull something out of its bag of tricks to teach a faster plane a lesson.

I mostly watched this because I'm a petulant old kid and didn't want to go to bed.
If you're bored or run out of air to air mashups to try, I wish you'd do more missions like your string of A-10 videos. Those were fantastic. You don't have the luxury of every place on the planet to work with, but you could do Israeli strike missions and Israeli air defense against Iranian and / or Russian forces in Syria, Saudi defense from Iran, Ukraine / NATO vs Russia, Russian incursion on Poland, NATO fighter escort of bombers on Russia, defend NATO from Russian strikes, defense of Taiwan from China, South vs North Korea (if possible)... how about working on these? Have Longshot and others join in.

very interesting video, to be honest, as i saw the title and thumbnail, i just thought the a10 would smoke the eagle in a dogfight, but as in the video, you can actually defeat an a10 in a bfm fight with an eagle which is kind of surprising for me.

The F-15E IS a fighter, it's a strike fighter, it's even in the name, STRIKE Eagle. It's a fighter with a secondary air-to-ground role.
@@WinVisten I beg to differ, but it's primary mission is ground strike, NOT air superiority. It is NOT a dogfighter. Calling it a fighter is like calling an F-117 a "fighter".

@GrowlingSidewinder, A-10 will preserve energy longer if you ride the steady/chopped tone. Chopped tone can put you in stall/engine disturbance area and not realize it until its too late!

Was really hoping for the A10’s warning beeps would turn into Darude Sandstorm. We were so close to greatness.
Sooooo..... if the pilot of a high tech/high performance aircraft on par with the Strike Eagle is gunned down by a Warthog using the cannon survives, do they just wander off into the woods and stay there? Because I'd think if they walked back to base, they'd be like mopping the runway in the rain for the next year before they get another plane.

how does the F-15E's gunsight work?
the funnel seems to be too small to line up the target's wingtips and there are multiple dots in there.
so do you just keep the enemy in the funnel and hope for the best?

The F-15E is a beautiful module, however I hate the Vulcan sound from outside. It literally sounds the same as in the cockpit which makes no sense.
ya probably a placeholder for now, but I think it sounds great from the inside at least.
