About an hour away from Narita Airport by Skyliner, Ueno, the gateway to Tokyo, is the birthplace of Japanese cafe culture.
Immediately after the end of the samurai Edo period, in 1898, a coffee shop modeled on Western culture opened for the first time in Japan in Ueno.
In Ueno, where that culture has taken root, there are still many tasteful coffee shops.

Nice job! Those hidden places are basically socially currency. You share places like this with your work or social connections, you get big points. I have nights in Tokyo where me and a friend do, "I'll show you 3 of my special places and you show me 3 of yours." This is one I didn't know about; but to have this in your back pocket is gold. Cool that you worked in Miley and created continuity. This to me, shows the culture of Japan- arcane places that have been there forever, good food and coffee perfectly prepared, interesting owners, etc.; and done without girls bar stuff or anything that brings out pathology.
When you were walking to the stage and you were being shown the organ I was thinking the girl sitting in the booth looks like Miley, but I thought it is just a coincidence and then....Surprise!!! The girl showing the cafe was very Beautiful as well!

I must say, the design is stunning! The walls, the designs on the floor, in the eating area and the other areas we see are remarkable. You don't see this kind of work very often. The staff are very friendly and helpful. What a find! Great work. Oh, and Miley! Awesome. I was surprised by that. 2 former idols in this place. I thought they looked like rich people. This does seem like a very upscale place. Did you find it was expensive? Thank you for making this video. Another fine video you have made.

I looked this place up on Google maps and it's a cafe where people can enjoy smoking cigarettes. So it's not a none smoking place. Kojyo, the "y" is dropped and it's spelled Kojo located in Taito. Luna is very beautiful and the tour looks great.

This is such a stunningly beautiful cafe that, at first, I had to wonder about the menu (pancakes and ice cream floats): but, then, I realized the cafe adjoins the Ueno Guest House hotel. It makes sense to offer food that is appropriate for hotel visitors. The hostess and owners were VERY charming; I liked them very much. It, also, was an amazing surprise to discover Miley and her "fellow" idol after nineteen minutes--that was a "great-fun" plot twist. Many of Miley's fans had wondered about previously published still-photos from that day; thus, I am so pleased to have learned the reason for the costumes. Miley is SO beautiful in that historic outfit (I wish I had been there). Someone must inform Miley that foods like butter clog arteries, cause heart disease, and bring about early death--and that there are healthier ways to add calories (ramen and seafood, for example). JE, I really enjoyed watching this VERY interesting Miley video. Much like Miley's guest bartender video and her geisha video, I will watch this video repeatedly and, then, of course, watch her sing "Good Morning, Baltimore" AND "Become the Wind (the video where Miley is kneeling in a field of flowers) on her "Smiley Time" web site. Again, JE. You are the VERY BEST in Japan.
