Ótimo o vídeo , estava procurando por algo assim , aqui no Brasil não se tem muito conteúdo a mostrar da R6 , agora eu mesmo irei fazer a revisão , saudações do 🇧🇷🇧🇷
This is better than I expected. I think I've seen a video on a cbr600rr and the oil filter was right under the header and you had to take the entire half side of the fairings off.
For what it’s worth, mines a 2008 R6 (not S) special edition, I use 4T Racing Mobil 1 motor oil, and model KN204-1, K&N as a filter and I’ve also used the OEM filter. Oil stays clean either way and it performs very nicely. I’m at 19k on the odometer. Gentleman on the video is 100% correct. Oil and fluids maintenance, break pads, it’s all cheap and easy. Even coils and spark plugs are relatively easy to moderate difficult to replace. Take care of your baby and she will take care of you!!
Hello there, Thanks for this video very informative. I would like to make a request. Can you make a video on how to change the oil of your steering damper stabilizer because I think you will make a good tutorial on how to do it. Thank you.
I will consider it but honestly I don’t think you really need to service a steering damper. It should be good for the life of the bike in my opinion. It’s not really a high wear item
Great video. Why did u heat the oil? I haven't rode in 4 months. I heard it's better not to start the bike since the oil had been sitting for a long time and do the oil change before the first start of the season. Is that true? Thoughts?
Not starting your bike over the winter months is just because it builds up condensation and contaminates the oil if you are not getting the bike hot from actually riding it. Personally I would still start the bike before the oil change as it helps thin out the oil for draining easier. It also mixes the contaminants in the oil and helps get more out. My personal preference is do your oil change at the end of the season so you have clean oil without any contamination sitting in your engine / bearings long term. Then that first start next season is already fresh oil ready to go 👍.
Sorry for the dumb question but this is my first bike. The oil was changed before 1500 miles or 2400km do I need to changed it again before I parked it for the winter ?
I like to change the oil before winter so the bike doesn’t have any contamination or moisture sitting inside it long term. That’s just my opinion though. Honestly if the oil doesn’t have a lot of use on it you could leave it and it won’t hurt anything. Just take it for one last good ride / heat cycle to make sure no moisture is in the old oil. Don’t start it over the winter either. Starting it without riding it and getting it hot just introduces more moisture and condensation back into the engine oil.
This is all WRONG! And you didn’t at least put 1/4 of a quart in the filter you just installed it all dry?? And the bike calls for a level surface when doing a oil change not up on the rear stand un-level and the bike calls for 2.75 not 3.2 and completely full… your oil level should be half up the dip stick! Obviously your rear is lifted so it’ll read high but still you dumped a little to much oil in.
Agree, this video had good intentions and is well explained compared to other videos, however there are 2 BIG mistakes, 1) leaving the bike on the rear stand will lead to improper oil drain and inaccurate oil level readings. 2) Not filling the new filter with oil. If the OP of the video actually cares about helping R6 owners he should delete this video since a lot of other riders that are not informed will just follow this video and think its the right amount of oil leading to possible engine problems down the road not to mention that you are spending more money on an extra L/ QT. Always read the manual!
The oil change is fine, you don't have to add any oil to the filter as per manufacturer specs, people doing that because they want It's very simple guys just check your oil level after servicing.
Ride safe ya'll, about to change the oil on the R6 aswell; thanks for the video!😀. Shoutout from Brooklyn, N.Y.
Cheers brotha!
I've been looking for a video like this for a while thanks man for the explanation on how to do it.
I’m glad I could help!
This video is way better than the first one in the search
Thanks. I’m glad I could help.

Thanks brother. I have the same bike, i just did the oil change on mine based on your explaination video. 🙏🏻🤟🏻
I’m always happy to help out a fellow rider!
Tks for the side fairing tip! I hate those clicks!
Right! They can be annoying
Appreciate the video brother, local shops charge 85-90 for the job.
No point in paying that for simple jobs like this. I’m glad I could help!

I have a 08 r6. I see a OEM oil filter on Amazon that says 5GH-13440-60 ? Is this okay to use on my bike. The one in the video says 13440-61
Possibly an updated part number? It should work but the filter in this video is what I got straight from the dealership.
@@JT2JZ okay thanks man guess I’ll have to take a gamble
You could always give your local dealer a quick call with that part number to double check

So much difrent than the cbr. intresting oil filter placement on the yamaha .
I agree. Not the most convenient location.
My R1 is probably worse though. Right behind the hot header and have to wiggle it out.

What headlights are those I want to get rid of the old yellow halogen look
They are piaa bulbs
Where did you get them ?
You can buy piaa bulbs almost everywhere.
I bought them local at a custom truck accessory shop.
What’s the tool you use to remove the oil filter
Usually you can get it on and off by hand but if it was over tightened just use some adjustable pliers
Is that drain plug reverse threaded?
No
@@JT2JZ gosh, the finger movement looked clockwise on first watch haha
My Filter dont Go out, Even Not with a hey 😢
Sometimes if the old filter is very tight I have used channel lock pliers to break it free.
