  • Great time flying the new Raw 580 Nitro in the backyard this 4th of July weekend. For those of you interested, here is my setup:
    O.S. 50 Hyper (not .55)
    Hatori SB50 pipe (found in stash of old stuff!)
    Switch 603XF main blades
    Stock SAB tail blades
    8.6:1 gear ratio
    vBar Neo
    ManiaX 2s 3500 mAH receiver pack
    Theta DH1 (low profile cyclic)
    Theta Sabre-C1 (mini servo for throttle)
    Theta TH1 (low profile tail servo)
    XGuard RC Pro Igniter & back plate RPM sensor
    Loving this setup, it is quite different than stock. The different gear ratio and longer blades make it feel like a true 600 class machine. However, you can't go wrong with the stock gear ratio and 580mm blades. The new S line blades from SAB rock and the heli is more forgiving to poor collective/cyclic management. I am used to the feel of a 600, so this is why I went this route.

    Hey Bert nice flying as always! Question, why can’t SAB make a canopy scheme like this Raw 580 nitro for the Raw 580 electric! The raw 580 electric flys awesome but the canopy needs to go. Atleast offer a different type of canopy scheme options for both the Raw 580 nitro and electric.

    • @BertKammerer
      @BertKammerer  Před 2 lety

      Hmmm don’t know? Lol. I know you can use this nitro canopy on your electric Raw 580. It fits perfectly.

  • @fazzyman136
    @fazzyman136 Před rokem

    Bert, could the regular Raw 580 electric Canopy fit on the Nitro Raw 580 without any cutting/modifications? Im thinking of getting back to nitros and the Raw 580N looks like a feasible option.

    • @BertKammerer
      @BertKammerer  Před rokem

      You have to cut a little bit where the bottom of the muffler is, but it is very little. Super easy to do. I recommend sticking with the nitro canopy as it is clear coated. The electric stock canopy has a matte finish and the nitro will eat it up. Alternatively you can get the new white/orange canopy that is made for the electric and cut it a bit to fit the pipe. That one is clear coated.

    ya, this video clinched it and I ordered one from you last week. I happened to have the same motor sitting around so it was a sign. ok I have a question before I order my servos from you this week, I haven't seen a 580 yet running mini cyclic's, which is the mounts it comes with right? everyone seems to be running the optional full size mounts. I was planning on running mini but now I see you running the low profile 40 mm and im thinking theres a reason not to run mini? one more, do I have to have an android to program the theta's? thanks and awesome flight!

    • @BertKammerer
      @BertKammerer  Před rokem

      Hey Michael, minis are preferred as they’re much lighter! I happen to run full size because I already had them. If you want NFC programmable mini servos, you’ll need the Sabre-C1 servos. If you decide to run full size then you’ll need to purchase the full size servo mounts. Part number H1217H1207-S.

      @@BertKammerer ok thanks a bunch, I used Torq mini's and flew the maiden today in 25mph winds!! so smooth. I do have another question, do you use servo grommets on nitro heli's? I noticed the manual doesn't show them installed and my links are slightly angled using the grommets that come with the torq servos. (the square ones) I also noticed it seems the kit had screws for both applications. your thoughts?? thank you very much for the info.

    • @BertKammerer
      @BertKammerer  Před rokem

      @@michaelvickers8575 I don't use grommets, but some people think they're needed. I have never had an issue, especially with a small nitro like this one.

    • @BertKammerer
      @BertKammerer  Před rokem +1

      Sorry for the late reply. 2250 RPM with the 54t pulley, which is the correct ratio for the OS 50 and OS 55. This puts the motor where it needs to be for maximum torque.

    • @BertKammerer

      Depends on your motor, the OS 50 and OS 55 are happy at 2200-2300 with stock blades and stock gear ratio.

    What kind of fuel??

    • @BertKammerer
      @BertKammerer  Před 2 lety +1

      This is RotorRage 22.5% just because I still have some left for my OS 105, so not the ideal fuel for a 50 size engine. Should pull more and better with 30%, which is what I will be running in the future. Unfortunately RotorRage went out of business so I’ll have to run something else.
