    My purpose for breakfast is to break my fast. Many times I don't want food 1st thing in the morning.... unless I ate carbs late at night (in this case, I'm prepared to have fat or protein the next morning to control my hunger from eating carbs the previous day.

    Hello Dr.Mindy!
    This is a topic that I have discussed many times with people about breakfast food.
    I was SO INSULIN RESISTANT,
    and thought my organic yogurt with organic raw honey and organic blueberries and strawberries was a nice light healthy meal to start the day!
    Then I watched your channel and discovered the proper way to heal my body. I haven't had any seed oils, grains, little dairy, only full fat cream cream starchy vegetables or sugars of any kind for 5 months now and routinely fast for 16/8 to 18/6
    everyday. (still haven't done the 36 hour fast) Anyway, I have shared this before in the comments section and want people to know how important it is to listen and learn and DO!
    I have cleared up numerous health issues including bladder leakage, night sweats,
    sleep depravation, constipation, and most dominantly lack of energy.
    NOW, I AM FREE! 😊
    18 pounds lighter in 5 months,
    and feeling terrific! This is permanent change for me and I hope to reintroduce wild rice and organic potatoes in moderation in the future. I am working on the last few pounds with exercise routine and back to 🧘‍♀️ yoga.
    Thank you AGAIN for your valuable help and professional knowledge on this matter. Turns out my yogurt and berries breakfast was spiking my glucose big time! I would be hungry for the rest of the day. Now I include avocados in my dinner salad 🥗 . My "breakfast " is also a salad with mixed greens, olives and hot pickles, veggie of the day and a glass of either 🥕 carrot
    juice or daily greens juice.I always add a good protein to my salad as well. Tuna or egg salad, leftover salmon or cottage cheese. Doing gr eat thanks to you. Thank you hardly seems enough! ❤
    P.S. I am 74 years old.
    I also discovered avocado mayonnaise which I use for both the tuna and egg salad.
    My homemade dressing is "mothet" ACV, Dijon mustard and EVOO. YUMMY! and a good way to get ACVinegar first in my system. ❤

    • @aliciastanley5582
      @aliciastanley5582 Před měsícem +3

      Depends how you are doing with the carbs of yoghurt with the sugars of fruit first thing in the am. How high is your glucose? Better at breakfast do protein with healthy fats . If I eat yoghurt at breakfast I as diabetic type2 I have a quarter cup with 2 table spoons hemp seed, one tblsp of ground flax seed (protein & fiber), tad of fruit extract with lots Ceylon cinnamon, 2 pkts stevia, 3 broken up Brazil nuts and or pecans or walnuts ( more protein & good fats). If I’m eating the yoghurt at my 2nd meal a day I’ll have the same but add 3 organic blackberries or raspberries or 1/4 cut up grapefruit or organic. Cranberries like 4 to maybe 6 cut up smaller. But I only eat it at the 2nd have of the meal with a protein 1st - 4 to6 ounces. This keeps my glucose down.

      It’s more than just a misnomer to describe the cravings from sugar withdrawals as “hunger” and a bit of a disservice to one’s understanding of the human body.
      Cravings and hunger are markedly different things.
      The vast majority of people have never experienced hunger (it would take doing a true water fast of 40+ days and it presents as a burning sensation in the throat).

    If you're going to eat eggs, seek pastured -- better for you, the birds & the farmers. Sadly, an estimated 95% of eggs in the U.S. come from chickens raised in cages that house 4-12 birds, giving each bird roughly 67 square inches of floor space (about the size of an iPad). Organic eggs come from “free-range” chickens that mostly live in large, crowded aviaries w/limited outdoor access. Legally, to qualify as organic, eggs must come from chickens raised on organic (no pesticides) feed. A 2010 study from Penn State showed that eggs produced by chickens allowed to forage in pastures are higher in beneficial nutrients. Eggs from pastured hens eggs had twice as much vitamin E and long-chain omega-3 fats, more than double the total omega-3 fatty acids, and less than half the ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 fatty acids than those not given access to pasture. Vitamin A concentration was 38% higher in the pastured hens' eggs. Happy🐔= healthier eggs.

    • @chiniwillly
      @chiniwillly Před měsícem +5

      I have chickens who are free. I’ll tell you right now why farmers don’t keep them free. I don’t believe anyone could possibly buy the quality of free pastured chickens that I have. If hens are free- and I don’t mean free range I mean completely free- they will choose their own places to make their nests. You have to try to make places for them to lay and and just hope n pray they like your spot. It requires a lot more one on one. It is time, it is losses, it is not something an egg farmer could ever play around with. Because they’re my own and it’s my tiny farm, I go through the drama to get their eggs. I used to sell them when they were laying in my nest boxes, and people told me they were the best eggs they ever had. Now I see why because like half my hens have hidden their nests and I can’t find them and it’s frustrating hahaha no more selling eggs for me.

    Dr Pelz, please what can I do about the heartburn? This is the only thing that upsets me on my fast. Sometimes gets too strong. I drink lot of water constantly

    • @naomiAcronym
      @naomiAcronym Před měsícem

      For me, heartburn is a sign of both low stomach acid and eating a meal that creates acid without food that alkalizes (broccoli with a protein, for instance. Sugar also creates acid). Apple cider vinegar alkalizes. I use about a teaspoon in a cup of water (but not with meals to avoid diluting my enzymes).

    The purpose of breakfast for me is to ground and stabilise my body enough to tolerate coffee at least half as well as it used to! :D But the enduring mental and emotional stability I feel through the day after a protein themed breakfast is a very welcome bonus. ;P

      As your children grow, be curious, ask them if they are hungry in the morning. Dr Mindy shares when she did this with her son, she learned he wasn't hungry til a bit later in the morning. We cannot advise on what you should do for your children.

      It could break your fast if you look what's in it! The only way to know is if you test your blood sugar before and after you consume it. If your blood sugar goes up more than 5-10mg/dl points, it's kicked you out of a fast.

    So where I live raw milk is illegal. I can get pasture raised jersey milk that is pasteurized. I’ve been making kefir with it. So is my kefir useless? Most of the world is not California and don’t have the luxury of newer laws.
