    I really felt that part when you said you asked God what door is open for spiritual attacks. Praying for discernment in all area's of our lives is so important.

    This is so true about music. As Christians we have to be mindful on what we allow in through our eye gates and ear gates. In the beginning it can be hard to stop listening to a favorite secular music artist but as time progress eventually it becomes apart of the past. I love jazz and I listen to the best Christian Jazz artist in my opinion, Ben Tankard. His music sings all by itself, it's beautiful. Not sure if you are interested but maybe you can take a quick listen to his music. You can find him on CZcams as well.

      Thank you Angela! I appreciate the suggestion. Since you're into jazz, you might like Yoni Charis. He makes Christian lofi music that I like listening to throughout the day. Thanks for again for the feedback!

    Hi Amber, thank you for being so honest about your struggles with listening to certain types of music. I can relate, last year I prayed and ask God for help because I couldn't do it in my own strength. Ask yourself if the music/lyrics honor God. It all boils down to obedience. I'm struggling in other areas too so I'm not judging at all. God bless!🤗🫂

      Olyvea!! Thank you so much for reminding us that we don't have to overcome sin or strongholds in our own strength. I know it's something we know, but at the same time, it can be so easy to forget. Thanks for the encouragement and God bless you!

    Ending last year I had to delete all secular music from my phone because I learned that music opens my spirit to either demons or the Holy Spirit. It wasn’t easy at first but I had to choose what spirit have access to me. It felt right doing that.....

    Thank you for your transparency and I also deleted all of my Beyonce after I watched Jackie’s video but the Holy Spirit had already been telling me it needed to be deleted. If you enjoy hip hop I would suggest Andy Mineo. I have the same issue with Christian music and I usually go back to artists from the early 2000’s like Kirk Franklin, Tye Tribbett, Israel and New Breed because that era of gospel music had diversity. I’m thankful for the other suggestions as well!

    Praying for you Amber! I hope your speaking engagement goes well at your church!! It has definitely been a rough couple of weeks and I hear you about getting back on track because there have been many tests and triggers, traumas resurface, etc. But I continue to feel the Holy Spirit guiding me and God covering me, the more I turn to him.
    This is what I meant during the fast about knowing your distractions. I am with you on this! Music and reality TV are big for me also. Sadly, I absolutely love Netflix and cooking shows but I'm starting to find that even those are distracting me from hearing from God. I've found that there are things in this world which may not exactly be outright harmful to your spirit but continuing to put those things before God will be and that is how the enemy tempts me. A little here and there and before long I'm watching hours of cooking shows when I should be diving into God's word to strengthen my relationship with him. I think this also depends on where you are in your spiritual journey. Anyway, getting off my soapbox now lol thank you for sharing with us and keeping us encouraged! Stay blessed and remember that God has so much planned for you. It's all a part of the beautiful journey. 💓

    What's worked for me lately is listening to "clean" versions of Drake or anyone else. The bad words are gone but the beats are still 🔥. If there's not a clean version I just skip it. But I'm satisfied with the huge catalog of "clean" versions of songs out there

    • @amberdmccann
      @amberdmccann  Před rokem

      I used to do the same thing, but honestly, it still affects me. (I tried to get around it lol) But speaking of "clean" versions, have you noticed that Apple has been subtly doing away with clean edits? I just don't understand why they would do that!

  • @shesfearless_shesgodfearing

    Girl I feel you! I've found Christian artists with an R&B sound, and I have not turned back to secular music ever since. You should check them out: Allia Lara, Jackie Legere, and Uninvted.

    I understand where you're coming from about the music. Coming from a musically inclined family, music has been at the center. However, growing spiritually and with discernment, it's important to understand that there is a reason why music can be influential and can compromise the spirit. The enemy was the angel of music, therefore, now in earthly ways, he uses it to impact the spirit. Give Christian music more chances until conviction. Spotify has different genres, you just may have to dig a little deeper. Praying for you 🙏🏽

    This is really good advice. However, I would like to ask do you think all secular music is bad? like secular music that doesn't mask evil as good, but rather talks about good positive things. I have only been feeling conviction about taking out my bad secular music, but I know some people believe if it is not "Christian music" then it is demonic (even though there is no such thing as Christian music but music rather made by believers). If that makes sense. Thank you for making this video, and speaking so much love towards Beyonce. I also pray the same for her
