Very underrated channel if you ask me. Your guide video's are very well made.
Thank you for the kind words! Make sure to share my videos on your social media if you like what I do, and thanks again!
Yes you are right
Totally agree
Thank you for your videos. I just got astroneer a couple weeks ago, and I absolutely love it.
Your videos though have helped me along a lot with things i either didn't understand, didnt know, or just didnt think of. So for that i thank you very much. Great videos, very well put together, and very clear delivery :)
I played astroneer by myself when it came out on pc awhile ago. I just picked it up two days ago with a buddy on Xbox and it’s freaking awesome. Also very glad I found this channel. The videos are perfect length and explains the info great. Keep up awesome work!
Thank you for the great compliment!
Any other electrical people triggered by “let’s call it an amp cause we’re measuring power” WATT
I’d like to know WATT he was thinking
Wire we having this conversation? Couldn't you come up with anything more current? ;)
Go 0hm, you're drunk.
Yessssss
Lov this reply section 😂
Excellent video. I appreciate your method of measuring power distribution from each device. Helps me better strategize how I'll balance out my base or build my mobile base. Your explanations for this are very logical and make me feel like I've just learned something new I can use in a game I've been playing for almost three years. Thanks, man. Just subscribed.
Very kind words, thank you!
Thanks so much for your videos, they are extremely helpful, and you do an amazing job at explaining things quickly and to the point! Thank you!!
So glad I found your channel, the videos are incredibly help and enjoyable. Keep up the good work and thanks!
Thank you for the warm compliment!
09:21 What a beautiful setup, so clean and organized. My base is s complete chaos, lol.
First bases usually are especially on the initial play through.
Amp is for current. Watt is for power.
Thank you for the correction!
came here to say that lol ty
Watt did you say?
@@rogerarmstrong3573 nice
Watt you say? I'm sorry, I can't ampere you. Joule have to speak louder
This is literally one of the only helpful guides out there on Astroneer 1.0 right now. I'd love to see a "beginner guide" with what to build early on/how to find research items and mineral deposits/what to work toward - that sort of thing.
Thank you for your kind words!
@@OneLastMidnight I'm in the middle of your initial 5 hour stream right now.
Me and my friend moved to a new planet and didn’t make a shelter so we used the oxygen from both our rockets and brought tethers with us but my friend had a backup plan and had everything he needed for a medium table so we used that and my backpack was full to the top with organic and organic generators so it was quite easy to start our new planet journey, but our new planet the purple one idk, anyway so yeah it was high wind low sun and we needed bites so we had a whole base of wind turbines was that a good choice.👍
Even though the game has gone through so many updates this has still helped me so much! Love your videos
Glad you like them!
Amazing video! Didn't really understand the power system before watching this video.
Really helpful!
Thanks for watching!
Your videos are really helpful and informative. Thank you!
The generator makes sence if you dont have access to solar or wind like subterranean bases. Thanks for the tip videos. These are helpful
Thanks for watching!
I've found that wind generators will work in at least some caves. If you need power in one take a small wind genny with and see what it does. It didn't work all the time but it's more convenient than running organic back and forth. If you need more power you could take a couple of medium wind gennys down wile they are still packed. I built a little research station on a large platform I found some debris on in a cave. It's nice not having to take them up to the surface that way.
I'd like to know how many amps are produced by the large broken Solar array "debris" that can be found .
Same it spawned near my base like 3 feet away i want to use it for maximum power that is why i came to this vid
If it is broken or is Debris, it cannot be used, you can find a working one, but is rare, I've only found one, make a buggy, seat, beacon your base(with quartz) then go scouting!
It can produce 2 U/s when the sun is hitting it indirectly, and 4 U/s when the sun is hitting it directly.

@One Last Midnight -- I know you probably found out already but most of what you covered can be accurately measured with the Power Splitter module to gauge the unit of power. Good video btw.
7:55 "i dont even know how many items each power takes" lmao
I'm glad I brought you joy! :)
@@OneLastMidnight i definitely giggled haha
Good video.I wish your channel will grow up to much and thanks for all tips.
Very kind words, thank you for watching!
You are the best content out for this game !!!!! Thank you so much!!!!
Thanks for this! I really enjoy this game, but I feel like there's tons of stuff im missing out because the explanations in game are less than stellar.
I'm glad to hear it was helpful!
ur channel name was enough for me to sub ..loved ur channel
I make a "power farm" from the generators I pick up from debris piles. That plugs into to a medium storage unit filled with small batteries then to the HAB, also with 2 batteries, (used as a splitter). I usually don't have to worry about power until it's time to implement automation.
This is a very old video that needs updating.
This video was a very big help thanks a lot
You're welcome!
Great content. Picked up Astroneer with my two boys and we're bonding over it. Great sandbox game. Our base is set up with 2 large turbines, several medium solar panels, and a small battery bank with about 10 batteries. More than enough to grow into. I've noticed the max output on the power switch is 30 units? Is that that game's natural limit, or maybe the switch is limiting the throughput?
super helpful the two thing this game doesn't have a compass that can use any time and an better power explainion would be nice thou simple break down of it helps so much
Very helpful, thanks!
Thank you for your tips :)
Watched a few of your vids. I award you a sub :)
Thank you for watching!
Great video!
Thanks, great vid, can I just connect power like satalietes to my main base?
A little background music would be neat :)
After almost 1 year with astroneer, I still learnt new things! Thank you!!
Thanks for the advice, and for watching!
i want EITHER to learn something from a tutorial, OR to listen to music. while watching a tutorial without music, everybody can play the music he wants from any other source. but when i'm concentrating on the contents (also remember that not all viewers are native english speakers) i can't mute annoying(ly) distracting music. (which school plays "elevator music" all the time during all classes?)
and having no music also may help with getting no/less copyright problems.
Makes me said you gave the medium generator a pretty harsh dismissal. I saw them as early game batteries. Use a variable source of power to make carbon and then whenever you need it you turn on the generators to get the power back on demand. I also thought about using this for planets that have very little power available. Just deliver bulk carbon shipments from a different planet.
Good idea, and you are correct, I haven't given them the correct amount of attention.
Thanks for this video my good sir!
Thanks for watching!
This video answered exactly all the questions I had incl. the additional ones (power buffering). L+S :D :D :D
4:19 idk if it was updated later but the Array provides 8U of Power ^^
anyway great video helped me a few moths back ^^
Glad it helped! Yeah, numbers have changed since this video was made.
Power cells i view as cheap disposable power if you have abundance of zinc
Edit: also a little pro tip, if you have medium storage silo and have it filled with small batteries it gives off like 23 or 26 amps where as the medium battery gives like 6 so double if triple the power output 🤙🏼. I have to look again but yeah it's a little more efficient to have small batteries on the silo thing then just having a medium battery
Thanks for the comment! I think I covered the small batteries in my Pro Tips 2 video.
I like your tips for playing astroneer so im gonna subscribe
Very kind, thank you for watching!
Your welcome
Few notes i'd like to add. RTG produces 4, exactly. solar array, 8. As for medium generator, though it is a bit of work to make the fuel, it is still worth it energy-wise. For comparison, small generator burns 1 organic in the same time a medium generator can burn 1 carbon. Medium gives 3x the amps. When you consider total energy produced, small generator gives about 3 small batteries worth of energy, while the medium generator gives about 8, AFTER you subtract centrifuge and melting cost for the fuel. Avoid centrifuge and gather organics yourself and you are at 8.5
Great info!
I recommend that you use power cells for vehicles like the tractor or rovers. It still loses energy quite quickly but it can get you where you need to go, thats for sure
Thanks for the comment!
I like to use a small solar and a small wind turbine and the power cell is a backup if the wind stops at night and it keeps me going
Claire Harrison you don’t need a battery attached to the rover?
A battery and a small wind Turbine works for me on the tractor with 3 trailers.
I've noticed now it shows the production and consumption of each item in the catalog
Hi! I'm enyojing your channel. Thank you. I wanted to ask you: have you analyzed batteries on another video? I want my batteries to recharge only during the day, so thay they don't drain my power, and then using its chanrge for the night when solar and wind based power are not working. I find that medium batteries give 5 units but drain also 5 units, so if I connect them without any restrictions to my network, they are always recharging/draining. I'v used a divider and a power detector attached to a small solar panel to toggle recharging (night drain/day recharge). Anyway I find batteries difficult to understand. Have you other videos about these problems with batteries in the game? Thank you in advance.
let's talk about power distribution and sharing in a base.If i understand correctly a normal 4 pin cable can transport 4 unit of energy at once so if i've a cluster of different energy source(generator, natteries etch) connected to other platform in ONE point i can distribute only 4 unit of energ(at maximum). But after i connect a platform with my source energy(or a cluster of source energy combined) how different machine sharing the amount of energy ? first machine has priority on others ? The general idea i want to understand is, is better create a power dedicated production zone and then connect to others machines or is better create multiple connection to maximize the energy sharing. This problem is also connect about how it's better connect the base with batteries
I've created an energy farm linked to my hub, then out to all machines on a splitter. So far it seems the power automatically distributes as needed, but when I run all machines it also spreads the power evenly. I also created a small battery bank that is connected at the machines. It kicks on when more juice is needed, then auto replenishes when machines are not in use. I use wind and solar as the main source.
Thanks for the helpful tips
Thanks for watching!
You could say. This was a very Powerfull guide
Thank you for watching!
A BOWERFULL Guide (sorry SeeReax memes)
Does anybody know if you put multiple research station active at any planet and then travel back to another planet that it will continue “researching” it?
Actually there are different wind speeds in the game and when you have it making that clicking noise that means that its giving 3 amps of power wich is its max output and it works better on planets with more wind such as Glacio
Thanks for that!
The new automated resource extractor takes 15 power to run.
Ithink its only 8
Ive been playing astroneer for 15+ hours now and only just realised that extra power makes stuff run faster, all my stuff is just connected to my starter base lol I wondered why it was running so slow
Large solar array is putting out 8 amps. Used a splitter for testing.
Nice! Thanks for testing.
Is this peak output, or any exposure to sunlight regardless of angle?
@@brekkoh whenever it gets sunlight.
Need to go into more details
I have a feeling that some machines like Research chamber can be overloaded to work even faster.
I think that is correct, leave the console of the research chamber open while it works, then add a small generator and see the time and bites change. Great programming that you can have things open while still moving stuff around and connecting...
Very informative
Thank you!
i've seen that i could smelt 4 more organic with the power the medium generator made off of one carbon 5:50 (it was pre 1.0 though)
Interesting. Thanks for the information!
Tanks you man 😀
Tanks for watching!
Wait a minute, the thing that shows you the power right next to the cable (I am talking about a platform) reads it differently. Because, a RTG gives you 5, not less than four. This is confusing.
Such a POWERFUL guide
:) Thank you!
Does putting wind turbines on hills (for exmaple) provide an increase in wind due to the height of its location or am I thinking to much?
Sadly, no.
too bad that those small and medium batteries are all used at the same time if you have multiple on your base. Can't they just be drained one at a time? Like, when one of them empties, then the other one kicks in and so forth? That would be nice. But other than that, this was a very helpful video on power! Thanks for this!
I set my up on a large platform C with large storage as a bank. It kicks on and drains 1 at a time. Replenishes automatically.
legend
I liked and subscribed lol
Now the question is.. does it automatically turn things on and off when the powers to low? (Auto extractor plus batteries system example)
The cables turn red when the power is depleted whereas yellow when powered.
Can my base make 4U of power instead of just 2? It has 4U slots
Do you know anything about how base AI distributes power between different consumers? Like how it prioritises between filling batteries and running research chambers.
The priority list is as follows:
Filling the player's battery
Running machines
Filling batteries on the station
Thanks for the tip!
The solar array power is 8, not four. You can easily find out the power by using a splitter. (Open up the window for the splitter then it will show you the input power.)
Or just hover over the item and read it’s description
Maybe you’ll know the answer to this and maybe not. I built a decent sized farm of medium solar panels, medium wind turbines and a few solar arrays and wired it to my base. It’s pretty extreme (and I mostly did it for aesthetic purposes) but is it actually worth burning the resources to make a power farm like that?
Hehe, that might be overkill, but I'm sure it looks great!
It's also better to not spend bytes on the medium solar and wind, just fill a medium storage with 8 of them for 4 Units of power (twice the power in one tier 2 slot)
That is totally true, but so ugly to look at. :)
@@OneLastMidnight But it's also fun to watch 8 solar panels aim at the sun at once
Didn't mention extenders; are they pretty much straightforward? Just basically a long power cord?
Extenders are covered in Power Distribution - czcams.com/video/6ih1K5-UKGY/video.html.
This video I would recommend
Thanks for watching!
good guild, really like the tips, but I think you will probably want to update this.
wind turbines are made with ceramic not glass anymore
But!
Are 8 small batteries on a medium stotage better in storeing power
than
A medium batterie
?
It used to in the early access version of the game idk 'NOW' if it does
Well they might be better but that is 8 times as expensive
Yes they are better if you can find a good amount of Lithium. My base is pretty much only running on those haha.
Get tip!
Energy stored is equal, but more amps on 8x small than 1x medium. and ofc the cost.. If you want your battery to last, as in not drain too fast when you are low on power then go for medium. for high amps, thought they will drain faster, if the power demand is there, go small.
Needs more subs
Is there a way for unlimited power or is there a way to have such a great amount of power, that research is super super fast instead of 20 mins
Unlimited power for sure - RTG. But each research item has a set time even at max power; no way around that. You could however go to a planet where you get much more bytes for your 20 minutes - Glacio or Atrox.
What about power distribution?
Now, that would have been nice to cover! Next time! :)
The "RGT" power supply is the only good one. Too bad you can't access and build it earlier in the game.
Can someone explain to me wasn't this game out before you can get unlimited power from a satellite
Yes, but it was a defect, and not intentional.
Anyone know how to quickly place extenders? It's annoying to have to pull them out every time.
Place them in your alt. slots and use the alt. keys to deploy.
I’m sorry but I’m an idiot. I have no idea what that means ._.
Pro tip #2 - czcams.com/video/RAaLofK7h8E/video.html
Just curious if anyone knows the solution to this but my research chamber is stuck on 74 Bytes per minute even when given much more power
Sorry, not I.
That's its maximum, at least for that particular research/type of research. If you want more bytes per minute (either for the achievement or to rush research) you'll need more than 1 research lab, or more byte-dense research material (such as astronium or the minerals on the tundra planet).
I run 3 research chambers and i get 199 per minute on good power.. I believe thats max
I love this game this is the land equivalent to Subnautica
Glad you are enjoying Astroneer.
Been playing on my PS4 Pro was on a long stream for about 6 hours of building and exploring my save got Corrupted lost everything I’m so mad right now
You should report that to System Era. Since PS4 is a new platform for them it might be a defect.
5:40 I used the stones to destroy the stones
Doesn't paper destroy rocks? :)
A really weird thing in astroneer is that its cheaper to build a shelter (wich is inclued with a RTG when builded) than building a RTG...
You mean an RTG, right? The RTG on the shelter only produces 1 U/s of power, where the full RTG produces 4 U/s of power. But... I hear ya.
@@OneLastMidnight oh yeah, its RTG,this is just because i play the french version and that in french RTG is GTR.
You should update it to fit with the latest update
The power line connections are quirky to place. I had to place the stack down an unpack... !?
Apperently you can place extenders automatically from your aux slots - have to test this
@@eri5 yes, put it on your sholder and first dragg out the 'hoze' or what it's called, then press C or V to attach the thing from your sholder. but by now you prob allready know this LOL ;-)
Any idea how much power the field shelter makes?
I just unlocked it an built it yesterday.
I think it provides 1/2 of the full shelter power, and the full shelter only provides 1 Unit/s.
Im asking this as a new astroneer player, just started playing a week ago. If anyone answers this, what power source do yall use and feel is more efficient
RTG, but that is later game. Solar where there is sun, and wind where there is wind. Everyone planet/moon is different, and there is no right answer. RTG is universal.
Hi, learn the recipes, it seems tricky at first but gets way easier... step one is 'how do I make windvane or solar'. Copper is in the mountains (a drill made of clay makes this easier) and quartz smelted makes glass and makes a windvane. Also when running or driving on the surface, you can find extra windvanes or solar to help you out... Sun is up half the time of the day, wind just comes and goes, be creative in placing your windvanes around... Hope this helps a bit...
If you do get later in the game I find that a rtg on a large platform with a medium battery works really well.
How would I charge my medium battery
Same as the small one but on a 2slot/tier2 port (2 dots connected with a line)
how much item each power takes 7:55
on your research chamber, what is the 2 platforms sticking out of it?
It's a medium storage. Usually the platform the res chamber was in would only have slots for 4 small items on it, 2 on each side. But you can put a medium storage that occupies two small slots, but will give you 8 slots to store small items in.
@@droopsmoop Thats not exactly how a medium storage looks like to me. im talking about the platform he is putting the generators or/fans on.
@@makani18 Oh are you talking about the platform the res chamber is in? That's a new platform called a Medium Platform B. It has a 4 slot space in the middle used for bigger stuff like the res chamber, and it has two 2 slot spaces on the side.

Do you have a video on the repackager?
Great idea!
you prob have figured it out allready, the packager 'sticks' to almost anything, then hover your mouse over it and see how to activate it. Good for moving your stuff to another place.. example don't unpack the oxiginator untill you are at another planet, saves alot of space... ;-)
One last mid: ''if you have a large base you'll need 2 maybe 3 RTG's''
-Me : Laughing in 10 RTG's base with a total of 200units power per sec and still being just the bare minimum.
LOL... Look at the date of the video. Back in the day...
5:57 I use the power to get the power
Is the north pole still usefull for endless sunshine in 1.0?
I haven't tested it yet, but it should be the same.
It's the south pole you're thinking of
It seems variable on usefulness - the gateway on the north pole (at least on my planet) is far enough in the air that solar panels don't work unless lowered past the edge, and the high mountain terrain makes certain times of the day useless for power from the shadows.
Good
You forgot the large trashed solar panel
