Same the duck has charm & mystique about him Psyduck is loveable I appreciate him more as an adult now he's slow to anger but when he powers 🔋 up his strength is amazing

Psyduck may have been rather high-maintenance at first but it's evident that high-maintenance doesn't mean impossible.
Also, the fact that Misty didn't abandon Psyduck despite having multiple chances to do so and being driven nuts by him numerous times shows how good of a trainer and Gym Leader she is. Paul could certainly learn a couple of lessons from her.

When I was a child, I thought that Psyduck was annoying. As an adult now, he's one of my favorites along with Totodile and Squirtle.

Mistys Psyduck is the sole reason I keep forgetting that it and Golduck aren't actually psychic types in the games. Spent so much time as a kid trying to get one, just because I thought a water/psycic duck was cool as heck. Maybe a regional form could fix this in the future

I could be remembering wrong but in general 3 and older, the ducks couldn't learn psychic via TM
@@williamcothrum9199 I'm pretty sure that was originally the case, instead they for some reason opted to have it get access to psychic as an egg move. In all honesty, I don't really understand why Psyduck and Golduck (or at least just the latter, I suppose) aren't part psychic type

To me, Psyduck was one of the best comic reliefs in pokemon ever. I actually thought he was better than pikachu because he gave more personality and laughs to the original seasons of pokemon, that I think he was the real reason pokemon was good to begin with, not pikachu. If Misty had trained him more and taught him calm mind before anything else, he might have been able to use his psychic attacks without getting a headache, and could have defeated pikachu with ease, proving he's better and more powerful than ash's pikachu to this day.
If only Rory! It's definitley one of the funniest. Corphish might be my fav :)

I've been waiting for this one. I wasn't a fan of how mean Misty was to Psyduck earlier on but seeing how much she cared for Psyduck in Sun and Moon really made me happy.
Psyduck deserves more credit honestly. It was able to ignore Poochyena's immunity to psychic attacks.
Me too. Nice to see her being much more passive toward him. Sure he's pretty dopey but he doesn't need to be hit or aggressively yelled at.

Back when I played pokemon yellow, Psyduck was my 1st pokemon to reach to Lv 100 and never evolved it. After that, I ranked up Gyarados, Tentacruel, Starmie, Cloyster and Vaporeon. Thanks to Misty, I became a water pokemon trainer and a big fan of water pokemon.

Ngl, I never watched Sun and Moon due to it changing stations to Disney and my slow transition to watching less regular tv these past few years, but it’s awesome to learn that it showed that Psyduck became a more competent battler. I always loved that troublesome duck!

@@ProfessorAlexSilver Got the idea from a fanfic - soon after application, it redeveloped Psyduck's mindscape, allowing him to "distance" most of the head-throbbing energy until he needed it for a Psychic attack, and using the rest of it to speak telepathically.
Then Misty brought up swimming lessons.

It'd be funny if it did evolve into Golduck and somehow became even dopier despite it's cooler appearance. xD

@@ProfessorAlexSilver I used to have to do that in school, kept nearly drowning. Though I did recognition as the "most improved student" even though I was still the worst swimmer in the class. I went from nearly drowning in the shallow end to swim back and forth somewhat slowly but at least not drowning. xD

My very first Shiny was a Blue Psyduck in Pokemon Gold!
Psyduck was always the example of trainers having to actually train their Pokemon. If Misty gave it a fraction of the love she gave Togepi (who should be next on your list), maybe it would have evolved into Golduck! Never knew why it wasn't Water/Psychic!

I've always found it strange that Psyduck and Golduck who specialize in using psychic attacks are water-type pokemon and not psychic type or dual water and psychic. Then you have a pokemon like Starmie that has 0 damaging psychic attacks but is a dual water psychic type. Starmie should have already been changed into the fairy type while Psyduck and Golduck changed into the psychic type.

Same here :) I've been meaning to tackle Psyduck forever
Psyduck was always me and my sisters favorite. Ash and Brock didn't have any comic relief Pokemon (sometime Pikachu's voice acting was hilarious though), and I'm glad high strung Misty was the one to 'train' him. The Cloyster battle will always be my favorite because the tail whip is so ridiculous - but it always bums me out that we didn't get to see Psyduck finish off the Cloyster.
To this day, still makes me laugh. And I fully plan on getting a psyduck tattoo one day (alongside Meatwad) to just give me a chuckle whenever stuff gets heavy.

I think it's funny that Misty would get readily annoyed when her Psyduck released itself from its PokéBall, often for the running gag of falling into the water, unable to swim....only to see her coddle it in Sun & Moon like Ash's Mom does to her Mr. Mime.
Definitely shows some growth on her part :)

-never misses a moment to remind her duck and everyone else around how much she despises it
-tried to abandon it at a breeding center and even hoped the Farfetch'd thief stole it during the episode where all of her other Pokemon were stolen
-treats her duck like trash while loves on her other Pokemon
-encourages opponents to strike its head and even threatens to smash it with a bicycle to unlock its true powers

Paul:
-constantly put his Chimchar into tough battles and training sessions in order to unlock its true power (via Blaze)
-doesn't shy away from criticizing his Pokemon for making mistakes in battle/training
-releases Pokemon he deems weak, disappointments or doesn't meet his high standards...better to let them go instead of holding onto them only to have them endure even more 'abuse'
-Treats ALL of his Pokemon the same even though outside perspectives felt he treated the little fire chimp worse than his other Pokemon
Most fans call him a heartless trainer, horrible person and Pokemon abuser...

I like your little savage moment and your comparison of Misty to Homer Simpson, I can imagine Misty going at the poor guys throat. Psyduck just tried to help in any way that it can, it’s not like you catch a Pokémon and you quickly forget about it, that’d basically be classified as abandonment.

Psyduck is my all time favorite Pokémon - because of the anime. As a kid and as an adult I find him hilarious. I was always so nervous they would evolve him - so happy they never did! Amazing comedic relief at the right times - love that little guy!

You bring up an interesting point and comparison between Psyduck and Lotad. If Misty had journeyed with Ash to Hoenn instead of Brock and met Lotad, I wonder if he would have gotten the same treatment as Psyduck did. One thing to note about Misty is that she's not the most patient person. I get the feeling that she had ended up with Brock's Lotad and managed to evolve it all the way to Ludicolo, she would still get annoyed with its happy-go-lucky persona, just like when her Poliwirl evolved to Politoad
Ludicolo and Politoed would make for an interesting duo

Honestly, I would love to see Misty return for a few episodes. And maybe Psyduck can evolve into Golduck. Psyduck will see her in danger and evolve!! One can wish! Amazing work here Dr Silver.

Psyduck is my number one favorite pokemon! I remember watching the show as a kid and being so upset at how Misty always treated it.

I say that Misty should catch a new Psyduck and have it evolve into Golduck. With both Psyduck and Golduck, she goes around the world on her own battling a bunch of trainers Ash battled in order to become the worlds best Water Pokemon trainer.

Psyduck staring at a quagsire is probably the best fight we ever had in Pokemon
I loved Psyduck but I hated how Misty treated it. She was always so angry at it (some of that anger not being warranted) only liked when it benefitted her and had multiple chances to let it go if it was so unreliable to her but chose not to and leave it in this love hate relationship.
Okay so hear me out on this, I got this idea from a CZcamsr and thought it was interesting. What if Psyduck actually evolved into Golduck in that one episode? It became much more powerful and capable but also smarter. Misty loved this change but Golduck thinks about their relationship and how problematic it could be at times. This could lead him to not really listen to Misty anymore doing it's own thing like lounging, basically becoming like Charizard. Misty would be infuriated by this and they would frequently bicker with each other. But in time they would realize the faults both of them made and form a stronger bond because of it. Those are just rough ideas I had that I think would've been interesting to see.
Overall I still love Psyduck and it's most recent appearance in Sun and Moon with how mellowed out Misty is about it. I just thought I'd throw an idea I heard out there.
