Diana told me real reason her marriage to Charles failed just before she died - it wasn't Camilla

  • DIANA revealed the real reason her marriage with Charles ended shortly before death, says a royal expert.
Royal author Ingrid Seward spoke on The Sun's Royal Exclusives Show about a conversation she had with the late princess before she died.
The royal expert told The Sun's Royal Editor, Matt Wilkinson, Camilla was not the reason their marriage broke down despite the stories.
"She had this spectre of Camilla in her head the whole time, she was obsessed, yet when I last spoke to her I brought Camilla up, and she said 'oh it wasn't Camilla that ruined our marriage'," said Ingrid.
"She said, 'it was the people around my husband', and I thought to myself 'it wasn't Camilla? You've been complaining and complaining about her all these years'."
The author continued: "But she changed tact, and said it was the environment in which keeping a royal marriage together, you've got to be very strong, and probably far more mature than she was."
When asked about Queen Camilla stepping up for King Charles since his cancer diagnosis, Ingrid hailed her for taking on extra duties.
"She led them into King Constantine's memorial service, but it was different on Easter Sunday and people really respect her," said the expert.
"She was 50 when she got into this family and now she's 76. Unless you're born into it, it's quite hard, the Windsors have massive energy.
"Charles as a young man used to run everywhere, Prince Philip would run everywhere.
"Camilla doesn't have that kind of energy, and it really takes it out of her and I think a lot of people have a lot of respect for her."

Interesting... I do. At first, though, I thought she was going to name the nanny. Do you remember when Diana made that loud comment at some gathering about 'sorry about losing the baby', referring to an alleged abortion that the nanny was supposed to have had? Diana was no saint. She vied for the attention, and was too immature to understand her role in that marriage, which was to support her husband, the future monarch. She failed at that miserably. She also lied to Charles about 'loving country life', which she actually hated. Had she been honest, I doubt he would have married her, despite the pressure from his grandmother and hers.

There is also another overlooked facet why Prince William and Princess Catherine might get along so well: They were study-buddies. University-friendships are generally very strong and last often for a life-time. People, who fall in love with fellow-students in that time period, always have a baseline of seeing one another as equals. There are similarities in minds and values. Catherine was not just a princess coming in from a country estate or a fox-hunt gathering. William and Catherine shared formative experiences together in their Alma Mater, surrounded by equally like-minded friends.

The rules for royalty prevented Charles and Camilla from marrying initially, and that was just wrong. Charles never should have married Diana. She should have been a woman who found the right kind of man for her and she'd most likely be alive today and happy. She was too young to decide whom to marry.

@@Brembelia I don't think this was an "arranged marriage" I think this was a deranged marriage! Much like "lady" Diana herself!! She had been dreaming about marrying Charles since her childhood according to her family and friends. She meets Charles again after growing up around him a bit. They date a few times and are engaged when she is 19 but barely know each other however according to society Diana is an adult. Where was the public out-cry back then? At 20 they are married. By 21 she is a mother and yet shows no signs of "joining in" with the royal family but isn't this what Diana wanted? Diana just wanted to do things her own way. There is no I in team work. As her behavior becomes more than erratic Charles tries to help and so does the queen who so often reaches out. Diana does not want to have therapy. Yet she gave speeches about mental health. Charles turns to his friend Camilla for advice and those old feelings start to resurface. Diana turns on everyone including her own mother and family and staff and newcomers such as Sophie and friends. I honestly think Charles needed more help than the disturbed Diana. Diana wanted more attention and revenge and pity. When her and Andrew Morton wrote a book about Charles everything went south! What husband could trust his own wife who is plotting against him? Diana admitted to cheating first but at this point Diana had lost Charles. Married boyfriends coming back to Kensington Palace didn't help much and constantly going after the variety of men was more than Diana just being "lonely". She was never shy Di - she was Sly Di and vulgar... Go! Just go!

Charles didn’t need to promote himself, he was, before Lady Diana decided on an ARRANGED MARRIAGE with him, deeply popular and much loved! He was our heartthrob, crowds were at all his events, he was the one we wanted to see!!
Diana was clearly deeply needy (her mother upped and left with her lover to go live in Australia when Diana was Five years old, and apparently Diana never got over it (who would)!
It was Diana who hogged the lime light, who didn’t support her husband, who didn’t respect that HE was the royal not her!! I hated watching her behaviour taking the lime light, and yes she was loved, but she promoted and expected that.
Watching Camilla and Catherine (and Prince Philip) you see how they promoted, honoured and respected their Royal spouse (Camilla and Catherine still do of course). Each one not making it about them but about their Royal spouse and about the event!!
But Diana always made any event about her! She needed the adoration, and her side eyes wasn’t imo shyness, it was in her case slyness!
I saw through her from the beginning.
Charles looked shell shocked most of the time with Diana yards and more away from him gathering the crowds around her in walk abouts. Making it about her! Imagine seeing Meghan doing that as she would of course, just like Diana!
The exhibition she made of herself in India sitting alone like the poor little victim, side eyes, crying, sad!! Well she was at the time also engaged in numerous affairs!! Some with married men! Some she declared she adored!!
What a manipulator!! And there was Charles trying to get on with his official duties on that official visit to India, and the very reason they were there!!!
But Diana made it all about her, as usual! Diana promoting herself as usual rather than the Monarchy!!!
And all that also affected those boys of hers, she never thought of that, she never stopped to think how will this affect our boys in the future!
I was sad she died though, no one would wish that.

Diana NEVER loved Charles and vice versa. It was an arranged marriage. The DIVORCE was good for both of them BUT just like other famous rich people there are limited numbers of eligible rich people to meet. It was a shame that Diana died in Paris but not with the one she was thinking of. Harry REFUSED to speak to Diana that evening and that TANTRUM of Spoilt Brat was not fair. Harry blames everyone except himself but HE gave the last impression to Diana that he didn't like her. THAT IS WHY HARRY IS SO OBSESSED = GUILT!

Nobody knows what goes on in a marriage. Charles and Diana were a mismatch from the start. However, I will say this: King Charles has done immense good works through the Prince's Trust and his environmental endeavors etc. and Princess Diana changed the worldwide perception towards AIDS patients (our modern day lepers if you think about it) LITERALLY overnight. She also had the guts to take on the landmine issue, and that was a decision fraught with risk and even death threats towards her. Thus, they are/were each remarkable people in their own way, and I prefer to think of them way rather than dwell on any human failings, which we all have, or what the reasons were behind their divorce.

The contrast between Meghan's behavior and Camilla's made me see how well Camilla has behaved over the years, how she endured a lot of the bad press while never fighting back, never speaking out against Diana or against the royal family. I have now come to realize that Diana and Charles were simply wrong and incompatible with one another and in the long run, it is and was better for Charles to be with Camilla, with someone he loves and who loves him.

When you're an emotionally needy person because of your upbringing, you need someone who comes from a balanced and loving family to help you get through life. Two needy people rarely succeed together in relationship - unless their needs and strengths really complement each other. But that is so rare, and it's nobody's fault. It really takes a strong person helping the other, who they hopefully really love. But it must get very tiring for the strong one.

"It was an arranged marriage between two very prominent houses: the Spencers and the Windsors. The Spencer ancestral line boasts more blue-blood heritage than the RF. Diana, being naive, truly believed that Charles loved her as she loved him. The significant age difference played a major role. Camilla, being Charles's contemporary and within his social circle, though not as aristocratic as Diana, shared more commonalities with him. Diana came to realize this after the divorce. There were photographs capturing their meetings and warm greetings with kisses. While Diana and Charles both exhibited spite during their marriage, Diana matured and came to understand their incompatibility (despite Charles inferiority/jealousy complex with her persona with the public). William acknowledges this, but Harry, sheltered from their arguments and petty conflicts, relies on advice from his therapist and Meghan. William harbors love for his father and appreciates Camilla for making him happy. Harry just wants to bring up bad memories that he thinks happened & wants to punish his father - even though said father loves him & raised him to be the person he was before Meghan came on the scene."

Diana had the first affair in the marriage (with her groom if I remember rightly). That’s when Charles realised the marriage was over and reunited with his soulmate Camilla. Diana also broke up several couples by being the “third person” in other relationships while Charles married his ap and has remained faithful to her. It’s obvious how happy they are together.

@@glen7318 OMG, tell that to the women who cited her on their divorce petitions - and the women who weren’t married to their partners but were committed to them nonetheless. This is documented so I suggest you actually do a little bit of research to find out the truth, or alternatively you could just refute the facts and make a fool of yourself. Idc either way, but don’t tell people who actually have taken the time to find out the facts that they’re lying when you haven’t a clue. Btw even Dodi was engaged before Di.
