Ah the TIE Defender! When TIE Fighter first came out on PC back in '94 I picked it up. I love the Imperials and thought it was awesome. First mission with the Starwing, I thought this is the Apex, then you got to get in The Defender. That ship was insane! No Rebel fighters were a threat, Corvettes, Nebulon-B's you could solo, big MonCal's were no longer intimating. I played that game for literally a 1000 hours because of The Defender. First ship I got for X-Wing, even before I got the Core Set. I now have two and the Imperial Veterans pack. So glad I can play Me, Marek Stele, from TIE Fighter in a TIE/D
When you mention nerfs, could you add a brief explanation of the changes for those who are new to (or are thinking about joining) the game just to give them an idea of how subtle changes effect different ships? Just a suggestion. Thanks! Also, I would be negligent if I didn't mention that these are great videos to give new players a taste of the nuances between ships.
The Defender nerf basically toned down the X/7 title, the pre-nerf versin gave you an evade token if the ship did high speed moves, the revised version requires you to not crash into other ships or obstacles to get the token, it also changed to a 'free action' rather than getting the evade, meaning if you had anything stopping you from taking actions, usually stress, you couldn't get the token, it dialled down the power a bit but is still good with decent flying
I have a few here - www.crabbok.com/squad-lists/x-wing-squads/ but you can try a Han Shoots First type list with a Falcon and some X-Wings for classic list.
Thank you for these videos! My son and I just got into X Wing and I get destroyed as the Imperials! I was really looking forward to this video! I think I might switch to Scum though. Lol
Jonathan Bridges /x7 Defenders (I assume 3 of those in a triple Defender list) are really bad against bombs, and unfortunately bombers are everywhere in tournament play now. I still like them - I even included /x7 Countess Ryad in the list I took to Nationals recently - but I wouldn't recommend 3 of them together anymore because they lack tools to deal with threats they're weak against.
Dasharr that is what my son uses but when I run Triple defenders I run them with Tie/d and ion cannons. It's hard to put bombs where you want when you're ionized and getting shot at six times. Once for ion cannon and a second time natively x3.
Did you see the 18-11 video? I spoke at length about why I ranked the Tie Adv Prototype in it's particular position... I know alot of people love it, but I have a personal vendetta against that ship so I had to score it very low..... very low indeed. Totally my own bias though.
TIE Phantom is the BEST Ship in the GAME.. Use Echo as a pilot + veteran insticts, advanced cloakcking device + recon specialist + fire controll system = the best killing machine in the space.
Definitely agree with number 1. Defender is my favorite Imperial ship.

I'm having lots of success running 2 Tie Advanced Tempest Squadron pilots with Cluster Missiles, with Brath or Jonus and something else to fill space.
I'm just gettin back where do I need to go for the latest news and is x wing still fun or dieing out before I spend cash
i love the tie defender but its just to damned expensive for how quickly it can be tlt i am keen to see how she will do with the ept intensity
Good list. Not a fan of the striker but I haven’t flown it much so maybe it’ll grow on me. Absolutely love the SF and Defender as well.
Sarge Large I’ve heard that about the Striker from quite a few people. Get to know the ship and you’ll like it for sure if maneuvering is your thing.

How are ships nerfed? Where do I find any updates to the rules?
I have an errata section on www.crabbok.com that should show you some of the nerfs, such as the new way Palpatine is worded, etc.

Not super survivable....anything with 3 agl and a focus is pretty bloody survivable.
Another great video. But seriously the aggressor shouldn’t be anywhere near the top 5. It’s just not a good ship.
Grey Warden I don’t think it’s amazing but it’s not a bad ship. Its biggest hit is probably not coming out at a good time.
