at 9:04 she just disproved her own point by agreeing that men and women are both giving up on dating. So, now it's not about what people actually do? People aren't getting married and they are reporting lower levels of relationship satisfaction. This is directly tied to them not getting what they SAY they want.

They are mistaking the "downward pressure" of demographics in opposition to hypergamy and thinking that non-observation of hypergamic outcomes somehow disproves the reality of hypergamy. That is, the lack of sufficient numbers of "superior" men constrains the ability to observe the expression of it. Given sufficient numbers of such men, then it WOULD be observed. But the demographic reality is that on average one is going to have to choose one of more on the one's own level. It's not thats she wouldn't prefer one higher up, it's thats one of isn't available because he is taken by a woman higher up than she.
An illustration is, just because a plane is not falling out of the sky, that doesn't disprove the reality of gravity. It's that gravity and lift are in balanced opposition. That women end up with near equals is on account of hypergamy and demographics in balanced opposition, not because hypergamy doesn't exist.
