    Hey Tomley nice run dude the cars looking sweet! But the weather is absolutely hammering you/us,I'd put her away for better days. Thanks for that awsome! shoutout hugely appreciated mate erm I dont think i need to tell you what to do. I agree with you and (Driftomainics) get the front down with droop screws she'll fly!

      No worries mate. I've watched a fair few of your videos.... I'm just shit at commenting as I have stuff on while working. You'd be surprised at how many people will want to know all the in and outs of setting them up :) Keep doing content mate...it's massively helpful. Droop screws were in, I think the main issue was the little hump in the road. I have a nice smooth area to use once the weather picks up! Hopefully by the summer we'll all have laid down some decent speed!

      @@TomleyRC I think alot wrench and watch at the same time, i know I do, it makes sense. I forget to comment aswell,while your reading this, "I finally concede to the quality of plastic" but these cars have a huge place now in my opinion. You'll smash that 100mph barrier, I'm listening to it back with headphones. Check your drive shaft and diff mesh. See if it's too tight, wierd whining noise coming through. Any way
      Thanks again and I'll keep it coming Tomley much appreciated.

      @@mehimrc1314 The Centre shaft suffers some vibration at high rpm's.... a bit like the rear shaft issue on the Infraction/Limitless. I stuck a new one in as I bent the first one slightly at the skate park... first run with the brushless I thought it was gonna shake itself to bits lol. You can hear it on Richies video as well. Diffs are all good, removed them and greased and set up before taking it out. Looking forward to cracking that 100 barrier!

    That wing is killing you, in fact, breaking it probably would have helped your speed, if you hadn't replaced it. It's out way past the back wheels, meaning as you get speed, and the air puts leverage on it, it LIFTS the front of the car. You don't need downforce at the rear, you're not trying to corner at high speeds. It's just wasted drag. A fin-eqsue structure near the back might help with straight line stability; both because if its shape and the fact that it moves the center-of-drag back significantly. (like you need to on planes or rockets) Some people have hit 100 with the stock wing, but as far as I know, there's no advantage to it. (other than moving the center-of-drag back, but there's better ways to do that, if it's needed at all)
    A couple other things:
    Use negative rake! F1 uses it, so should you :) The front needs to be lower than the back, this will create more downforce than that little wing, (with less drag too) and increase stability. Someone else showed that there are holes for grubs screws on the suspension to pre-load it, thereby lowering the suspension. If you did lower it, it's not enough. You have to remember that when accelerating, the car is going to squat HARD. And at speed, the wing is pushing really hard on the rear suspension, and there's no aero at the front to even it out. So by the time you're at 50mph, it's probably higher in the front than the back again.
    That body... is not exactly aero dynamic either. Not 100% sure exactly how much of a difference it makes, but remember that drag is a function of the SQUARE of you speed. The faster you go, the more every bit of drag matters! Considering the front is as brick-like as it can get, I'm guessing it's having a pretty huge impact. That body increases the cross-sectional area by at least double, if not more, not to mention the back looking about as aerodynamic as a pickup truck, lol. It may look good and make it easy to fit stuff under, but the faster you go, the higher percentage of your power you use JUST to fight the air resistance.
    The biggest thing is probably that pavement though. The aggregate (rocks) in the asphalt are half as big as the tires are wide, and the tar between them has worn down so much that you're only making contact with the tops of those pebbles, which are nether flat nor smooth. Imagine driving over that if it was all scaled up, it'd destroy your car, lol. Plus those cracks are looking like half an inch or more deep. Scaled up it's like driving over a drainage ditch... You can't get up speed if your suspension can't keep contact with the ground. Even if it were dry the size of the contact patch is, at BEST, going to be the size of ONE of those pebbles. It needs more traction, and I don't think just waiting for it to dry is going to cut it.
    For this, you really have to keep the scale in mind. Every crack is like a 3-foot wide pot-hole. Every 'bump' you see is a hill to the car, not a bump. The pebbles in the concrete are like hitting a 6 inch tall rock. If the car was bigger (especially the tires) they'd have an easier time dealing with the bumps (the same way you want big wheels on an off-road motorcycle). Usually bigger tires means slower, but on this particular surface, its probably the other way around. Either way, switching to a smoother street would be a huge advantage. There's a reason people running crazy fast 150mph+ rc cars do it on brand new pavement.

    6:15 I was thinking it might be the cold, when I was in NJ my lipo run time on my RC's was literally halved in sub-zero temps. Did you do the droop screw mod to lower the front? That will help keep the nose down. 9:30 looked faster than earlier passes as well. Thanks for the shout out! I agree with your comments at the end and that's why I've not gone and put a TP motor in and a huge esc as I think with this car it responds very well to being kept light. I think with what your proposing it should go over 100, I am thinking that 0 deg temp didn't help today. Stay safe

    • @TomleyRC
      @TomleyRC  Před 3 lety +1

      Yes, coldest I’ve run at. The road I was going to use was sheet ice. So this was the next best thing. Going to wait until we are in double digits for temp and then run again. One of the last runs seemed quicker... but the GPS stayed on 66, maybe a glitch. Anyway, it’s good fun with these as more people can get involved because of the relatively low price compared to what the big boys are running! Easy to break 60-70mph on a budget. Droop screws were in, a arms level with the driveshafts and stiff springs on the back. Maybe a touch lower needed. Looking forward to what we can all achieve!

    Awesome video tho bummer weather was too cold to cooperate. To keep that rc stable,you should add/make a front splitter and possibly a rear diffuser being is already has a flat underbelly as that should definitely keep that thing stable at high speeds. If possible try to lower it and play with the spring rate and make them slightly stiffer as that should also help. Looking forward to seeing this thing go faster,lol

How do they manage to hold up? The LC Racing truggy might be a nice one to do speed runs on right out of the box. It already comes with a nice brushless set up.
