*REUPLOAD* this was blocked a while back, but I added some overlays to bring this masterpiece back! Hope you enjoy
I would consider reacting to falling away from me next it's the follow up music video to this song its also from KoRn
@@Miserymoron yeah the videos blend together!
Korn was around way before LP, they were at the forefront of the numetal movement fs. But dude fieldys bass sound is part of their signature sound. I remember a long time ago when they got a lot of boomer hate for that lol
My suggestion for more korn is "somebody someone"
Review seasons in the abyss by Slayer 😂
Korn just created their own sound and screamed about sensitive subjects, all without stopping to ask people if it was okay. They are the definition of pioneers.
Family values
Oh and meth, a lot of meth.
That break down brings the song Trash to mind
Dead bodies everywhere
Daddy
Clown
Korn is 75% mr bungle.
The drop after 'GO!' still gets my old ass up and moving! Even with my bad back and bad knees. I'll never forget witnessing Korn's first big live tour. Following them around the country. 6 19 year olds in a van travelling around, being free, jamming to Korn, meeting new people. Man what a time to be alive when Nu Metal came about and the metal scene was huge! Machine Head is another band you should look into.
Have you seen the video on CZcams of the little girl singing this?! It fkn rocks!
If you like that you should listen to Madder Mortem: "The Riddle Wants To Be" and "Jigsaw"
Yea I told my dad about that and he said Korn is lame I was baffled
At a concert in Oslo Spectrum in 2008 they faked a power outage right before the "go". They waited probably 5 seconds in absolute darkness before they suddenly screamed go! The moshpit was confused, but it was so awesome. Have anyone else experienced this?
Man I wish I could have experienced that! Sounds amazing
So this kind of an unusual Korn memory, but when I was pregnant and my baby wasn't active I would play Somebody Someone on my way home from work. Halfway through the song he would be moving all over the place. Gave me peace of mind and many years later he still loves Korn and now plays bass like his mom.
Hahaha that’s awesome! And for me even more awesome cause I think Somebody Someone is my favorite Korn song
That's my favorite Korn Song. Kid got great taste 😂
That "dog barking" is called scatting. Scat singing is vocal improvisation with wordless vocables, nonsense syllables or without words at all. The singer improvises melodies and rhythms using the voice as an instrument rather than a speaking medium. That is mostly well-known in jazz music
All I'm gon say is:
I'M A SCATMAN
@@andreas4959 well done, sir.
Now to put my credentials forward, ....... oh yeah I don’t have any I think it sounds like skat with beatbox in it, but. That’s my unprofessional opinion, mmmmmmmmm. Lol (I don’t mean to make lite of professional opinions)
@aileensenpai I was introduced to scat in the eighties on a TV show called Night Court who had a main character who loved Mel Torme. Here is a vid of Mel doing his thing. czcams.com/video/UBDkhlqhDPM/video.html
@@andreas4959 Ski-bi-dibby-dib yo-da-dub-dub, yo!
KoRn is the reason Linkin Park ever existed. Listen to KoRn's debut album, it is their best work. When it came out in '94, it blew my mind and I still love it to this day.
Freak on a Leash was the overall best album.
Though Blind is better than any song on that album. As is the song with the bagpipes.
Lincoln Park is the chicks version of Korn.
@@td315 so edgy
Are you readyyyyyy!
I cringed when she said that 😂 but she doesn’t know
My dad got me into Korn before he had passed away so this band has a special place in my heart ❤️ keep up the Korn reactions 🔥 🤘
Same here korn saved my life after I lost my mom
I’m so sorry for your loss. Korn was a big part of my childhood so I know your father was a wonderful man
If you are just getting into Korn, you are in for a treat. One of the best bands in the world at what they do. No one else sounds like they do.
“It’s like he was going feral on us.” Lifelong Korn fan here, and that quote gave me chills.
That breakdown still goes hard over twenty years later.
Great reaction Aileen! Korn came out in the early to mid '90's, they opened the doors for a lot of bands like Linkin Park and many others. If you want to see some more, check out Blind, Got the Life, Falling Away From me, even their newer stuff is awesome. 🤘
Yeah,I mentioned in a comment I saw them in 1994 when I went to see White Zombie and I had never heard of them. Eventually I ended up liking them more than White Zombie.
@@garyclark9618 Yeah, I was supposed to go see them along with Faith No More and SOAD back in 2020, but that never happened, that would have been the show of a lifetime.
@@jamesm5883 Hell yeah,I like several songs by Faith no more. I haven't heard much from SOAD,just whatever has been played on the radio. Unfortunately,I've only been to three concerts, the one I mentioned,Pantera in 95 and Disturbed Chevelle and Taproot in 03. At least they were all really good concerts. You listen to any industrial? I like Kmfdm a lot.
That break from the Skat singing to the driving guitar blasts hits so hard. Makes you wanna jump outta your chair and start head banging. You just feel a surge of energy explode into you. So very very unique. That's what made the 90s great, everybody was taking chances and just doing their own thing with no F's given. I personally think were gonna start another era like that in a year or two. Seems like every 30 years or so we just get an explosion of honesty and creativity. Happened in the 30s, the 60s, and the 90s.... So here's hoping it happens in the 2020s. 🙂
From the word "GO!".
That's 'the drop'.
Way before Linkin Park.
I mean,it's like every ten years the "popular" music style changes lol
I really hope so 😅
Todd MacFarlane who created Spawn from Image Comics was responsible for this video, he also did the video for Disturbed - Land of Confusion :)
That would be a good song to review as well.
and Pearl Jam - Do the evolution
You forgot to mention.. Follow The Leader album cover art is also by Todd Mcfarlene
@@marlowedragpa7503 You're right, my bad :)
The lead singer of Korn (Jonathan Davis) sang One Step Closer by LP at Chester Bennington ‘s celebration of life. He did it with Mike Shinoda and the rest of the band. Korn and Linkin Park were pretty close. Jonathan also did the One Step Closer remix on Linkin Park’s Reanimation album. Great reaction!!!
Korn did their videos in a sequence. The next song after this one is "Falling Away From Me" and picks up where this video left off. Its also an amazing song, definitely worth a listen.
Another great thing about Korn is they are still touring and amazing to this day. Can't go wrong with seeing them live.
25 years later, the song still hits as hard as it did when first released.
Black is the Soul is an amazing song and its newer. You can see the evolution of there sound but yet they always stay true to there sound. Korn is one of my favorite bands ever. Theyve allowed me to cope and get through a lot of trauma ive experienced throughout my life. Thank you for your channel.
Ya you most Def missed out not having Korn in your life. They are Legendary Rock Icons. Have inspired so many of today's bands not only musically but Stylistically to they are and always have been trendsetters. Both with their sound and fashion statements. One of my all Time Favorite Rock bands. Brings me back to Elementary/middle/High School and running out on the Court and meeting at center court and huddling up and putting out hands in and exploding out right when Jonathan started screaming... Lol So Nostalgic. The older stuff sounds like this but later along in their discography, they have gotten much heavier and darker and they have allowed us fans a peak into who they are over the years. They have some very Deep emotional content from personal experiences in their lives, particularly Jonathan he has had a long tough life and been through so much in his life but that emotion and vulnerability comes shining through in their music and its magical.
“Todays bands”.?! Nothing will ever top the 30 year span of ‘65-‘95 which encloses probably 90+% of the greatest music of all time. Not to mention the greatest era to live in. Music, though, has all but died with the exception of a few talents that found a way. Unfortunately, we somehow live in a hip hop era and a marketing era so everything is focused on the performers and zero focus on the music. Bands are gone because they aren’t marketable compared to a solo performer in this fake & pathetic look at me me me nightmare we live in.
Korn are more Nu metal than rock.
There's a lot of great Korn music, a lot of bad music too though. i.e. All In The Family - Feat Fred Durst. One of the worst songs of all time, strangely featuring on one of the best albums of all time. I don't mean to be completely negative, I spent a solid decade with Korn as my main daily listen, but as a true appreciator of art and music, you should be aware that it's not all sunshine and daisies, basically everything from Issues on-wards was trash.
@@iraford5788 Korn is Korn. They did their own thing while everyone else tried to copy, which then created NU metal.
I never comment but I have to say that Aileen has helped me a whole lot to feel again after a long time healing from traumatic experiences, Aileen seems, even from a video, so receptive and honest with feelings which is showing me how to be in touch with my emotions which ive not had since 2019 until now im in a safe place. Thank you very very much for your content! it's so enjoyable, I love and grew up with these bands you listen to, and on a personal level youre helping me understand how to be ok. You rock! Again thank you im so greatful I found this
you're a beautiful person! Don't you ever forget that! I appreciate your kindness
My favorite band of all time, Jonathan Davis is a vocal unicorn. Other songs by them to check out. Falling away from me, cold, shoots and ladders, kill you, black is the soul, mr. Rodgers and clown. Loved the reaction Aileen. 🤘🥰
Cool,I suggested Clown and Hey Daddy for starters. Any Korn fan is awesome in my book!
@@garyclark9618 appreciate it. 🤘
Great recommendations, I would also add finally free, ball tongue, and tension
@@jordanpatrick3988 thx, ball tongue is amazing
Somebody someone also
This song and this album were responsible for getting me into metal, without it I'd be a much sadder person
I'm glad you commented on the bass. I feel so many people skip over how powerful it is in this song.
KORN was the soundtrack to my juvenile delinquency as a kid.
The cartoon wasn't really important because they used it, but because of who drew it. Todd McFarlane, creator of Spawn did the album cover and cartoons for the music video. He was a huge inspiration in the comic book artist circle, so having him on board with this album was a nice bonus.
Honestly, KoRn have had it all, art by Todd McFarlane, mic stand by HR Giger, appearance on South Park - They are so fucking cool.
Korn, band second to none 😍
The OG's of nu-metal
Korn has some of the best songs when it comes to feelings.
Thoughtless
Blame
Cold
Idiosyncrasy
Black is the soul
Everything falls apart
Just a few of the songs that got me through each day
Looking at your facial expressions could be enough of a reaction video… I think you get the absolute genius of this song. Every part is perfect, and it contributes perfectly to the sound overall
These guys paved the way for Linkin Park. This song was second single off their 3rd album that came out in spring of 1998.
The "Barking" thing is basically a hybrid of jazz scat signing and beat boxing with a metal foundation. Mike Patton of Faith No More is a massive influence on Johnathan Davis.
Other great KoRn songs to check out:
Blind, Chutes and Ladders, Got The Life, A.D.I.D.A.S., their cover of Ice Cube's Wicked, Coming Undone, and way more than I can think of right now.
Korn were probably the first metal band I heard in my teens and was like "Oh shit, this is for me." And I've loved metal ever since
Your face at the beginning of the "voice and guitar solo" was great!😁
This is one of the best music videos I’ve ever seen. All the kids are gray and dull, blindly following the leader. While she’s the only one that has any color, and that color is red, which usually represents passion and life. The whole setup in the beginning makes you think she is doomed, from playing at the edge of a cliff, to an accidental discharge heading right for her, but all expectations are subverted. I think the girl represents something more than human, maybe fate or luck. The ending where she hands the bullet back is interesting too. Usually adults are seen as superior to children in authority and knowledge, but when she hands the bullet back she seems completely superior to the man.
Try come to daddy ( apex twins )
First! Glad to see more and more people getting into korn!
That "bark" is known as skat, as Johnathan was influenced by Jazz. Also most of his songs are based on his experience being SA by his stepmom. "You and I were meant to be, a cheap fuck for me to lay"
Edit: Yes I get it, it wasn't his step mom, stop accusing me of doing this on purpose or whatever, it was a mistake, I know it was a neighbour or baby sitter or something, please stop hassling me over it. I've been listening to Korn since I was young, I was given false information and I didn't bother checking it recently. I also don't always look up the meaning to songs, I interpreted the meaning of the song from my experience being SA when I was young. I'm not trying to spread false information. I know nowadays it's this thing where everyone is so fucking sensitive and get offended over everything, but it's getting ridiculous now, there are better things you could be doing, like being nicer to people and having more of a positive affect in the world. also I didn't realise this was a reupload.
That song is about how he'd use sex to dull the pain.
@@gregoryjames174 Freak on a Leash” was Jonathan Davis' complaint against the music industry that abuses him, leaving him feeling like “a freak touring corporate America fucking making all the money while it’s taking a part of me.”
and this is why I should do my research haha but I found the meaning for the song!
It was not his stepmom, stop giving disinformation...
"Kill you" from life is peachy is about his step mom.
@@devilbob excuse you? I'm not out here purposely giving out inaccurate information so stick your fucking accusation up your arse
KORN!! Yes! One of my favorite groups of all time. Glad that you discovered them.
same
When you said you "I thought they were going to switch it up and give us a jazzy type beat" really made me think of "Got the Life" by Korn of course, may want to look into that one.
Korn were the biggest band for me between the ages of about 15-22. I'm 40 now and I guess even Metal music has past me by if someone your age ( I'm guessing you're 25 or under) has never even heard a song by them. I'm starting to understand the term mid-life crisis!!
You NEED to react to Kill You, Its a song about Jonathan's mother and how she treated him badly, its very heavy, dark and sad.
Those perfectly-timed pauses. I legit held my breath in right when the BUMM DAH DAH MMMM was about to start, and you paused it. xD
That "GO!" gives me chills everytime. I love it.
Still one of my favorites songs of theirs. It was the song definitely the one that got me into Korn.
This song is fire! 🔥
Your description of it is spot on...
right now, y’all want a single, ball tongue, chi, A.D.I.D.A.S, and good god are all fire you should definitely react to them all, i love korn 🤘🏾
Man you need to do a video review on either “Falling Away From Me” or “Here To Stay”
Hell yeah,Here to stay kicks ass!
Great song choice to react ailieen
Welcome to Korn! Shoots and Ladders or Did My Time would be fun!
I have done shoots and ladders :)
@@AileenSenpai My bad!
Korn was so iconic!!! The memories are so thick to these guys!! Thanks for the cool reaction!!! A can’t wait for your deep dive into amazing world of grunge/post-grunge/nu-metal 👍👍👍
Hell yea, classic song. Korn has great headbangers but also some heartbreakers.
Btw could you react to Blue October's When love isn't good enough?
It has a pretty neat twist.
Would be excited to see some blue October on the channel. I've suggested "the feel again (stay)" a few times now
Where'd you go? I'm less of a mess these day.
Amazing reaction ☺️
Thank you!! 😁
I remember when this video first aired. My heart was racing from all the near misses of the bullet. And the "barking" is Nu Metal Skat.
You're so genuine. Even though you're doing this as a job. I've seen you weep and I cried with you
Always love your reactions just seeing the genuine reaction to incredible music I absolutely love Korn this one is incredible you should check out coming undone thanks for sharing you experiences with awesome music
Fun Fact:
KoRn had, around this time, miraculously discovered an audio file of the first rap in history. It was recorded by a caveman around 98,000 B.C. They sampled it for this song. Also, other parts were inspired by it.
Pure KORN classic 🤘🏻🔥
Korn was my first concert 🤟🏻 Family Values.
Korn was first. Lincoln Park was later.
Not your first Korn song. Your first Korn song is how I found you. This song is amazing though.
this is an old video I reuploaded :)
@@AileenSenpai DUH, it's right there in the pinned comment. Sorry I'm multitasking.
@@AileenSenpai You discovered some of their songs, but i recommend you highly the other hardhitters from Korn:
Here to Stay - Heavy and i blasted my Head for Hours over Headphones with this song. So much Power behind, also you like the heavier stuff so i think its perfect for you :) .
Make me Bad - Super Catchy and really good Chorus
Somebody Someone - Ultra heavy breakdown
Rotting in Vain - a newer song and it was the first good heavy album in a long time, finding way back to the roots
This song is absolutely dripping with just pure tribal animalistic energy and rage in a way that you just rarely get in music. The drop, the scat, the 'GO!' followed by some of the most animal sounds in a metal song ever, the drums, bass, it all just goes so hard it's almost impossible to listen to without wanting to bang your head to it like you're part of some kind of tribe preparing for war dancing around a campfire. Absolutely LOVE IT. This is what good music, and good art in general regardless of medium, is meant to be about - it's meant to be about making you *feel something*. It doesn't matter what that is, whether it be peace and serenity, or absolute animalistic rage, good art should make you feel something and this song absolutely does that.
Follow the Leader came out when I was in grade 5. Up until then I only had listened to the pop stations. Friends at school had been talking about Korn, so to fit in I went and bought the album on Casette (first album I ever bought myself). Listened to It’s On, Freak on a Leash, Got the Life and Dead Bodies Everywhere back to back, changed me into a Metalhead for life.
I took my son to his 1st concert last year. He wanted to see KoRn. They blew me away
I was gonna say..... You reacted to Korn before 😂
yeah... :P sad it was blocked as while back but here we are again
You should react to GOT THE LIFE FROM KORN
The animation and character designs were by Todd McFarlene, who was responsible for the comic book Spawn. Spawn was turned into a movie about the time the album came out and Korn were on the soundtrack.
Korn invented NuMetal. They were one of a kind and no one will ever sound like them.
I agree
(SIC)
Are you ready
AS READY AS I'LL EVER BE

Justin is an amazing yet sad song. A must listen. 🤘😪
You have a TON of Korn to catch up on lol, have fun and enjoy the ride! Gen Xer here, these songs... wow, take me back!
Falling Away From Me, Got the Life, Shoots & Ladders, Somebody Someone, & Here to Stay are all great KoRn songs that you should listen to
I loved that you were reacting to Korn and unintentionally making food metaphors, this is why i subbed to you, i was a child of the 90's and when i first watched this i thought man whoever really shot that bullet had great aim and control to not hit ANYTHING! hahahaha 8-9 year old me was not the brightest crayon in the box lets just say.
Amazing reaction, your a beautiful person, keep up the amazing content 💪
Thank you so much!!
Freak on a leash won best rock video and video of the year back in 1998 at the Mtv video music awards.
I love you so much that you said, "Fuck us up with some music." That makes me so happy.
Even though I have listened to this killer song many many times, your reaction to the song gave me chills! Raised the hair on my arms, because I get the feeling that you truly love music, and it shows in your vids. Love them, keep up the great work!
I thanked you on another video for not just giving your opinion on it but bringing up very important social issues....And I thank your father VERY much for his service and everything he did for this country.
My mum loved this band when i was a kid in the 90s. I grew up hearing this band. It's so interesting seeing people whom have never heard it. Radio stations here in New England still play this song all the time. Lol
Omg first thanks for the reaction. As far as follow up vids you can't go wrong with Korn. Such a huge catalogue of great songs, maybe try coming undone or something from their untouchable albumn
To Hearing you lovin on the bass so much, is awesome. Been a Korn fan from the start, and love the appreciation you're givin the bass
Korn has been my favorite band for decades. I wish I could go back in time and hear them for the first time again. I love your reaction to this.
Just listen to all their stuff! Brings back so many memories!!
Love it! ❤
Lol WELCOME TO THE FAMILY 😂
I wish I could hear KORN for the first time again, you lucky! X
I was lucky enough to be in my early 20’s when Freak On A Leash came out. Such an awesome time in music. Saw Korn multiple times in concert and partied with them after the shows. I love that people are still discovering them🖤
Yes, Jonathan is wearing a kilt. He is very proud of his Scottish heritage.
It's a kick watching you hear this for the first time.... What a scream!
All it took was this song for them to become my favorite band, many have come close but they still remain number one. I'm forever grateful for my friend Clark who put this album on and said,"It's time you heard real music." This was back in middle school and they were also the doorway to more rock and metal and the subgenres within. Been a child of KoRn since 1998 🤘🤘stay safe and keep on rocking 🤘🤘
Man it's been years since ive listened to much korn, that sound they have is perfect. And they all compliment each others talents spot on.
Welcome to the KoRn fan. Glad you enjoyed it! Keep up the great work.
She didn't dare stop the music after, "GO!!!"
That song is personally one i go crazy for... What a choice 💪👍
I like that the heartbeat meter goes down during the heaviest parts, because they are the most satisfying to listen to. She is obviously enjoying it. Then when she does her commentary it jumps up.
Haha i feel Like aileen ist reacting to my spotify Play lists
I really enjoy this.
that 'plunky' korn bass is so iconic man
Your reaction at 6:02 when they changed it up is gold.. Subbed
The STOP at 4:34 is PAINFUL!!! 💯💯🤣🤣 Its RIGHT before the part we all WAIT to hear! 🤣💯
When he said boom.. that was scatting.. when he said GO.. he combined all of it and some throat as well.. he was cutting edge
GO! Yeah this song is so good. The GO part always gets me.
The whole part from where he starts doing the scat, to the GO!!! through the end of the song... I love seeing your reaction to that, I used to watch this song on MTV in the 90's and I STILL get that feeling sometimes. I cant help but turn up that breakdown!!!
Korn - Coming undone. One of my favorite that no one ever mentions!
The other must-see Korn video is their live performance of Blind at Woodstock ‘99
…Are you ready?! 🤯
Yep. 5he bass is what this is all about. It's so deep and it controlled the song. I'm a bass guitarist myself, so it was easy to see.
