No thats not aluminium with water. Thats engine oil with lots of MoS2 (Molybdenum Disulfite).

I am just about to start an MK1 Cabriolet (1.8L 8V) rebuild. Been about 15 years since I last rebuilt an engine (2.0L 16V from a 92 GTi). I hope I still have what it takes.....lol. I'm ordering up a complete master rebuild kit for the motor then off I go.

Die Nockenwelle/ der Kopf haben eine Dose Liqui Moly Oil Additiv (der graphithaltige Mos2 Verschleißschutz) bekommen, oder?
Was für einen Dichtstoff hast du für den Vergaserzwischenflansch verwendet?
ja habe MoS2 zusatz reingemacht. Würde man aber bei nem frisch gehonten Motor nicht machen. Eher mineralöl und dann einfahren.
Dichtmittel ist dirko oder halt irgend ein motordichtmittel.

How many degrees have the camshaft?
Or you use the stock camshaft?
I'm started a similar proyect with a 1.8 GU engine and your videos help me a lot of.
at the time it was a 262deg cam. now ive got a 272 deg in it
@@VolksTrieb Okey Thanks sure it's better, more power in hight rpm. In my engine I bought a 270 cam.

Heya! Great work done! Just a quick question though. What were the torque values for the head bolts? And another, is this enjine the same one that is found in the 1985 VW passat b2 (1.8l). I'm planning on repairing the top on mine sometime soon...☺
Um you usally get the torquespecs with your gasket/bolts (came with mine).
The engine was used for the passat as well, yes. All 1.6-1.8l are mostly the same 😁

If i may ask another question, is there any way in which i can remove my engine head to replace the gasket without altering the timing?
Pardon my many questions, it is my first car and I'm afraid to do things wrong.🙈
Well there might be some tools but I never used them. Just be sure that crank, intermidiate and camshafts are on the markings. Just check before putting the head on again. You could remove the camshaft first if you want.

Oil-water cooler? Yes thats normal

I have 2litre mk1 and it cant idle nor matter how i do the timing so i need suggestions
which engine? mostly its due to a vakuumleak. look at all hoses and gaskets for defects 🤔 if not there may be a faulty idleregulator
@@VolksTrieb its a 2litre apprantley the previous owner converted it fitted a 2litre engen..this probleum of throttle body being on and off wht could be the reason

Only thing i learned is that yoy used a xrill to turn the oil pump and prime the engine with oil
